Asakura Yoh is 13 years old at the beginning of the Shaman King series and a normal teenager. He has dark brown hair down to his neck and is constantly seen wearing a pair of orange headphones behind or over his ears. He normally wears his school uniform with his shirt constantly open, but when it's cold he buttons up his shirt, wears a tie and the standard school uniform jacket.

In combat, he wore a black vest and shorts trimmed with an orange lining and wrap-around sandals. During the second round of Shaman Fights, he is shown wearing a shirt with a Funbari Onsen advertisement on it and sweatpants with sandals and long black pants, also with wrap-around sandals.

Between the battles of the second round of Shaman Fights, he wore a yukata, a blue robe tied with an orange belt around his waist, where he keeps the Amidamaru memory tablet. Around his chest of his robes is another advertisement for Funbari Onsen and on his shoulders he also wears a black cape.

When he was about 17 years old and Hana was still a baby, he started to dress in denim pants, a white short-sleeved t-shirt and a plaid printed scarf. His hair was slightly longer and just past his shoulders. At age 22, Yoh's hair is now waist length and more wavy. He no longer wears his orange headphones and bear claw necklace and instead of an open shirt, he now wears a plain white t-shirt. Attached to his orange pants is one of Hao's star earrings and he is now wearing brown leather sandals.Shaman King : le quiz le plus dur du monde sur Asakura Yoh

Personality

As a slacker by nature, Yoh maintains a carefree, laid-back attitude about everything, even while achieving his goal of becoming a Shaman King. Because he was alienated by everyone outside the family, he chose instead to connect with the spirits and decided that anyone who can see the spirits cannot be evil.

Although generally considered lazy and indifferent to most things, Yoh holds wisdom far beyond his years as he thinks outside of common norms and principles, with many people unable to read his flexible and unique nature. While his comments and general behavior give the impression of irresponsibility and lack of commitment that has often infuriated others, Yoh operates on empathy. He goes out of his way to help others (and himself) to stop carrying unnecessary burdens that get exhausted and potentially lead to self-destruction, which is not initially perceived at first glance from his attitude, but has caused the many people he has met to start questioning themselves and the path forward. His signature phrase "Everything will be fine" (な ん と か な るnantoka naru ) is a way in which he believes that things will eventually get better, without stressing unnecessarily about the things they are able to handle. Although he doesn't look it, Yoh acts seriously in most cases, but always tries to stay true to himself.

Because of his empathetic nature, Yoh is rarely on bad terms with anyone and always decides to befriend the people he meets. He cares deeply for his friends, even at one point, he left Shaman Fight following a deal with Iron Maiden Jeanne to revive Tao Ren . Although he didn't deeply like the idea of giving up the fight, he nevertheless resolved to do so, as he couldn't be at peace with himself knowing that his friend had died while he was able to do something. It is also because of his empathy that he is able to try to understand the reasoning and motivations of his opponents, to understand their positions, but also to show where such beliefs could be misplaced and downright harmful to others and themselves.

Despite this, Yoh is openly against senseless violence and indiscriminate killing, showing an unusual rage when people's lives are lost. He vehemently disagrees with the idea of revenge, believing it to be an endless cycle of mutual hatred that only harms and never brings any conclusion or satisfaction and even drags third parties into the fight, who will then seek revenge on their wrongdoers in an endless pool of bloodshed and conflict. He understands, however, that actions have consequences and that such irrational displays of hatred will be reversed, although he does not personally approve of such miserable results. It is because of these beliefs that Yoh actually has a negative view of humanity as well, as it is their greed,

Although it is rarely seen, Yoh really loves Anna and has decided that when he becomes Shaman King, he will make her life easier. Just seeing her face for the first time made him blush. Before leaving for America for the Shaman Fight, Anna asked him "Tonight... Can I sleep next to you?" and his answer was "Yes".

Capabilities and powers

Since Anna became his fiancée, Yoh has been constantly subjected to exhausting and painful training that has made his body harder and stronger. During the battle, he is very flexible, intuitive and completely relaxed and calm at the same time. It is because of this relaxed and calm attitude that he learns to deny Furyoku attacks, a skill that is similar to a grass straw bending in the wind to avoid breaking. He later develops this skill into a technique that completely negates Furyoku and learns to channel it through his Over Soul or to use it by directly grabbing his opponent for more devastating effects.

