Askin Nakk Le Vaar (Asukin Nakkuruvāru) is a Quincy as well as one of the Stern Ritters of Yhwach's army, the Vandenreich. He has the epithet "The Death-Dealing". He is also a member of the Schutzstaffel, King Quincy's protection squadron. Due to his position and actions, he is a major antagonist in the Millennium Blood War, being one of the central antagonists in the final battle, pitting the Quincys against the Shinigamis in the Wahrwelt.

Personality
Askin can be described as eccentric and unpredictable, often taking a serious situation lightly. He's very sarcastic, pointing out Bazz-B's apparent calm despite the fact that he's about to attack Haschwalth. He's also very cynical, questioning the intelligence of the scientists at the Institute for Research and Technical Development who don't understand that the Quincy didn't "come from somewhere, but have always been there". He's clever enough to try and deceive his opponents, as demonstrated by his attempt to entrap Mayuri Kurotsuchi (which fails), the latter letting him go quietly on his own.
By his own admission, he's the kind of guy who wants to do things quickly and subtly, and refuses to face enemies who are "too boring" to beat. He's also wonderfully relaxed, able to eat a picnic while using binoculars to watch the other Stern Ritters fight. On the other hand, he fears the mess Gremmy Thoumeaux could cause. He loves café au lait.
He also relies on his lackey airs to make his opponents underestimate him, which is one of his strong points. His frivolousness and explanations make him a scornful person to listen to, and Bambietta Basterbine despises Askin in particular for prolonging the coup de grâce for his own pleasure, a fact that Yoruichi was quick to notice. He declares that doing things violently is more in keeping with Bambietta and Yoruichi's style. He also defines a woman's value not in her physical appearance, such as her looks, but rather in her style and presentation.
He never shows negative emotions such as anger or sadness, even when challenged by Kisuke Urahara, nor at the act of death, which makes him a unique character. The notable exception, however, is when he observes Yhwach's new appearance and power, where he is terrified.
Askin follows Yhwach, firstly out of loyalty, comparing it to that of a poodle to its master, but also because he knows that King Quincy is one of the few people who can change the world and is curious to see the end result. He can show respect for his opponents, admitting that he was the one who underestimated Ōetsu Nimaiya after the latter sliced him when he regained his power. He also greatly respects Kisuke Urahara for his intelligence, even appreciating the Shinigami's response declaring that he'd rather change the world himself, than see Yhwach do it.
Appearance
Askin's black hair reaches to his neck, with a wisp at his mouth, and in some respects he resembles Sôsuke Aizen. In addition to his Stern Ritter uniform, he wears baggy pants and an armband on his left arm. He will eventually wear the Schutzstaffel uniform when he joins it. His face is slim, with pronounced cheekbones. He has lavender eyes, a thin face with pronounced cheekbones and markings from the end of his eyebrows to the corners of his eyes.
Skills and competencies
Askin is one of the most powerful antagonists of the Millennium Blood War and one of the greatest threats, behind Yhwach himself. As a member of the Schutzstaffel, the unit that brings together Yhwach's elite guards, all characters more powerful than the rest of the Stern Ritters, his position is an admission of his power. In particular, he was able to defeat Ōetsu Nimaiya in a duel before the latter required Kirinji's help, and was able to get rid of Ichigo and Grimmjow with disconcerting ease. His exceptional stamina and his power, The Death Dealing, which enables him to alter the lethal dose of any substance, make him a virtually invincible opponent. In his final battle, he got rid of Yūshirō and Yoruichi Shihōin without difficulty before facing Kisuke Urahara, who will need Grimmjow's help to manage to defeat him.
Reiatsu and physical prowess
Being a Stern Ritter, let alone a member of the Schutzstaffel, Askin possesses Spiritual Power at least as powerful as that of a Gotei 13 Captain, if not more so. He proves this by easily defeating Yoruichi Shihōin and Grimmjow Jaggerjack, two fighters who are well on the level of a Captain. Ôetsu Nimaiya, a member of the Zero Division, considers him a threat, and even Kisuke Urahara has to summon his Bankai to defeat him.
