The story revolves around Eren Jaeger in a world where humanity lives within massive walls to protect themselves from gigantic creatures known as Titans. In the year 845, humans hadn’t seen Titans near Shiganshina District for over a century. Eren’s father, Grisha Jaeger, gives him the key to their basement, which holds crucial secrets. Unfortunately, Eren and his adoptive sister Mikasa witness the appearance of a 60-meter Titan, the Colossal Titan, as well as the Armored Titan, who create a breach in Wall Maria. Eren doesn’t get the chance to see the secret of the basement. The Titans flood into the city, causing chaos, and a Smiling Titan devours Eren’s mother right in front of him. Determined to take revenge, Eren vows to kill all the Titans by joining the Scout Regiment.

By 850, after three years of training, the graduates of the 104th Cadet Corps are stationed at Trost District, one of the outer cities of Wall Rose, to choose their military division. The Colossal Titan reappears and breaks through the wall, allowing many Titans to infiltrate the city. Young recruits and internal forces are sent into battle, buying time for citizens to escape and waiting for the Scout Regiment, which specializes in Titan combat. In the battle that follows, Eren is swallowed by a Titan in front of his best friend Armin while trying to save him. After Armin reveals Eren's death to Mikasa, she goes on a rampage, killing many Titans before collapsing on the ground due to a lack of gas. Vulnerable, a Titan looms over her, but suddenly, another Titan appears and attacks the other Titans instead of humans, saving Mikasa. This mysterious Titan turns out to be Eren, who has somehow acquired the ability to transform into a Titan. Although considered a threat by some, he helps the soldiers retake Trost District by sealing the breach in the wall during a second operation. After being put on trial as a potential danger to humanity, Eren is placed under the protection of the Special Operations Squad, led by Corporal Levi.

As the plot progresses, many mysteries unfold regarding Eren’s ability to transform into a Titan, why he has this power, and the fact that he’s not the only one with this ability.