Yoh becomes one of the five elemental warriors and adapts his Furyoku to that of the earth, which is first shown when he used metal to survive Tao Ren's lightning attack . While working his way through the plants, Kyōyama Anna examined the Furyoku values of Yoh and the others. There, it is revealed that her Furyoku is about 108,000.

Shamanic Spells

As a shaman, Yoh learned many techniques, among others from his grandfather, Anna, the spirit of the cat Matamune and the Gandhara teams.

  • Ko-Oni Strike (小鬼ストライクKo'oni Sutoraiku ): One of the onmyôji magics of the Asakura family, Yoh summons small leaf spirits; however, he never really mastered the technique but showed the ability to use it when he was 10 years old, under his grandfather's tutelage. At best, he could only summon three of the leaves.
  • Sankiraimon (三帰礼文, literally meaning "Prayer of the Three Refuges"): A sutra (お経Okyō ) that was taught to him by Anna, it is a Buddhist exorcism chant that will send any Buddhist-knowing spirit that hears it into the afterlife. However, the sutra does not work on spirits from different cultures.
  • Fumon Tonkō (巫門遁甲Fumon Tonkō , Shamanic Oracle in the English manga): One of the many spells that Yoh learned from Chō-Senjiryakketsu . Using this spell can read the flow of Furyoku and determine its course. Effective use can render most magical attacks ineffective.
  • Ultra Senji Ryakketsu: Mikazuki no Harae (超-占事略決三日月ミカヅキノ祓ハラエ Chō Senji Ryakuketsu Mikazuki no Harae , literally meaning "Full Moon Purification"): This was the secret exorcist magic left to Yoh by Matamune, to help defeat the Oh-Oni that Anna created. This magic depleted the supply of Furyoku within Matamune and, as a result, sent him to the afterlife.

Weapons

Harusame was Amidamaru's personal sword when he was still alive. Yoh acquired it after defeating Tokageroh, who stole it from the museum to take revenge on Amidamaru. Yoh later used the Harusame as the main medium for his Over Souls .

The Futunomitama no Turugi is a red rock in the shape of a knife which belongs to the Asakura family since the time of Asakura Hao. It once belonged to a sword god and even though it is only made of rock, it is the perfect medium to create an Over Soul sword.

Spirits

Amidamaru is a 600-year-old samurai who is Yoh's first guardian ghost. Always at Yoh's side, Amidamaru is loyal and trustworthy and can enter Yoh's body via Hyōi-Gattai and later the Over Soul. Amidamaru is very powerful but quite taciturn and extremely devoted to Yoh calling him "Yō-Dono" (Master Yoh in the English version).

During the second round of Shaman Fights, Gandhara determined that Yoh was one of the five elemental warriors and according to Pascal Avaf , Yoh was destined to use the Spirit of the Earth because his ability is to create metal. Yoh has only been seen using the Spirit of the Earth to create gravity fields to protect himself and others from various attacks.

History

Past

Yoh Originally from Izumo Shimane, Japan and born on May 12, 1985. To Asakura Mikihisa, an ascetic monk, and Asakura Keiko, a Miko. He spent most of his early childhood living in Izumo with his mother, while his father's apprentice Tamao and his grandfather, Yohmei, who helped raise him in the shamanic family ways. For the most part, during his childhood, Yoh was rather reclusive, having virtually no friends outside of his family and spirits due to his shamanic heritage. Yoh was regularly outcast by normal people, alienated because of his powers so he spends most of his time listening to the music of his favorite artist, SOUL BOB. However, he always imagined a better life for himself. This became his motivation to become Shaman King. Yoh's ambitions to become a Shaman King started at the age of four when his grandfather told him that the Great Spirit and Yoh were the lazy one that he saw the possibility of an easy life and from that day on, decided to become a Shaman King.