Although he despises the use of brute force, Askin is a formidable hand-to-hand combatant who can take on Yoruichi Shihōin, a Hakuda expert and Shunkō user. His combat stamina is equally exceptional; a trait he's had since before he joined the Vandenreich, according to the latter. He can survive lethal attacks, such as a throat slitting with ease. Even with his heart ripped out, he is able to survive for a few moments and speak, as well as increasing his power. His stamina is matched by an equally exceptional resistance that allows Askin to take Yoruichi's Shunkō: Raijin Senkei with only a few scratches, followed by the gigantic explosion caused by Yūshirō's Shunkō: Bakuen Musō with only moderate burns.
Quincy capabilities
Because of his position, Askin naturally masters the basic techniques of the Quincys. By absorbing spiritual particles, he becomes able to move through the air or levitate. He also has a good command of Hirenkyaku, able to dodge a fatal blow from Ôetsu Nimaiya and planting three arrows in the chest of Yūshirō, a Shunpo expert, before the latter can understand.
Spiritual weapons
Like most Quincys, Askin uses a spiritual bow, the Heilig Bogen (神聖弓 (ハイリッヒ・ボーグン), German and Japanese for "Sacred Bow"), a telescopic bow that he keeps stored in a bracelet on his left arm. The bow is long, with an atypical piece where several holes rest. With it, he can fire one or two arrows per burst.
Schrift
Askin inherited the Schrift "D" for "The Death-Dealing".
The Death-Dealing (致死量 (ザ・デスディーリング), English for "Deadly Cause", Japanese for "Lethal Dose") is the name of Askin's unique ability. It enables him to perfectly calculate and modify the lethal dose of a substance he consumes.
After increasing the lethal dose of a substance, it becomes ineffective against Askin. He can develop immunity to any substance or energy-based technique that injures him. The speed with which he acquires immunity is impressive. After taking an attack, he will carefully analyze the attacker's Reiatsu and begin to build up immunity, all within a short space of time. Given one minute, he can theoretically immunize himself against all his opponent's attacks. This immunity also allows him to regenerate.
On the other hand, Askin can lower the lethal dose of a substance vital to the opponent, such as Reiatsu or oxygen, to make it toxic to the opponent. To do this, Askin must consume a large quantity of the substance whose lethal dose he wishes to modify, as when he drank his own blood in order to poison Ôetsu Nimaiya with his own.
Techniques
Gift Ball (ギフト・バル, gifuto baru; English for "Gift Ball", German for "Poisoned Ball"): Askin throws a poison ball at his opponent. It's strong enough to topple Grimmjow immediately on contact.
Gift Bad (毒入りプール (ギフト・バート), Gifuto Bāto; English for "Bad Gift", German for "Poison Bath", Japanese for "Poisoned Pool") : Askin summons a dark area the size of a large circle on the ground. If someone enters its range, Askin can lower their resistance to anything, such as Reishi, causing them to be poisoned if exposed to a high dose of the substance.
Quincy : Complete
Hasshein (神の毒見 (ハスハイン), Japanese for "Divine Poison Taster"): By activating his Vollständig, Askin gains purple wings composed of circles connected with Reishi lasers giving them the appearance of molecular sequences. The same Reishi system surrounds his abdomen like a belt. He also wears a transparent orange visor around his diamond-shaped eyes. There's a bracelet on his right arm and three bracelets on his left. There are also 5 small discs floating towards his left arm and 3 towards his right arm. Finally, his pants are covered with a coat of violet energy and he has a Quincy cross halo with an atypical shape similar to his wings.
As well as significantly increasing his power, Askin is now able to use the full power of his Schrift. He now becomes immune to the attacks of certain opponents who can rapidly change their nature in their Reiatsu. Some individuals can change the nature of their Reiatsu, just as viruses can evolve into variants that will affect a previously immune individual. Askin's Vollständig adapts to just such changes in the same type of "poison". As long as the base of the poison remains the same, Askin can adapt to any changes in the poison's surface, rendering it ineffective.
Techniques
In addition, Askin can enhance the poisoning effect with several techniques.
