Appearance
Driscoll is an imposing, very tall man, twice the height of a normal shinigami; he has black hair that reaches down to his jaw to form a beard collar. Like most Stern Ritters, he wears the typical white uniform of coat, trench coat and hood, with a black tie, pants and shoes.
Personality
In keeping with his epithet "The Overkill", Driscoll is an extremely bloodthirsty person; he shows no mercy towards his adversaries, always ready to attack them mercilessly with brutal, murderous force. In keeping with his epithet, Driscoll shows no remorse for those he fights or has already killed, even mocking them openly in the midst of battle.
Equipment
-
Medallion: This is a kind of medal that every Stern Ritter carries. These items enable you to steal a Bankai from a Shinigami and use it again.
- Bankai: Kōkō Gonryō Rikyū (黄煌厳霊離宮, Austere Soul's glittering yellow Royal Villa): The Bankai that Driscoll stole from Sasakibe. Driscoll raises his medallion, forming storm clouds above him. A dome of purple lightning then forms above his head, causing several columns of lightning to fall around him. A column of lightning also links the dome to the storm clouds. Driscoll doesn't master the Bankai like its true user, and is content to project lightning at his opponent, far less powerful than at full potential.
Skills and competencies
Driscoll is a very powerful character among the Stern Ritters, able to beat Chōjirō Sasakibe, of Captain level, and Shūhei Hisagi, one of the most powerful Vice-Captains, effortlessly. His main strength lies in his ability, The Overkill, which allows him to become more powerful every time he kills an individual or an animal.
ScrifftDriscoll inherited the Schrift "O" for The Overkill.
The Overkill (大量虐殺 (ジ・オーヴァーキル), Ji Ōvākiru; English and Japanese for "Massacre") : Driscoll possesses the ability to greatly increase his power simply by killing. According to him, the more he kills, the stronger he becomes, regardless of his victims, be they enemies, allies or even animals.
-
- Heilig Pfeil (神聖滅矢 (ハイリッヒ・プファイル), Hairihhi Pufairu; German for "Holy Arrow", Japanese for "Sacred Arrow of Destruction"): By collecting Reishi between his fists, Driscoll can form the spiritual arrows typical of Quincys. However, his are atypical: they are both longer than average and have a cross at the tip. Because of their size and the way he shapes them, Driscoll uses them as spears to hurl at his opponents. They are powerful enough to kill Chōjirō Sasakibe, while propelling him into Yamamoto's offices from a considerable distance.
History
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War
While 7 intruders conversed with Captain General Yamamoto, Driscoll led an assault near the gate of the Black Mausoleum. After killing over 100 soldiers, he confronted Chōjirō Sasakibe, the Vice-Captain of the First Division. Driscoll had no trouble beating him, and even stole Sasakibe's Bankai when Sasakibe decided to activate it. To conclude the fight, Driscoll sent a Reishi spear which propelled Sasakibe towards Yamamoto's offices before fleeing. The Vice-Captain died shortly after revealing to Yamamoto that the Quincys could seal the Bankai.
Later, when he learns that Quilge is facing Ichigo at Hueco Mundo, Yhwach summons the Stern Ritters to gather at the Sun Gate and prepare to invade the Soul Society. When the Seireitei invasion begins, Driscoll appears outside the 9th Division's quarters. After killing over 100 Shinigami soldiers, he is confronted by Hisagi, whom he has no trouble dominating. He explains his power, The Overkill. The more people he kills, the more powerful he becomes. He also reveals that he is responsible for Sasakibe's death and hurls his energy spear at Hisagi, only to be narrowly deflected by Yamamoto. Ecstatic to see his new opponent, Driscoll releases the Bankai he stole from Sasakibe, Kōkō Gonryō Rikyū, and attacks Yamamoto with it.
The latter then recalls how Sasakibe obtained his Bankai to become his right-hand man, 2,000 years ago. Back in the present, Yamamoto is enraged to see that his loyal right-hand man's Bankai has become weaker in Driscoll's hands and takes it as an insult. Killing the Quincy with a single sword stroke that reduces him to ashes to the bone, Yamamoto then bids farewell to Chōjirō. He then promises to kill every last one of their enemies and propels himself into the sky. His anger is felt by all the Captains, who are even more motivated to continue the fight.
