Eren Jaeger

Eren Jäger is one of the main characters in the Attack of the Titans franchise. In the anime, he is dubbed in Japanese by Yūki Kaji.

Eren was born and raised in the Shiganshina District, in the southern side of the Pink Wall. He lived there until the year 845, when the Colossal Titan and the Dreadnought Titan created a breach in the Wall, allowing the Titans to infiltrate the District. Eren saw his mother killed and eaten by one of them. From this comes his intense hatred for the creatures, his promise to wipe them off the face of the Earth.

Two years later, Eren and his adopted sister, Mikasa, joined the Exploration Battalion.

After finding the basement and his father's memories, Eren discovered the truth about the Titans and the history of Eldia and Marley. Eren then vowed to free his home from its true enemies: the rest of humanity living beyond the sea.

History

Eren was born in the Shiganshina District, south of the Maria Wall, to Carla and Grisha Jäger. His best friend was already Armin Arlert, whom he often defended from the bullies in their neighborhood. It was also Armin who made him want to leave the Walls and discover the outside world. Thus, Eren wanted to join the Exploration Battalion, the only armed forces allowed to go out, at a very young age. Because of their dream, Eren and Armin were seen as heretics.

Personality

Eren is described as a strong-willed, passionate, impulsive person who wants more than anything to protect humanity and escape the Walls. As a child, he already wanted to join the Exploration Battalion.

Apparence

As a human, Eren has an average male physique. He has short brown hair and his eyes appear to have a turquoise color. During his time in the 104th Training and Reconnaissance Corps, Eren has acquired a larger muscular build. Although this is hardly noticeable, due to the amount of clothing he wears.

After the time jump, Eren has changed noticeably. He is now a bit taller, his hair is longer and he has gained facial hair. He looks overall like his father, Grisha Jäger.

In his "Attack Titan" form, Eren stands 50 feet tall. He has hair long enough to reach his shoulders and pointed ears. His most interesting features are his teeth, which appear to have a jagged shape, and are on the outside of his face, reaching his side cheeks without lips to cover them. Like some of the other Titans, Eren's Titan form has a muscular and humanoid appearance, but without unique features.

When Eren was a mindless Titan, he had a very short appearance with a large head and short arms and legs. His overall appearance was a mix between his human appearance and his attack Titan form, with his normal hair, but also his sharp teeth and crooked nose.

In his Founder Titan form, Eren is mostly skeletal in appearance, with spikes growing out of the back of his elongated spine, causing his upper body to become vastly disproportionate and massively dominate the Colossus Titans in the walls. This makes him the largest titan in the series to date.

Powers and abilities

Powers of the nine Titans

In general, Eren Jäger has access to the basic power and abilities of a Titan. However, having access to the Attack, Foundation and Warhammer Titans, Eren also has special abilities granted by these three Titans.

• Superhuman Strength: As a Titan, Eren has demonstrated strength far beyond human capabilities on multiple occasions. These include carrying a huge boulder over his head, hitting the female Titan with enough force to send it flying, moving the collossal titans.
• He was also able to break the armor of the armored Titan at one point, relying on his martial skills. As far as opposition goes, Eren's titan form is equal to that of the female titan, the armored titan, the jawed titan, and the other titans, with a few exceptions such as the colossal titan, the hammer titan, and even the beast titan, as he single-handedly defeated the armored titan much faster than Eren himself.
• Superhuman Resistance: Eren, in his Titan form, showed that he could take Reiner's and Annie's blows and get up quickly on his toes, despite his destroyed jaw and the hundreds of blows he received.
• Superhuman Speed: Eren, in his titanic form, can move at speeds beyond human capabilities. His speed has been shown to rival that of the female Titan.
• Superhuman Stamina: In his first transformation, he defeated 20 mindless Titans with moderate difficulty. His stamina improves during his stay in Marley, where he transforms into a Titan three times in a row without rest.
• Regenerative Healing Factor: Eren can heal from serious injuries and wounds as a Titan and as a normal human. He has also shown the ability to stop the regeneration process and maintain it for a long period of time, including when he cut off his leg to play the role of a wounded Marleyan soldier.
• Healing Weaning: As mentioned briefly, Eren can retain his regenerative healing for 3 years while infiltrating the Marleyan army; similar to Reiner Braun while in the Paradise army.
• Crystal Hardening: After drinking Rod Reiss' bottle of "Armor", Eren gained the ability to harden his Titan form. This ability ranges from hardening his fists to hardening his entire body. His hardened fists are strong and durable enough to break through armored Titan armor and can hold massive structures in place.
• Hardening and Structure Creation: With the powers of the War Hammer Titan, Eren is able to create a variety of solid structures from the flesh of his Titan and can use them to set traps, ambush opponents, or create weapons.
• Inheritance of Future Memory/Clairvoyance: Through the powers of the Attack Titan, Eren is able to see the memories of future heirs or pass on his memories to previous users.
• Coordinator/Founder: Through the powers of the Founder Titan, Eren has access to the Coordinate, where all the paths of Eldian converge. Through the Coordinate, the Founder is able to manipulate Ymir's subjects (all connected to the Coordinate) in almost any way possible, as they act as if they were part of the Founder's own body. This allows the Founder to alter the body composition of all Ymir subjects and could have several applications, including, but probably not limited to, memory manipulation, immunity to disease, telepathy, and potential sterilization of their bodies. The Founder can also cause any Ymir subject to become any type of mindless Titan the Founder desires and his control over them is completely absolute. Although he originally could not freely use the Coordinate because he has no royal blood and had to come into contact with either Zeke or Dina (members of the royal family) to access it, after Ymir Fritz was convinced by Eren that she was not a slave to the royal family, she granted him the full power of the Coordinate and can now use its immense power without any restrictions.