Gift Ball Deluxe (極上毒入りボール (ギフト・バル・デラックス), Gifuto Baru Derakkusu; English for "Deluxe Gift Ball", German for "Deluxe Poisoned Ball", Japanese for "First Order Poisoned Ball"): An amplified version of the classic Gift Ball that takes on gigantic size. The power of this technique is amplified during Askin's death.
Gift Bereich (猛毒の領域 (ギフト・ベライヒ), Gifuto Beraihi; German for "Poisoned Kingdom", Japanese for "Deadly Poison Domain") : Askin creates dozens of interconnected spheres of light to form a large spherical barrier, from which it would be impossible to escape.
Gift Ring (猛毒の指輪 (ギフト・リング), Gifuto Ringu; German for "Poison Ring", Japanese for "Lethal Poison Ring"): Askin expands the bracelet on his arm and throws it at his opponent. The bracelet rapidly shrinks before hitting a specific area of the enemy's body. This attack concentrates all the features of The Death Dealing in a single point and causes "instant death" to the area hit.
Intelligence
He's a cool-headed, thoughtful man who meticulously prepares his battle plans. When Ôetsu Nimaiya attacked the Schutzstaffel, Askin was the only one to take the initiative and step back to try and dodge the Schutzstaffel's attack, although he failed. When confronted with Urahara's Bankai, he quickly realized its limited range and showed exceptional composure, surprising even the former captain. He also possesses an incredible knowledge of medicine, thanks in particular to his knowledge of the characteristics of his power. By simple observation, he was able to guess his opponent's weight and deduce the exact amount of blood he contained.
Weaknesses
Quantity reduction: If Askin's target decides to reduce the quantity of the substance affected by Quincy's ability, he will reduce the concentration at which the lethal dose affects his body.
Limited immunity: Although Askin can quickly become immune to a substance, if it is modified in the same way as a virus modifies its DNA, then Askin will be affected by it again. However, this limitation disappears when he switches to Vollständig.
Death-Dealing Vaccine: This is a temporary remedy created by Kisuke Urahara to counter the effects of Askin's power. It is injected subcutaneously, but only lasts 5 minutes due to its lack of development.
History
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War
Ordered to do so by Yhwach, Askin and the other Stern Ritters gather at the Sun Gate to invade the Seireitei. Emerging from a pillar of blue flames, Askin is captured and placed among the attackers. At the end of the invasion, during which he was not seen fighting, he returned to the Schatten Bereich with the surviving Stern Ritters.
After the invasion, Askin and the other Stern Ritters are summoned to Silbern Cathedral. All witnessing Yhwach's speech naming Uryū Ishida as his successor, Askin makes his first appearance by interrupting a confrontation between Jugram Haschwalth and Bazz-B over King Quincy's decision. Insisting that he had helped them by preventing a quarrel between allies that is forbidden in the Vandenreich and that such behavior could be damaging, especially to Haschwalth. Later, Askin attends a meeting of the Stern Ritters led by Haschwalth. Haschwalth tells them of his intention to steal the hopes of the Shinigami, particularly the Captains whose Bankai has been stolen.
During the second invasion of the Vandenreich, which replenishes the Seireitei through the Schatten Bereich, Askin appears at the Institute for Research and Technical Development and sarcastically explains to the researchers present how the Quincy had remained hidden in the shadows for the last 1,000 years. He, in turn, is surprised by the appearance of Mayuri Kurotsuchi from a room that appears out of nowhere. Mayuri claims to have understood the link between the shadows and the Quincy hideout. After analyzing Mayuri's appearance, Askin decides to leave, stating that he doesn't want to waste time trying to kill him using different methods.
Seeing that Mayuri isn't pursuing him, he asks why he doesn't go after him, to which the 12th Captain retorts that he wants time to analyze Askin's reiatsu and that he's not going into a confrontation without information. When Mayuri questions Askin, deducing that he's trying to provoke him to draw him out on favorable ground, Askin declares that this deduction is frightening and is glad he didn't show off his powers. Before leaving, Askin, Mayuri and the other BDT scientists feel Soi Fon and Hitsugaya's Reiatsu, showing that the two Captains can fight without Bankai. Askin reveals to Mayuri that Yhwach expected the Captains whose Bankai were stolen to be able to overcome this power in a short time, implicitly declaring that this setback will not allow the Shinigami to prevail.
