Courage is a quality ever-present among the heroes of Solo Leveling. Each of them faces terrifying challenges but persists despite fear.
When confronted with dangers, these characters do not back down and take calculated risks, as the rewards often outweigh the dangers. This makes identifying the most fearless protagonists in the series particularly complex. None of them escape the trials, yet some overcome far more daunting obstacles than others.

Seldom do S-Rank hunters appear in this ranking. Although they regularly perform acts of bravery and face danger, they possess superior equipment compared to most other characters. Their confidence is thus justified, and the anime almost never depicts an S-Rank hunter plagued by intense doubt. Flashbacks on Jeju Island hint at upcoming difficulties in this arc, but so far, no elite hunter has stood out for exceptional courage amid such conflict.
10. Park Heejin showed blind trust in Jinwoo
Park Heejin - B-Rank Hunter
Park Heejin is no insignificant B-Rank hunter. Her choice to follow Sung Jinwoo during the Red Gate arc demonstrates great . Jinwoo is indisputably stronger than his peers but also a total mystery, with no obvious reason to trust him. She took a considerable risk entrusting her fate to him—a gamble that paid off.
Heejin remains discreet in the anime, but her attachment to Jinwoo is clear. She shows constant courage by continuing to support him despite his extraordinary abilities. She was also decisive in informing the White Tiger Guild about events surrounding the Red Gate, confirming her key role in the story.
9. Cha Haein heroically defends others by exposing herself to danger
Cha Haein - S-Rank Hunter
As an S-Rank hunter, Cha Haein possesses impressive strength, but her commitment goes far beyond sheer power. She voluntarily skipped her lunch break to keep a vigilant watch on the boss room, becoming the sole barrier between inexperienced minors and an extremely dangerous creature. Though she might defeat it alone, her survival is not guaranteed.
Haein accompanies Jinwoo’s Assault Team B to the High Orc gate. Despite lacking weapons or armor, she bravely enters this magic-drained zone to lend a hand. Her determination exemplifies her altruism and strength of will.
8. Lee Joohee, scared but resolved to face the dungeons
Lee Joohee - B-Rank Hunter
No one in the series shows as much fear and trauma toward the gates as Lee Joohee. Even before events begin, she intensely dreaded these dungeons. Yet, her strength forces her to overcome her fears, saving Jinwoo multiple times. This illustrates that physical strength does not always dispel anxiety, which can cause weakness.

Though deeply affected after the Double Dungeon incident, Joohee tries to return to hunting, showing admirable courage. She even lies to help Jinwoo and responsibly chooses to step back temporarily, demonstrating wisdom under pressure.
7. Woo Jinchul, a man defying all intimidation
Woo Jinchul - A-Rank Hunter
Chief Inspector and A-Rank hunter, Woo Jinchul is a respected figure, often described as Go Gunhee’s right hand. His role brings him to work with hunters of all levels, including stronger ones. Yet, he stands firm on principles, confronting threats head-on to fulfill his mission.
Unlike Lee Minsung, from an influential family, Jinchul does not hesitate to confront him when their interests clash. He even intervenes in a battle between Baek Yoonho and Hwang Dongsoo, showing unshakable courage despite physical disadvantages to maintain peace.
6. Sung Ilhwan, a veteran of gates long before season 1
Sung Ilhwan - S-Rank Hunter
Sung Ilhwan is an accomplished hunter who easily defeated Dongsoo, securing a high S rank. Though he experienced the harmful effects of gates, his focus remains on his family. His early awakening places him in a special category, having evolved in far more perilous circumstances.
While hunting remains a risky profession, current technology reduces some dangers. At Ilhwan's time, classifications did not exist and exploring gates was far more perilous due to lack of information. Despite this, Ilhwan persevered, often at great sacrifice.
5. Son Kihoon, a leader ready to face death against orcs
Son Kihoon - A-Rank Hunter
Leader of Assault Team B in the hunters’ guild, Son Kihoon commands a powerful and respected group. These hunters are distinguished by loyalty and a focus on collective survival rather than glory. Though often exposed to perilous missions, they know their strength is inferior compared to high orcs.
Facing Kargalgan, Kihoon takes the initiative to challenge him, an act that may seem desperate but shows his determination to protect comrades despite obvious risks. His fate likely would have been grim without Jinwoo’s intervention.
4. Ahn Sangmin, a non-hunter still determined
Ahn Sangmin - Non-Hunter
Ahn Sangmin is not a hunter but part of the White Tiger Guild's management staff. Passionate and involved, he actively recruits top hunters, facing many rivalries. Even threatened by Jinwoo, he continues to help him, showing significant boldness and resilience despite lacking personal power.
He faces other threats, notably from Dongsoo, who seeks information by force. However, Sangmin stays firm and persistent, illustrating remarkable character strength in a hostile environment.
3. Song Chiyul, hunting with a physical handicap
Song Chiyul - C-Rank Hunter
Despite an unfortunate awakening that turned him into a mage instead of a swordsman, Song Chiyul earned respect among lower-rank hunters through experience and age. His involvement in the Double Dungeon cost him an arm, but not his life or determination.

He continues hunting despite his loss, using expertise to support allies and lying to the Hunters Association to protect Jinwoo. His sword mastery, though limited, makes him a valuable mentor for Cha Haein during recent events.
2. Yoo Jinho, proof that intelligence counts in combat
Yoo Jinho - D-Rank Hunter
Yoo Jinho is often overwhelmed by hunting. Convinced his costly armor will protect him, he’s unaware of real dangers, including other hunters. Despite low power, he aspires to become guild leader, showing some boldness by announcing his departure from it.
His major act of bravery is confronting traitorous lizards. Confidence in Jinwoo and his convictions lets him stand firm despite the unknown. Jinho remains loyal to Jinwoo even after witnessing terrifying acts, showing rare intellectual and emotional courage.
1. Sung Jinwoo, from E-Rank to the world’s most powerful hunter
Sung Jinwoo - S-Rank Hunter
Sung Jinwoo is on track to become the most powerful hunter ever. Despite currently being S-Rank, he spent four whole years as the weakest hunter, at E-Rank. Often injured and ill-equipped, he tirelessly returned to dungeons to fight foes far stronger than him.
His most intense fear was facing the Statue of God, an experience surpassing all other threats. Even when close to death at the Demon Castle and the Double Dungeon, he persisted to survive, using clues to play his hand right. His courage, even facing death, enabled him to obtain the famous System, key to his incredible progression.