Capabilities

Martial arts : Eren was trained intensely in hand-to-hand combat, which he used mostly in his Titan form to fight other Titans.

Three-dimensional equipment : At first, Eren seemed to have little use for this equipment. In the first few balance tests, he kept tipping forward and couldn't keep himself upright. On his last attempt, he managed to stay upright but only for a short time. It was revealed, however, that his equipment was damaged and it was a miracle that he managed to stay upright.

Why did Eren become a Titan?

The answer to this question is very simple: thanks to a serum composed of titan's spinal cord. 💉 During his young age, Eren was injected in him this substance by his doctor father who was working precisely on the issue of titans. From then on, our young hero possessed in him the potential to transform one day and take the appearance of a Titan.

How does Eren transform into a Titan?

1 - A specific objective

2 - Intense pain

What is the name of Eren's Titan?

1 - The Titan Assailant

Generally speaking, the name of Eren's Titan is the Titan Assailant. This one has this name because of its behavior during its first encounter with the troops of the garrison. 👥 Unlike other creatures with aggressive behavior towards humans, the Assaulting Titan showed no signs of interest in Mikasa, against whom he might have instead fought in the street. Instead, he focused all his attacks on the other titans in Trost County.

He has a medium-length haircut and a prominent musculature that perfectly matches his overdeveloped strength. In fact, he is capable of decapitating a Titan with a single punch. 👣 Measuring 15 meters tall, he presents a great speed of action and can easily outrun human troops during a sprint.

With small glowing eyes and a gaunt jaw, his titan appearance is a far cry from Eren's, though they do share some physical traits. It is interesting to note that like any host, the fighter of the exploration battalion is able to perform a partial transformation of his body only as needed. Thus, he was able to protect himself from a cannonball with his hand, for example. 💣

2 - The Original Titan

Even though it has a single global appearance, Eren's titan is called by several names throughout the story. Each of these names refers to a particular form with specific powers and a different level of mastery on the part of its host. The Original Titan is the second name given to Eren Jäger's titan.

Unlike the Assailant Titan which is unique in its form, the Original Titans are the first 9 titans created in the history of the manga. 📚 All of them possess very specific powers and abilities that place them above the other creatures of their species. They dominate them besides largely, both physically and technically.

During his adventure, Eren will take possession of this Titan whose most powerful skills allow him to create and control other titans. 😎 His appearance will not be impacted and he will keep the physicality of the Assaulting Titan. More than a real transformation, it is essentially a specific form that adds a superhuman dimension to the hero of the series and expands his scope to achieve his goals.

What are the powers of Eren's Titan?

1 - An uncommon power

3 - The rage of the Berserker 

Finally, even if this power is directly linked to the Titan's superhuman strength, we couldn't miss his so-called Berserker form. First appearing against the Female Titan, this evolution of the Assaulter Titan allows him to increase his power tenfold by unleashing his full strength. 😈 Although he is conscious and able to hear his surroundings, Eren loses almost all control of his Titan in this posture. He is then only guided by rage that he turns into an additional weapon against his opponent with the sole purpose of killing him.
