Top 10 Most Iconic Assassinations in Manga & Anime!

Mercy is defined as an act of profound compassion, and in anime, there is no greater mercy than a quick and painless death.

However, it is often the circumstances surrounding a character's demise that matter more than the death itself. Sometimes, heroes sacrifice themselves to protect the greater good; other times, their disappearance deeply changes the course of the story. In anime, deaths by mercy become iconic because they bring poignant nuances and striking moments that permanently influence the plot and the protagonists' development.

The notion of clemency remains subjective: while some antagonists in anime do not deserve it, many receive a second chance in their last moments, revealing unexpected inner transformations. Often, this mercy stems directly from heroic acts performed to protect the community. These deaths in anime leave a strong imprint due to their narrative impact or their close connection to the central theme.