His training progressed slowly, but at the age of ten, Yoh learned of his engagement to the young Itako, named Kyōyama Anna . It was during this time that he also gained his first Guardian Ghost, Matamune of the Cats - a cat spirit that had served House Asakura for over a thousand years. At the request of Yoh's grandfather, Matamune returned from the underworld to escort Yoh to Ozorenzan, where he was to meet Anna, who had just completed her Itako training with Yoh's grandmother, Asakura Kino . On his first day in Osorezan, Yoh met a girl who received him in a cool reception, leaving Yoh in shock. Soon after, he was attacked by an Oni. in the streets, only to be saved by Matamune. Despite this, the two would eventually arrive at Yoh's grandmother's house and were properly introduced to his fiancée who turned out to be the girl from earlier, much to Yoh's shock and surprise. Although upset at first, Yoh slowly discovers the mystery behind Anna and her Reishi powers. During a battle with an Oni, Yoh's bravery drew Anna's emotion, whose negative emotions formed the Oni, and dissolved it, though it cost Matamune the last of the Reyoku, making him disappear.

Coming to Tokyo

When Yoh moved to Funbari Hills to participate in Shaman Fight in Tokyo and to find his own ghost. There, he met the first friends he ever had Oyamada Manta, at Funbari Hill Cemetery after enrolling in Funbari ga Oka, the same school as Manta. He fought with Ryu who had defeated Manta, with the help of Amidamaru, Yoh used Hyōi-Gattai to merge with Amidamaru and defeat Ryu, this is when Yoh chose Amidamaru as his partner. However, much to Yoh's disappointment, Amidamaru declines.

Manta trains Yoh and tells Yoh that it was not a good idea to be partnered with Amidamaru, Yoh felt no evil in him and tried to find out why he refused. When they arrive at the local museum of Funbari, they both see the old rusty sword of Harusame and later in the night they find Mosuke crying in which he made the sword. He begins to explain the past of his promise and that the two have waited 600 years. Yoh merges with Mosuke to make Amidamaru's new sword for the promise and show him the newly made sword. Amidamaru then decided to join forces with Yoh. Yoh then returned the Harusame to the museum.

They have many adventures together, such as freeing an angry earth spirit from a billboard, saving children from a fire, and stopping a bully from ruining his life.

Shaman fights in Tokyo

Silva of the 10 Patch Officers of the Patch tribe meets Yoh at Amidamaru's grave and challenges him to a test to enter the Shaman Fights. In order to acquire the Oracle Bell which will work as a license, Yoh will have to hit Silva only once. Yoh accepts and the battle begins.

Yoh quickly integrates Amidamaru into himself and enters to strike, but hits Silva's OS Silver Shield and wonders what happened. Silva explains the Over Soul concept and retaliates with Silver Horn, Silver Tail and Silver Rod, slamming Yoh into the ground. However, Yoh discovers how to use the Over Soul and places Amidamaru inside the Harusame. He succeeds and creates an overflowing and uncontrolled version of his very first Over Soul. Seeing this, Silva exchanges the Silver Arms for his OS Totem Pole Cannon formation and fires a Furyoku blast. With the muscle memory gained from merging with Amidamaru so many times, Yoh uses the Buddha-Strike and deflects Silva's attack towards him. This act cuts Silva's headband, hitting him and earning him the Oracle Bell and the right to participate in Shaman Fights.

When Yoh returns home, Anna berates him for the Oracle Bell, thinking it is a pager and the hair on him, thinking he was with another woman. To prove her wrong, Yoh decides to show her his Over Soul but fails because he is out of Furyoku. Yoh is about to be defeated by Anna, but the Oracle Bell beeps and Yoh receives his first match against someone named HoroHoro, which takes place in the middle of an open square.

Before the fight begins, Yoh receives a battle suit from Anna, which he openly complains about until Anna says she spends all night sewing it personally. Suddenly, a voice calls to Yoh above them and Horohoro falls sixty stories and attacks Yoh to make his Over Soul work. The fight begins with Horohoro attacking, initially dominating the match. After a while, Yoh asks him what his dream is, to which Horohoro tells him his dream of creating a huge field of petasite. Yoh cries for him and considers forfeiting the match until Anna brings Yoh to his senses. The battle resumes and Horohoro attacks head on but Yoh is ready for him. Yoh quickly counters anything Horohoro can come up with to the point where Yoh melts everything Musso Kurppe Horohoro had. Horohoro uses his most powerful attack of a massive avalanche.

