Decades after its release, Sailor Moon remains one of the most influential magical girl animes. The series deeply impacted the genre thanks to its wide variety of lovable characters with magical powers and unique combat skills. Most of the strongest characters in Sailor Moon fight for justice. However, others sow chaos and destruction, forcing Sailor Moon and her allies to overcome all obstacles to defeat them.
15. Tuxedo Mask's Psychic Abilities Offer Valuable Support
Attacks: Tuxedo La Smoking Bomber, Pink Sugar Tuxedo Attack (with Chibi Moon)
Mamoru Chiba is Tuxedo Mask, Usagi Tsukino's companion. He provides essential support to the Sailor Guardians through his premonitions. It is later revealed that he is the current incarnation of Prince Endymion, the Prince of Earth from the Silver Millennium, and the love of Princess Serenity. As Tuxedo Mask, he does everything he can to protect Usagi from danger, even at the risk of his own life.
His signature attack involves throwing a red rose, powerful enough to pierce through any surface. While he may not be the strongest fighter in Sailor Moon, his support abilities and his Red Rose attack offer valuable distractions, often allowing the Sailor Guardians to buy time to prepare their own more devastating attacks. In the manga, Tuxedo Mask also possesses healing abilities and psychic powers.
14. Sailor Mercury's Intellect is Her Greatest Asset
Attacks: Shine Aqua Illusion, Mercury Aqua Rhapsody

Ami Mizuno is the current version of Sailor Mercury, one of the Inner Senshi. Capable of wielding great power as a Sailor Guardian, she also possesses other strengths. More intelligent than the other group members, Sailor Mercury acts as the strategist for the Sailor Guardians, saving them more often through her intelligence than through her magical powers.
Besides her brain, Ami, as Sailor Mercury, also masters water. Many of her attacks involve striking her enemies with concentrated forms of water or ice, such as Shine Aqua Illusion or Mercury Aqua Rhapsody. Despite this, Sailor Neptune is more considered the aquatic character among the Sailor Guardians than Sailor Mercury.
13. Sailor Venus Led the Inner Senshi
Attacks: Crescent Boomerang/Beam, Venus Love-Me Chain
Minako Aino is the current incarnation of Sailor Venus and the leader of the Inner Senshi, as seen in the Sailor Moon manga and Sailor Moon Crystal. As the Goddess of Love, she remains devoted to her role as a Sailor Guardian, with most of her attacks uniquely utilizing energy.
One of Sailor Venus's most powerful attacks is her Venus Love Chain, which she uses as a rope to bind her enemies. She is also capable of using a Crescent Boomerang/Beam energy attack to easily subdue her enemies. As a member of the Inner Senshi, she is one of the weakest of the Sailor Guardians. Yet, Minako also faced the Dark Agency alone as Sailor V early on, before the others became Guardians.
12. Sailor Jupiter Trains in Martial Arts
Attacks: Supreme Thunder, Jupiter Oak Evolution
Makoto Kino is the current incarnation of Sailor Jupiter and the fourth Sailor Guardian to join Usagi in the anime. Considered a tomboy by her peers, she places great importance on combat strength. This is what led her to pursue karate and martial arts to become a more seasoned warrior.
Transformed into Sailor Jupiter, she gains even more legendary strength and new magical abilities. Her attacks, often composed of lightning and thunder, allow her to generate powerful electrical discharges and project them at her opponents. One of her attacks even takes the form of a powerful dragon.
11. Sailor Mars Possesses the Power of Fire
Attacks: Akuryo Taisan, Mars Flame Sniper
Rei Hino, today's Sailor Mars, is the Guardian of Fire who draws her strength from her spiritual beliefs. Like Tuxedo Mask, she possesses premonitory abilities and a "sixth sense" allowing her to detect evil presences nearby, even in her civilian form. Unlike the other Sailor Guardians, she grew up with these powers as a miko.
Sailor Mars is also one of the best fighters in Sailor Moon thanks to her pyromantic attacks and her skills as an expert archer. Her Mars Flame Sniper attack is her most powerful ability, allowing her to summon a flaming bow and launch a fiery Mars arrow at her opponents. This ability evokes the power of the god of war who gave her her name.
