Although two seasons are nearly finished, the anime Solo Leveling covers only a fraction of the original story.
It’s no surprise that fans are eagerly awaiting what’s next. For those who aren’t interested in the manhwa or novels, several other excellent anime can satisfy your thirst for adventure. Many of them share similar elements with Solo Leveling while offering their own fascinating worlds.

Solo Leveling is above all a power fantasy isekai anime centered on a unique protagonist. This genre has been a hit in recent years, but this anime stands out thanks to its unique take on isekai. Of course, one can enjoy the classic Sword Art Online, but other works put their own spin on similar themes: character focus, dark atmosphere, or existential reflections.
10. Shangri-La Frontier, an ideal anime for video game enthusiasts
While Shangri-La Frontier has a different tone from Solo Leveling, its hero, Sunraku (Rakuro Hizutome), shares Sung Jinwoo’s thirst for power. The universe unfolds mainly inside a video game, with fewer real-life stakes, but death still looms over some characters, even if they’re NPCs. Sunraku faces his challenges with a tenacity comparable to Jinwoo, playing both offensively and defensively, finding enjoyment even when on the back foot.
9. Go! Go! Loser Ranger: The Brutality of a Struggling Hero
This manga revisits the theme of the underestimated protagonist who advances despite obstacles. Unlike Jinwoo, Fighter D remains weak but increases his intelligence out of necessity. Just like Solo Leveling, this series features a harsh world populated by superpowered humans and fearsome monsters. Acceptance of one’s monstrous side stands apart, making this a more humorous work with a likeable outsider hero.
8. Goblin Slayer: A Harsher Dark Fantasy Than Solo Leveling
Goblin Slayer is a classic dark fantasy that doesn’t seek to revolutionize the genre. Despite sensitive themes, the series tells the story of a relentless hunter, dedicated to eliminating goblins by any means necessary. His constant struggle to become stronger echoes Jinwoo's, between tenacity and trauma from weakness.

7. Chainsaw Man: A More Laid-Back Jinwoo
Denji, the hero of Chainsaw Man, develops in a world where demons have become commonplace, just like the Gates in Solo Leveling. Although he is strong, Denji is vulnerable to external threats and manipulation. The anime explores themes such as betrayal and complex relationships, while his pact with Pochita remains more sincere than that between Jinwoo and the System.
6. Attack on Titan: A Parallel with the Double Dungeon from Solo Leveling
Attack on Titan is a landmark anime. Erin Yeager, like Jinwoo, struggles against a titanic threat whose mysterious origins deeply affect his destiny. The dark tone and realistic depiction of death bring these series closer together. Both heroes lose their humanity in some ways to better survive.
5. Tower of God: A Complexity Comparable to Solo Leveling
This manhwa focuses more on building a rich and mysterious universe, far from the personal stakes of Sung Jinwoo. Despite their differences, both works explore the determination and sacrifices that their protagonists accept to reach their goals, offering engaging and suspenseful plots.
4. Death Parade: A Psychological Exploration of Moral Grayness
Death Parade shifts away from action for a slower and more psychological approach, while sharing thoughts on human nature similar to Solo Leveling. The character Decim, orchestrating the fate of souls, undergoes an internal transformation opposite to Jinwoo, with both wielding unique judgment powers. The anime blends gentle cruelty and deep questioning.
3. Wistoria: Wand and Sword’s Will, a Softer Version of Jinwoo
Set in a school fantasy world, Will Serfort is ostracized for lacking magic, just like Jinwoo at first. Despite weakness, their fighting spirit ensures their survival. Wistoria stands out with a more relaxed pace but delivers as much intensity in action scenes and personal growth.

2. World Trigger: An Archetypal Threat Close to the Gates
The Neighbors in World Trigger resemble the magical creatures of Solo Leveling through their sudden appearances and danger. While World Trigger's gates are constant and distinct, the complex plot around the Neighbors recalls the depth of the mysteries in the System. There’s more focus on the protagonists’ humanity, especially Yuma Kuga, who fights for normalcy.
1. Hunter x Hunter: A Must-Watch, Dark and Classic
Hunter x Hunter brilliantly deconstructs shonen clichés. Despite his carefree nature, Gon must face cruel and unpredictable threats, highlighting the world’s harshness and constant evolution. Amidst human battles and strange creatures, the anime offers a profound story where human relationships and personal development are central.