Yoh is pitted against Johann Faust VIII in his second match of the Shaman Fight. Yoh is in the Yokohama cemetery for his next match. Anna left with Silva to do something. Faust arrives and greets Yoh, then continues to captivate Manta and Yoh with his story. He then takes out Eliza Faust remains skeletal while Manta runs away. Manta is however easily captured by Faust and is cut open. As Yoh runs through the summoned skeletons to hit Faust and save Manta, the bell beeps announcing the start of the fight. Yoh worries for his friend but can do nothing but wrap a jacket around Manta's wound. Yoh fights Faust's undead skeleton soldiers but uses most of his Furyoku. Silva finally shows up but can't intervene because of the rules of combat.

Faust focuses his Furyoku on Eliza while breaking three ribs and puncturing Yoh's left lung. Yoh tries to turn Faust's strategy against him but cannot fight Faust's full power. Faust finally charges his full Furyoku on Eliza and directly charges Yoh who is able to cut Eliza's legs. Yoh, however, loses because he lacks Furyoku and is unable to maintain his Over Soul. This made Faust irritated by a previous comment of Yoh about Eliza and then attacks again but this time with a giant skeleton of twenty-two tons. at that moment, Ren saves him and tells Yoh to train because they will both fight once again in three months.

Yoh ends up in the hospital after the fight to heal his wounds. Manta goes to his room and Yoh said that he doesn't want to be Manta's best friend anymore, which made Manta run away. Yoh explains to Anna that he really didn't want to do that but he had to do it because he didn't want to put Manta in such great danger.

As Yoh goes home to Izumo the next day to train. Yoh meets his grandfather at the family manor and tells him what he has to do. Yohmei explains that Yoh must die and leads him to the Yomi cave. He wandered in the cave for seven days and nights without any of his five senses. He emerges seven days later to see Anna, Tamao, Manta, Ryu and Amidamaru. Yoh is his usual self after emerging and Anna asks why he is not half dead, to which Yoh replies that it does not matter. The next day, Yohmei gives Yoh one last test to slaughter all his Shikigami. Yoh does it in one shot and gains a new Over Soul. Amidamaru starts to talk from nowhere and this makes Yoh panic. Yohmei explains that his Over Soul is on a much higher plane than before so that Amidamaru can speak in Over Soul form.

Yoh prepares himself for his fight against Tao Ren and goes to the place which is the Mata cemetery in the west of Tokyo. He waits with Manta until Ren shows up with a big entrance, on a horse, then mocks Yoh. Amidamaru and Bason attack each other and Ren gets off his horse. The Oracle Bell rings and the match begins with Ren violently attacking Yoh. After a long series of furies and violent attacks, Ren is finally able to hit Yoh from a blind spot but Yoh blocks him easily and a shocked Ren wonders how he could have seen that. Suddenly, Amidamaru opens his eyes and explains to Ren that Yoh has his eyes too. This opening allows Yoh to use a Buddha strike to finally break Ren's Over Soul.

Instead of simply recreating his Over Soul, Ren powers up his Over Soul and manifests Bason's entire upper body, except for his arms, onto his Guandao. Charging directly towards Yoh, Ren smashed his Over Soul on him like a hammer and continues to throw him into the air with his second blocked attack. Ren materializes Bason's arms and slams Yoh into the ground. Yoh loses his Over Soul, but recovers quickly and Ren furiously continues his attacks against Yoh

Yoh realizes that Ren is using more Furyoku in his Over Soul than he is and Amidamaru says that Yoh has to power up but Yoh says that he will stay as he is now and trust Amidamaru. Ren seizes the opportunity and strikes but Yoh goes through and destroys Ren's big Over Soul, forcing him to lose a lot of Furyoku in one hit. Ren is quite angry at the loss and attacks again but doesn't know that his attacks are landing. Yoh loses four Over Souls but remains calm. Ren has had enough and uses his horse and Bason at full power and goes for the kill. Yoh counters with his own Over Soul under power and they both crash. Ren's and Yoh's Over Souls are destroyed at the same time and the match ends in a draw. Silva appears and tells them that they have both moved on to the second round. Yoh is thrilled that he has passed and doesn't have to be punished by Anna. Yoh and Ren go to the opening ceremony and take a well-deserved break after the fights.