10. Sailor Chibi Moon Has the Potential for Great Power
Attacks: Pink Sugar Heart Attack, Magnificent Moon Meditation
Chibiusa, also known as Sailor Chibi Moon, is an interesting case among the Sailor Guardians. Daughter of Usagi and Mamoru, she comes from the future and was sent back to the past to get their help. Since Chibiusa is still in training during her involvement in the story, she doesn't often have the opportunity to display incredible power.
However, given her parents, Chibiusa has the potential to one day become as powerful as Sailor Moon. She proves undeniably strong as an adult in her Black Lady form, though she was then under the evil influence of Wiseman. Chibiusa even has her own group of protectors: the Sailor Quartet, just as Sailor Moon has the Inner Senshi.
9. The Sailor Starlights Nearly Rival the Outer Senshi
Attacks: Star Serious Laser, Star Gentle Uterus, Star Sensitive Inferno
Seiya Kou, Taiki Kou, and Yaten Kou are the Sailor Starlights, becoming Sailor Star Fighter, Sailor Star Maker, and Sailor Star Healer respectively. These aliens came to Earth with the specific goal of finding the princess Kakyuu from their home world. While there, they pose as male pop stars, hoping to reach the princess through their celebrity.
The Outer Senshi of Sailor Moon are undoubtedly the most powerful of the Sailor Guardians, and the Sailor Starlights are comparable in power. The Outer Senshi must protect the galaxy from external threats, making the Starlights their natural enemies. Each member plays a different role within the group, but all possess offensive attacks capable of inflicting deadly damage.
8. Sailor Neptune Harnesses the Power of the Seas
Attacks: Deep Submerge, Submarine Reflection
Sailor Neptune appears with a calm expression after her transformation sequence in Sailor Moon Crystal.
Michiru Kaiou is Sailor Neptune, one of the most elegant and admirably designed Sailor Guardians. Guardian of the Seas, she uses aquatic attacks to subdue her enemies. Sailor Neptune's power is often underestimated, and despite her graceful appearance, she is capable of formidable attacks.
Sailor Neptune's mastery over water has allowed her to wield the Deep Aqua Mirror. This extremely powerful talisman can harness the power of the sea and summon an explosion of Submarine Reflection. The Deep Aqua Mirror also grants Sailor Neptune the ability to reveal the truth and track her enemies, providing valuable support to the entire Sailor Guardian team.
7. Sailor Uranus is the Confident Guardian of the Skies
Attacks: World Shaking, Space Sword Blaster
Haruka Tenou is Sailor Uranus, the Guardian of the Skies who is never afraid to rush into battle. She is an incredibly strong and agile fighter, confident in her status as one of the most powerful Sailor Guardians due to her belonging to the Outer Senshi. They each have a significant advantage over the Inner Senshi, their mission being to face threats from beyond the galaxy.
Sailor Uranus possesses abilities allowing her to manipulate the air and winds around her, enabling her to draw strength from the planet Uranus and fight with extreme aggression, forcing her enemies to submit. She also wields the Space Sword, a powerful blade that was used to summon the Holy Grail.
6. Sailor Pluto Can Control Time and Space
Attacks: Dead Scream, Chronos Typhoon, Time Stop
Setsuna Meiou embodies Sailor Pluto, the Guardian of Revolution with incredible powers over time and space. Sailor Moon plays with many fantasy themes throughout the series, and Sailor Pluto's control over time and even death is one of the most fascinating. Her "Time Stop" attack links these two concepts: it is powerful enough to stop time, but at the cost of her life.
As the eldest of the Sailor Guardians, Sailor Pluto can be a much more brutal warrior than some of her younger allies, and she is willing to do anything to protect them. Her role as Guardian of the Space-Time Door also played a crucial part in the Sailor Guardians' defeat of Pharaoh 90.
5. Sailor Saturn Holds the Power of Destruction
Attacks: Silence Wall, Death Reborn Revolution
Hotaru Tomoe is Sailor Saturn, a close friend of Chibiusa, daughter of Neo-Queen Serenity, and the last Outer Senshi to awaken. Guardian of Silence, she possesses the powers of Saturn, the Planet of Destruction. These powers have such devastating potential that even the other Outer Senshi worried about when she would become a Sailor Guardian.