We see him later, spectating the fight between Kenpachi Zaraki and Gremmy Thoumeaux and confiding to Pépé Waccabrada that Stern Ritter "V" is terrifying and prefers to move further away from the scene of the duel. He is present when Gremmy summons a meteorite and says it should have been locked up for its dangerousness.
When Ichigo Kurosaki returns to the Seireitei, Askin is at the bottom of the tower where Yhwach, Haschwalth and Uryû are present, wondering whether he will "be chosen".
After Nianzol Weizol's death, he is called by Yhwach to join Pernida Parnkgjas, Gerard Valkyrie and Lille Barro in destroying the Royal Guard. He notices that he is the only one of the Seireitei to have been summoned, and motivates himself to keep up the hard work before being threatened by Gerard, who tells him that his uselessness will cause his death.
The only one of the four Schutzstaffels to survive Ôetsu Nimaiya's Sayafushi, he reveals his power to modify the lethal dose before being caught by Tenjirô Kirinji's red source, which renews his ally's blood before killing him. However, he is resurrected thanks to Auswahl, which boosts his abilities. With his 3 comrades, he managed to take down the 4 members of Division 0 before lending a hand to Yhwach, who was facing Ichigo and his gang.
He then waited for his monarch to finish sucking up Mimihagi and the King of Souls. Once this task was accomplished, the Schutzstaffels, Uryû and Haschwalth joined their leader and Askin was terrified of his appearance, begging Haschwalth to reason with him so that they could stay alive. Yhwach listened to his second-in-command's request and moved the Schatten Bereich to the Palace, which radically changed its appearance.
Now in the throne room, he listens to Yhwach and Haschwalth's instructions and is then sent to kill the remaining Shinigamis, while he comes across Ichigo's group.
Knowing that the fight will be tough, he prefers to flee, only to be pursued by Grimmjow Jaggerjack. After judging his opponent's level, he throws a Gift Ball at him, knocking Grimmjow out in one blow. He is then confronted by Ichigo Kurosaki, and after witnessing Shunsui Kyōraku's goosebump-inducing Bankai, he manages to take Ichigo down shortly after Lille's fall. He explains the hierarchy of the Schutzstaffels to him, as well as the particularity of the last two members, Pernida and Gerard, being remnants of the King of Souls, and their place in the Vandenreich.
Ichigo is saved by Yoruichi, who challenges Askin to a duel. However, Yushirō attacks Askin by surprise with his Shunkō - Bakuen Musō which causes a large explosion and consumes Quincy.
However, the latter managed to survive this attack and after Yushirō's second failed attempt, which takes 3 arrows in the back, Yoruichi understands that this opponent is formidable. Askin then becomes immune to Yoruichi, exposing her to a Gift Ball hybrid of oxygen and nitrogen. She owes her survival to the arrival of Urahara. The latter's arrival destabilizes Askin, who reveals that Urahara is one of the five threats designated by Yhwach and would rather not have faced him.
Urahara replies that it's too much of an honor and drugs Yoruichi with a substance that gives him a considerable boost of power at the expense of his sanity. No longer able to immunize himself against these attacks, and cornered by Yoruichi's numerous assaults, Askin activates his Quincy Vollstandig: Hasshein. He defeated Yoruichi and cornered Urahara, gouging out his eyes with his Gift Ring and poisoning him with Gift Bereich. Urahara retaliates by unleashing his Bankai, which disturbs Askin as he has no information about it and is surprised when Urahara regenerates.
When Urahara manages to attack him, he increases the power of his Gift Ball Deluxe and is pierced by Grimmjow, who rips out and pulverizes his heart. Knowing his death was imminent, Askin increased his Death Dealing to maximum, suffocating Urahara and Grimmjow to the point where Nelliel, observing the fight from the outside, intervened.