Yoh, Horohoro, Ren, Anna, Tamao, Pirika and all the spirits are at Yoh's house to celebrate their entry into the shaman fight. They party almost all night long. Ren leaves that night to go back to China and Yoh accompanies him. A few days later, two Buddhist monks show up in Izumo. Yoh and Tamao think they are just normal monks asking for money until they send Ponchi and Conchi to heaven. Yoh asks who they are and they capture Amidimaru's memorial tablet explaining that they are the BoZ brothers and they want to be Shaman King. Yoh attacks them to try to get back what they stole but is cornered by the brother's spirits. Yoh goes through most of them, but the BoZ keeps using more and more Over Souls to knock Yoh down. The BoZ moves to kill him but Ryu shows up cutting off all the Over Souls. Ryu reveals that he is now a fully trained shaman and has already won two matches. The BoZ interrupts him and tries to tell him their names but is shot and the car they are using is now in two pieces, forcing them to run

Bason suddenly crashes into the house and tells everyone that Ren was imprisoned by his father. Bason explains some of what happened and disappears as if he were dead again, but reappears apologizing for getting carried away. Yoh quickly goes to China directly to Tao's compound.

Yoh, Ryu, Manta, Horohoro and Bason enter Tao's compound and are greeted by Jiang Shi, the elite of Tao Yúan. One of them cut Ryu's hair in two while the other attacks Yoh and company but Horohoro moves them to a safe place. After Horohoro and Ryu manage to take down one each, they tell Yoh to find Ren while they deal with the rest.

Finding both Ren and Jun in the dungeon, Yoh frees them both and, on the way back, defeats the Torture Brothers with Ren. As they reach the entrance, they discover that Horohoro and Ryu have been defeated by the remaining Jiang Shi whom Manta identifies as Shamon, who also easily got the better of Ren and Yoh. They are both saved by the arrival of Jun and Pyron who defeated them in one fell swoop.

As they go upstairs, they are confronted by the gigantic Yúan who appears before them out of nowhere. Even though they all attack him violently, he continues to regenerate from impossible wounds and easily defeats them. It is only when Ren finds his "way" that he is able to see through the gigantic body, revealing that he is nothing more than a simple Over Soul.

The night before Yoh leaves, Anna asks him if she can sleep with him, and Yoh agrees.

Traveling through America

Yoh goes to the military base to pass to the next point. He meets many shamans who have passed the first round. Ren is there too, eating Takoyaki. The gang takes a break before the next test and meets Hao. Hao tells them to prepare for a plane trip. Hao hits Horohoro so fast that the gang can't feel it. Ren Over Souls and tries to hit Hao but misses because of the Fire Spirit . Hao's allies appear and they leave. The gang talks about what just happened and notices the Patch plane. Yoh is in his own world and wonders why Hao looks like him. They all get on the plane and leave for America. Goldva announces that the Over Soul plane will soon disappear and force the shamans to find their way to the Patch village by themselves.

The plane disappears and the gang is dropped on Route 66, they survived the drop by using their Over Souls before hitting the ground and letting it take the damage. Amidamaru tries to find a town but finds nothing but the road. Ryu uses Big Thumb Over Soul to get Billy. Amidimaru marvels at the American West and Yoh likes to say that it's nice to go somewhere for a change and it's kind of like an adventure.

They go to the nearby town and find Lilirara who shows them Patch Hao's past. They spend the night at her house and she hands them a map of their next destination. The gang goes to a hotel and spends the night there. The gang meets Lyserg Diethel the next day. Lyserg beats Ren and Horohoro with ease. Yoh stops Lyserg when he attacks him. Lyserg is not done and uses the wireframe big ben. Yoh destroys it with the help of Amidimaru. Yoh allows Lyserg to join them later.

