Five years after its initial release on March 1, 2017, the Tokyo Revengers manga, imagined by Ken Wakui, is now over. On Wednesday, March 16 was unveiled the final chapter 278 in Weekly Shônen Magazine coming to conclude the adventures of Takemichi, main character.
As it is often the case at the time of the revelation of a final of a movie, series or manga, the opinions diverge. In this sense, Tokyo Revengers is not an exception to the rule. But it seems that a majority of fans are disappointed by the closing of the manga. Some even accuse the mangaka of "laziness".

This could see the same thing happening to Tokyo Revengers, although the criticisms may in fact be corrected at the end of the anime adaptation.

The most likely situation is that fans of the Tokyo Revengers manga will completely refrain from watching the rest of the anime. After all, if it adapts the bad ending of the manga, it will only disappoint them twice. Manga-first fans are not the entire audience of Tokyo Revengers, but losing this part of the audience would certainly be a blow to the ratings. With the retroactivity with which the whole series has been hated by jaded fans, such a fall from grace for the anime could happen whether or not it maintains its quality up to par.
Given how much the manga's ending irritated fans, those behind the Tokyo Revengers anime might take the opportunity to correct its mistakes instead of repeating them. The biggest problem with the ending of the source material was that the final time travel plot in the conclusion was rushed, making it completely toothless and lacking in pathos. When the anime gets to this point, one way to keep similar criticisms at bay would be to slow down and actually describe what happened in a more substantial way. That way, even the hated happy ending might seem more deserved, alleviating some of the fan issues.
Even if that happens, however, there could still be a significant loss of viewership for the next season. The best thing is for the creative team of the series to go ahead and make some kind of statement hinting at "fixing" the ending of the manga in some way. Otherwise, those who have read the Tokyo Revengers manga have every reason not to care about the anime anymore, with even the highlights of season 2 leading only to a disappointing finale.
