Frieren

Frieren is the central protagonist of the manga Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.

A former mage of the hero party, she traveled for ten years alongside Himmel the hero, Eisen the warrior, and Heiter the priest to defeat the formidable Demon King. After Himmel's death, Frieren begins a new journey with Fern and Stark, traveling to Aureole while seeking to reconnect with memories of her late companion.

Character and Personality

Frieren is marked by a calm and composed personality, but her reserved nature often creates a sense of mystery among companions, whether humans or elves. As a centuries-old elf, her perception of time is radically different from that of humans, influencing her relationships. Considering ten years a short span, she long underestimated her bonds, especially with Himmel. This realization of her own loneliness pushes her to better understand humanity.

Although sometimes distant and socially awkward, Frieren hides significant emotional sensitivity. She is notably affected by age-related comments and has a certain jealousy towards Fern. She can also seem fragile in the face of certain events, occasionally overwhelmed by intense emotions, puzzling her former companions.

Her mischievous side shows in her taste for risks, such as opening potentially trapped chests or making bold decisions that put her life on the line to defeat adversaries.

Physical Appearance

Frieren is a petite elf with bright green eyes, long silver hair styled in twin tails, and large pointed ears characteristic of her race. Her attire includes a black and white striped shirt, a jacket trimmed with gold, and a short white cape with red and gold decorations. She completes her look with brown boots, black tights, and matching earrings.

Accessories and Outfits

As a mage, she uses a red staff topped with a golden crescent and a red gem. During cold seasons, she wears a white high-neck dress, a beige coat, and an elegantly tied blue scarf. In her apprentice past, she wore a simple white dress with her hair down, contrasting with her now tied twin tails.

She travels with a sturdy brown leather suitcase containing personal items, books, grimoires, and precious mementos such as the ring gifted by Himmel or magical notes inherited from her mentor Flamme.

Recognized as Flamme’s best student and a member of the Hero Party, Frieren the Slayer is renowned for having exterminated many demons, making her a formidable mage.

Exceptional Mana Pool: Her mana reserves are phenomenal, surpassing some demons and rivaling the most powerful mages.

Mastery of Concealment: Trained to limit and hide her mana, Frieren uses this to deceive enemies, making her presence almost undetectable for most mages except rare exceptions like the Demon King.

Magic Resistance: She is highly resistant to binding and hypnosis spells thanks to an ancient, rare technique.

Analysis and Countermagic: Frieren excels at dissecting and neutralizing enemy spells, especially those of the formidable Seven Sages of Destruction.

Vulnerability while Casting: her ability to sense mana drops as soon as she activates a spell, which can be exploited by highly discreet mages, though this is rarely used against her.