They finally arrive at the Patch Village after some days and adventures. Just outside the village, the gang meets the followers of Hao. The followers notice how much Asakura Yoh looks like Asakura Hao. Boris Tepes Dracula attacks but Ryu knocks him down. Yoh climbs up to where Boris landed and is appalled at what happened next. The X-laws have killed Boris and taken Bill apart. Yoh stops the X-laws before they can kill him. Yoh attacks Marco Lasso for coming within a hair's breadth of killing Bill but Harsuame was broken in the process. Marco lets him live for being brave enough to fight him. The X-laws leave with Lyserg happy with what the X-laws have done. The gang picks up Bill and heads to Patch Village. The gang wanders underground for a while but realizes that the path they took was so full of twists and turns that they got lost. They realize that it was instinctive that they were led there. Bill wakes up and tells the group that something bigger is coming and why the patch put so many twists and turns. Bill passes out again and they finally enter the Patch village.

Shaman fights the second round

Yoh has a dream and wakes up in the patch restoration room. Yoh shakes his head to clear it and finds Silva. Silva explains that the dream was simply a vision of the great spirit. Yoh sees the great spirit for the first time and gains great knowledge of the past, present and future of the earth and realizes that the great spirit is a formless mass of trillions of ghosts and spirits. Yoh almost faints again due to the stress of the Great Spirit's power. Silva catches him and offers him soup to calm his nerves and recover. Yoh is taken away and sees Ryu and Horohoro. Ren is outside and looks straight into the Great Spirit. Yoh and company go through the Patch Village to eat and watch the competition.

Yoh and company walk past a gift store and hear Anna complaining about a keychain. Yoh is alarmed and tells Anna to pay full price. Anna reprimands him for the way he dresses and tells him that Manta and Tamao are inside the village. Chocolove appears and explains that the next part of the fight will be a three on three battle. Chocolove also explains the three powers in this fight, Hao's teams, the X-Laws and the Gandhara Buddhist monk faction. Anna realizes that this fight will not be as easy as they thought. Ren builds his team on the spot and goes to register. Ryu wants Lyserg to be the last member of their team, but neither he nor anyone else has seen him or is able to find him.

Anna suggests to Faust that they find out what he can do in combat. They go looking for a team member but find Faust with Manta on his lap. Faust asks if he can join them but is shot down by Ryu demanding that Lyserg be their last member. Faust leaves with Manta still on his lap.

The next three months are uneventful, though they convince Faust to join them and they master the book of Hao. The team enters the fight as the "Funabari Onsen" team. The team is pitted against the "Iceman" team. Even before the fight starts, Yoh uses his power to give a show of "sword spirit". Pino of the Iceman thinks about the battle but the fight begins. The Iceman starts to fight and targets Faust but is pushed back by Faust's new massive Over Soul OS Mephisto E. The Iceman then targets Ryu but is also pushed back by the huge Over Soul OS Yamato no Orochi Go. Pino is afraid and backs off and decides to attack Yoh. Yoh is blown away by a frozen shock wave. The attack does nothing and Yoh is fine thanks to the techniques he learns from Hao's book. Yoh tells the Icemen to come back at full power.

Asakura Hao

The Iceman obliges with his most powerful blow. Yoh uses his sword spirit and defeats the Iceman. The gang celebrates with the Icemen and enjoys a break before fighting again.

Yoh suddenly arrives to save Team Ren from one of Hao's teams with a single slice of his Over Soul. Manta, following Yoh's instructions, brings the Iron Maiden to resurrect Ren. Horohoro leaves in frustration after hearing Yoh's deal with the X-laws, declaring that he will kill Yoh if Ren is still dead. Jeanne tells Yoh that he must withdraw from the competition in exchange for Ren's resurrection. Yoh accepts these conditions, surprising Marco. The Funbari Hot Springs team leaves the X-laws to fill their camp.

Hao, upon learning of Yoh's withdrawal, sends Opacho on his first run to make sure Yoh stays in the Shaman Fight, or else he will destroy the Golem and the children. Anna and Amidamaru convince Yoh to follow his heart. Leading to his confrontation with the X-laws. Using a higher soul of himself with Mikihisa's spirits as a decoy, Yoh wipes out the angels and comes close to attacking the shamans themselves. However, Lyserg and Marco stop him. Only to get Luchist's help with his angel, Lucifer who quickly reverses the tides. Yoh reveals that Marco's "masterpiece" is actually Jeanne and that Luchist plans to completely destroy the X laws.

