Black Maria, one of the renowned Tobiroppo, represents one of the six most formidable Headliners of the Beasts Pirates. She also holds the management of the Pleasure Quarter on Onigashima Island.

Appearance
Black Maria exhibits an exceptional height for a human, reaching 8.20 meters. Considered a remarkable beauty, she achieved the prestigious status of Oiran, similar to Komurasaki. Her long blonde hair is styled according to geisha tradition, adorned with two swords or red and black flowers. Her sky-blue eyes and a lock of hair falling over her left eye add to her mysterious charm. Furthermore, she wears two long curved red horns, vibrant lipstick, and polished nails, and is often seen smoking a long pipe.

She wears a low-cut black kimono revealing her right shoulder, embellished with a turquoise obi featuring blue and yellow floral patterns. Her footwear consists of black zōri with red straps (hanao) and white tabi.
In her Zoan form, her spider-like limbs each bear a personalized Jolly Roger, likely tattooed on her body.
During her childhood, she sported shorter hair tied in a ponytail, with short outward-curving horns, and wore traditional dark polka-dotted clothing adorned with flowers, as well as a biwa tied to her back, accompanied by a spider.
Personality
Black Maria initially appears as an attractive and flirtatious woman, approaching her missions within the Tobiroppo in a relaxed manner. She knows how to be sensual towards Kaidou but displays grace and elegance when receiving her captain's guests.
When it comes to combat, she prefers to stay in the background, enjoying Kaidou's company or playing music with her subordinates, taking refuge in safe places to avoid direct conflict, leaving others to confront the enemies. She also shows a particular tenderness towards children, caring for the injured Momonosuke before Orochi seizes him.
Despite her cheerful appearance, she proves to be as ruthless as, if not more than, the other members of the Beasts Pirates. Endowed with a calculating and manipulative mind, she devises effective strategies. As an expert torturer, she spares no effort to achieve her objectives, even if it means betraying the trust of her victims. Regarding Nico Robin, her resort to mutilation and violence was explicitly stated to force her obedience as long as her abilities to read Poneglyphs would be exploited.
Black Maria enjoys keeping her male prisoners as "pets," especially those with rebellious temperaments. She uses torture to impose submission and loyalty until the captives can only express their adoration for her. Highly possessive, she tolerates no breach of their loyalty and responds with severe punishments if necessary.

Attracted to her, Sanji was aware of his inability to defeat her physically, counting on Robin to do it for him.
Robin
Capturing Nico Robin is a strategic priority for Black Maria, who sees her only as an instrument to access the Poneglyphs. She intends to eliminate Robin once her usefulness is over. Robin, aware of the trap, did not back down, protecting her companions.

As a Tobiroppo, Black Maria holds significant authority among the lower ranks of the Beasts Pirates. As the leader of the Pleasure Quarter of Onigashima, she supervises local events. Her high bounty (480,000,000 Berries) illustrates her power, placing her among the most formidable members of Kaidou's crew. She claimed she could easily eliminate the Nine Red Scabbards, which caused some tension with Jack.

Tactical Mind
Black Maria demonstrates great cunning, devising ingenious strategies to capture adversaries like Sanji, exploiting his chivalry by orchestrating a trap with Sarahebi involving simulated harassment and trapping Sanji in her spider webs.
She also set up an ambush to capture Robin at the banquet, placing webs in the corridors and strategically positioning armed subordinates, but Robin managed to circumvent these traps thanks to her powers and Brook's help.
Devil Fruit
Her hybrid form reveals a lower body half resembling a spider's abdomen, equipped with a large visible maw.
Weapons
Black Maria uses a brass knuckle to inflict heavy damage, as during the torture inflicted on Sanji. Later, she wields a long staff with a flaming Wanyūdo, a weapon capable of generating flames thanks to an imprisoned Smile user, thus controlling fire at will.

History
Wano Country Arc
As the Onigashima festivities begin, the Tobiroppo arrive and join Kaidou for instructions. Black Maria discusses internal tensions with her peers and the urgent mission entrusted: to find Kaidou's son, Yamato, who disappeared that morning. In exchange for his capture, they can challenge a Calamity to take their place.
Choosing to stay at the banquet to accompany Kaidou and Orochi, she tends to Momonosuke before Orochi seizes him for execution, causing her distress.
During the battle against the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance, Black Maria and her subordinates withdraw to wait, during which she plays the shamisen and sings. She then captures Sanji using a stratagem, forcing him to call Nico Robin to trap her. Despite her traps, Robin manages to intervene and fights her alongside Brook.
During the conflict, Black Maria uses her mist of illusions to try to destabilize Robin and Brook. Despite this tactic, Robin manages to thwart her attacks with new techniques, severely injuring her and knocking her out, to the astonishment of her subordinates.