Sailor Saturn's Silence Glaive is one of the most powerful weapons in the series, capable of destroying entire planets and reducing them to dust. Sailor Saturn also controls life itself, able to resurrect places she has destroyed with her impressive glaive. Regarding the other Sailor Guardians, Sailor Saturn is undoubtedly the nuclear option.
4. Queen Metalia Caused the Fall of the Moon Kingdom
Abilities: Corruption/Brainwashing, Youma Creation
Queen Metalia doesn't look like most Sailor Moon characters: her original form is that of a disembodied entity from the Sun. She reigns over the Dark Kingdom, controlling Queen Beryl and the Shittenou, and is the true final villain of the first arc of Sailor Moon. In the anime, she even possesses Queen Beryl's body when she gains enough power to take the form of Super Beryl.
![TV Review] “Enemy –Queen Metalia–” – Episode 12, Season 1 of Sailor Moon Crystal - marcusgohmarcusgoh](https://marcusgohmarcusgoh.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/marcusgohmarcusgoh-sailormooncrystals01e12-2.png)
As the one responsible for the end of the Silver Millennium, Queen Metalia is responsible for almost everything that happens in the Sailor Moon franchise. Princess Serenity, Prince Endymion, and the other Sailor Princesses perished in the conflict born from her machinations, which led them to reincarnate as the story's current characters. Queen Metalia accomplished all of this through her powers of corruption and was not afraid to kill those who, like the Shittenou, betrayed her.
3. Sailor Galaxia is a Villainous Guardian of Chaos
Attacks: Galactica Inflation, Galactica Super String
Sailor Galaxia is the ruler of Shadow Galactica, considered the most powerful Sailor Guardian in the entire Milky Way. Her journey began as a noble Sailor Guardian, fighting against the evil Chaos that sought to consume the entire galaxy. Chaos eventually tore apart Sailor Galaxia's soul, making her a vessel for evil in one of the most fascinating story arcs of Sailor Moon.
Galaxia can destroy planets with such ease, similar to Sailor Saturn. Furthermore, her Galactica Bracelets are capable of launching powerful energy blasts that can annihilate a person's star seed, shattering their soul and completely destroying them. As the main antagonist of the final season of Sailor Moon, she represents a formidable threat to the universe, giving Sailor Moon and the other Guardians serious competition.
2. Chaos is Sailor Moon's Ultimate Enemy
Abilities: Energy Absorption, Possession
Chaos is the primary source of evil in the Sailor Moon series, responsible for all the other villains the Sailor Guardians have fought before. Its ultimate goal is to merge everything that exists into the Galactic Cauldron so that everything returns to how it was before, when the universe was unified. This makes Chaos the greatest threat to the Sailor Guardians.
Chaos is so powerful that the Sailor Guardians are unable to definitively defeat it. Their only way to get rid of the problem for now is to promise its future return. Upon its return in Sailor Moon Cosmos, it takes the form of Sailor Chaos, causing massive destruction that even Sailor Cosmos struggles to manage.
1. Sailor Moon Stops at Nothing to Destroy Evil
Attacks: Supersonic Waves, Moon Spiral Heart Attack
Usagi Tsukino may face difficulties at the beginning of her adventure as Sailor Moon, but she remains determined to protect the world, no matter what. Guardian of love and justice, she is the reincarnation of Princess Serenity from the powerful Moon Kingdom. Several versions of Usagi have been seen throughout the series: Super Sailor Moon, Eternal Sailor Moon, Neo-Queen Serenity, and even potentially Sailor Cosmos, each more powerful than the last.
Sailor Moon has access to some of the most powerful items in the series, including the Holy Grail and the Silver Crystal. By using these items and invoking the rest of her fellow Sailor Guardian teammates, Sailor Moon possesses power superior to any other deity in the universe. Capable of facing the greatest threats in the universe, including Mistress 9, Sailor Galaxia, and even Chaos, Sailor Moon always emerges victorious, proving that love and friendship have great power.