He tells Lyserg to create an Over Soul of himself using the spirits of Mikihisa and Jeanne. While using Zeruel to get Jeanne out of her underwater torture. Yoh distracts Luchist from Marco to be at his mercy. Shamash saves Yoh, who is relieved not to be executed. They destroy Lucifer, which makes Luchist faint.

After witnessing the new Over Souls of "The Ren" team Yoh immediately leaves with Faust and Ryu for some serious training. After the training, Ryu comments on how great Yoh's new Over Soul is. Sati suddenly appears next to them and reveals that Yoh must be one of the five warriors. She challenges Yoh to a fight but as time is running out, she uses a mantra and sends Yoh to hell.

In Hell, Amidamaru and even Harusame appear next to Yoh. When they are greeted by the Oh-Oni of the past, Yoh thinks that the Matamune is also there but does not find him. Yoh is led to the first level of hell where Oh-Oni leaves Yoh to fight his next opponent. At the top of the stairs, he meets a person who looks like his father. Yoh cuts his mask and calls him an impostor. The stranger answers that he is not an impostor but the one and only Asakura Yohken. The same person who defeated Hao 500 years ago.

Yohken quickly yells at Matamune and he uses Ogre Slayer to tear Yoh's arms. Yoh realizes that it was by will and thought that allowed Yohken to summon Ogre Slayer. By using it himself, he is able to heal his arms and summon the Futunomitama no Turugi. He comments on how similar he is to an Over Soul and attacks Yohken with his new Over Soul: Spirit of the Sword: White Swan. With Harusame in his right hand as a sword and Futsu-no-Mitama in his left hand as a shield, Yohken realizes the power of such a combination and is happy to finally face a worthy opponent.

Yohken retaliates by using his most powerful technique the Dai Tengu. Somehow, Yoh counters with his new technique: a la Amida: Na-Avidya. With it, Yoh purifies the Tengu and wins the fight. It is only then that he asks to speak with Yohken and finally Yohken realizes that his arrogance has made him blind to his situation. Suddenly, a Cho-Oni crushes Yohken's spirit and Yoh loses it. He crushes all the Onis except one who is amazed by Yoh's spirit and tells him to go to Enma Daioh .

Yoh is finally resurrected by Faust just as Ryu starts to attack Hao's men. Yoh eliminates them with relative ease even though they have received immense strength from the Star Festival. Afterwards, Yoh tracks Anna in the forest where she is attacked by Hao. Yoh convinces Hao to stop and the two have coffee togetherBefore the team "Funbari Onsen" faces the team "The Ren", Ren announces how stupid Yoh is and that Hao will not wait for his mercy. During the match, Yoh reveals his belief that Hao has no friends and is quickly attacked by Horohoro. Ryu intercepts him but loses his arms because of his ice attack. Faust tries to heal Ryu but Ren shoots a lightning through him. With only Yoh able to fight, he reveals his Over Soul and counters with Na-Avidya. Ren and Horohoro team up and eliminate Yoh. However, Yoh keeps coming back because Ren didn't have the heart to kill him.

The fight is finally interrupted by the return of Lyserg and the rest of the "XI" team. Sati also appeared and announced that the team "Kabbalahers" and her own team had forfeited and knowing that the team "Hana-Gumi" would do the same against the team "Hoshi-Gumi", the team "Funbari Onsen" and the team "The Ren" won a place in the finals thus ending the fight.

Invade the plants

Yoh, Ren, Horohoro, Ryu, Lyserg, Faust, Opacho, Chocolove and Jeanne entered the Patch Plants in hopes of stopping Hao from becoming Shaman King. Yoh and company entered the Patch Plants and encountered Silva. Yoh fought Silva with his second Over Soul and Yoh almost won but Silva used the Patch song to increase his power and ignore the wounds. he had to use his newly learned Over Soul armor and knocked Silva out. Silva woke up and wondered why he wasn't dead.

He managed to convey his desire not to kill unless he had to and Silva let them into the plants. Yoh doesn't have much of a role in the plants until the lake plant where he took Faust's place after Faust lost to the Official Radim Patch, then the meadow plant when he heals Horohoro of his wounds by placing Faust's spirit in his body. .

