Gunhee is humble and sincere, showing respect for people with strong moral principles but remaining firm toward those motivated purely by self-interest. He maintains a relationship of trust with Sung Jinwoo and is highly respected in Korean society. Driven by a strong sense of duty, he works tirelessly—often at the expense of his own health—and deeply longs to return to hunting, though his advanced age limits him.

Background

Once recognized as Korea’s most formidable hunter, age gradually took its toll on Go Gunhee, forcing him to end his hunting career. Although healing magic once gave him hope of regaining his abilities, he was unable to return to hunting and instead devoted himself to his role as chairman of the Korean Hunters Association.

Interaction with Jinwoo

After learning that Jinwoo was Korea’s tenth S-Rank hunter, Gunhee tried to recruit him, realizing he could disrupt the current balance of power. Ultimately convinced by Jinwoo’s honesty, Gunhee developed a certain rapport with him, at one point even sharing a drink with his right-hand man, Jinchul, temporarily putting aside his official duties.

Gunhee carefully scrutinized Jinwoo’s sometimes troubled past but expressed admiration for his determination to protect his family at all costs. To his surprise, he later found out that Jinwoo had joined a mining guild, deviating from the traditional path.

Commitment During Raids

Present for Jinwoo’s official reassessment, Gunhee enabled his access despite opposition. Faced with escalating threats, such as the flying ants on Jeju Island, he initially confronted a lack of international cooperation before agreeing to a collaborative strategy with the powerful Japanese hunter Goto Ryuji.

Responsibilities & Conflicts

When Jinwoo founded his own guild, Gunhee used his authority to grant Jinwoo independence in dungeon raids—even going against official rules. He dispatched Jinchul to monitor the guild's first raid and ultimately acknowledged that Jinwoo alone represented an armed force, signaling profound change.

In negotiations with Japanese Hunters chairman Matsumoto Shigeo, Gunhee detected a plot against Korea's S-Rank hunters and responded firmly—while reminding that Jinwoo remained in charge of his own choices and interests.

War of the Monarchs Arc

At the Guilds International Conference, Gunhee faced a sudden attack. Despite his valiant fight against the Monarch Sillad, he was gravely wounded. In a final act of sacrifice, he created a gap in a magical barrier to allow allies to alert Jinwoo. He then declined Jinwoo’s help, preferring to accept his fate with dignity.

Conclusion & Legacy

After the Reincarnation Cup altered the timeline, Gunhee lived a different life, never becoming a hunter nor dying in the war. Later, gravely ill, he received a visit from Jinwoo, who gave him a miraculous potion, granting him ten extra years of life. At the end of this period, Gunhee chose to close his eyes peacefully upon regaining memories of their shared battles.
