Neither the group nor the alliance are official in the anime, they are simply a way to refer to the friends of Son Goku and the allies who help them in their quests.
Regularly, the members of this group evolve through their battles, as they fight increasingly powerful adversaries, train, and become stronger as a result. New fighters join the group regularly, and even former villains like Piccolo, Vegeta, and Frieza were forced to team up with this group for the Tournament of Power to replace Majin Buu (good).