As the group finally arrives at the 10th and final "Plant of the Universe," they realize that there is no oxygen or gravity and begin to wonder how they are supposed to fight there. At first, Lyserg suggests that they all protect themselves with their own personal operating systems, but Ryu suddenly interrupts and suggests that they all use the heads of his Yamato No Orochi operating system so that the others can fight at full strength. While Ren questions the responsibility he would suddenly have, he says that he also wants to be useful because the seven are currently his best place.

When Hao finally wakes up, he sends a message to the Oracle Bells that says "so small".

He enters the final factory and effortlessly kills everyone with a single glance, except for Rutherfor, Opacho and Yoh. Opacho commented that the Hao she knew was no longer there and Yoh was able to deduce that Hao was controlling her body even though her mind had already evolved as Shaman King. Yoh then declares that this Hao is nothing but a walking corpse and decapitates him. Hao, however, probably does not die because he is omnipotent after his fusion with the Great Spirit.

After smiling, Yoh's soul and Amidamaru are absorbed by Hao. When Yoh wakes up, he realizes that he must be inside the Great Spirit and Hao appears, revealing that he is in fact inside him and in the highest society of the Great Spirit, the society of the Shaman King where only the people Hao wishes to enter can come. The two begin a conversation in which Yoh reveals that he doesn't like humans either because they are really destroying the Earth. But he also admits that he could never go so far as to kill them, so Hao orders him to leave. Somehow, Yoh is not banished and Tao Ren, Lyserg Diethel, Chocolove McDonell and Usui Horokeu also appear. A fierce battle between the 5 elemental warriors and the shaman king begins, only they are matched by the soul of the Great Spirit. Before Hao can destroy the Elemental Warriors with a black hole, the Soul Train seems to anchor the five. Yoh is able to calm Hao down and tells him that his late mother was always by his side as a spirit. After Hao reconciles with his mother, he lets everyone return to Earth but tells Yoh that he still hates humanity, will only let them deal with their problems before passing judgment, and not to be so brash.

Funbari no Uta

During the time jump between the main series and Funbari no Uta, Anna married Yoh and gave birth to a boy named Asakura Hana. She and Yoh begin to travel the world with their infant son, but while in the Middle East, they were killed and ended up in Hao's kingdom in the Great Spirit. There, Anna forces him to revive all three of them through blackmail. Hao does this by implanting Oni into Hana to act as a fail-safe to prevent her from dying. Some time after this, Hana is given to Tamao to be raised under her care and after Anna and Yoh are away for a long time, Hana comes to believe that Tamao is her real mother. Anna was briefly seen in the Funbari no Uta walking with an adult Asakura Yoh from the Funbari Hill station to the inn.

When Yoh and Anna finally arrive in Funbari, they get lost in the airport, which annoys Ren greatly when he finds out and calls Ryu to come get them. When Chocolove, Ren and Horohoro are discussing their last meeting with Hao, Yoh and Anna finally arrive and Yoh says his slogan that "everything will work out in the end" and says it will be because that's what they promised him. Yoh turns out to have become very tall and his hair is extremely long. He then awkwardly tries to apologize for his and Anna's absence by saying that they had things to do all over the world and couldn't come back sooner. At first, Hana seems to be in tears and even stutters the word "daddy" in her gut.

When they return to the Funbari Inn, Yoh and Anna sit at the shrine of their deceased friends and family and say their prayers. Towards the end, Ryu prepares a feast and we see them all celebrating together and even Manta arrives to everyone's delight except Ren who was attacking Horohoro.

Later that night, a package arrives from Patch Village and Anna enters to reveal that it is a book about the shaman fights that took place in Tokyo. She says that their battle is not over yet and that they should remember that the next shaman fights are only half a millennium away. When Yoh, lying in front of her, says that he was so far back in time that even the Oh-Oni would laugh at her, she stomps on his face and calls him naive. As the group wonders who could have written it, Yoh stands up and asks Anna directly while nursing her sore cheek. She says that the next battle may be five centuries away, but she still wants one of Asakura's descendants to take the crown of the shaman king and orders Yoh to start reading it. She gives Yoh a dark look and says that he does not dare to forget the promise he made to her.

Flowers

He is mentioned only by name and appears in a flashback and a 13-year-old version of himself is summoned by his brother, Hao, to test his son who is the same age.
