He is often seen wearing Yuei's sports uniform, which consists of a dark blue t-shirt and pants of the same color, with the letters U and A stamped on them. The pants also have thick vertical white lines on each leg.
He has the same bands as Eraserhead (Mr. Aizawa, the main teacher of the second A class) which are used to capture and a detachable mask which can change the sound of his vocal cords in order to better manipulate other people. He also has the same yuei sports uniform as his clothes.
Personality
Hitoshi is a very stoic and direct person with an innate ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, yet maintain a reserved and calm demeanor most of the time. He is shown to be quite intelligent, being able to manipulate others into responding to his provocations, allowing him to activate his Alter.
Due to his Brainwashing Alter, which is perceived to be that of a villain, Hitoshi was somehow feared by those who were warned of his power and was rejected because of it. This led him to become jealous of those who have an Alter more suited to being a Hero, using Midoriya as an example by telling him that someone "blessed" with an Alter like his would never understand what it is ďto have an Alter like him. Shinso nonetheless desires to be a pro hero more than anything in the world, with a deep desire to prove those who doubted his heroic intentions wrong.
While he made it clear that he had no intention of making friends, Shinso was soon surrounded by students who see him as a friend, including Izuku, Denki and Neito.
Skills and Competencies
General Abilities : At first, Hitoshi lacked direct combat abilities, choosing to rely on the power of his alter in battle. But after deciding to move into Yuei's heroic section, he underwent training that was supervised by his mentor, Eraser Head. Hitoshi showed the results of his training when he took part in the Common Training. During the two rounds of this exercise that he participated in, Hitoshi also displayed excellent camaraderie, using the voice modification feature of his Persona Chords, to confuse his opponents, blinding them so that they are vulnerable to the surprise attacks of Hitoshi's teammates.
Ribbons : Since he saw himself in Hitoshi, Shota decided to secretly train him in the fighting style he developed that involves the use of Ribbons. After several months of training, Hitoshi is able to use this style for the first time during Common Training. At the beginning of the first round, Hitoshi manages to brainwash Jurota Shishida and tries to demonstrate his skill with the capture weapon, but his reaction time is too slow as he needed to use the cloth at a much faster rate to make his attack more effective. After Denki's plan to split the attention of the opposing team succeeds, Jurota looks for Hitoshi, who effectively uses his ribbon technique to blind and dazzle the creeping student long enough for Tsuyu Asui to throw Hiryu Rin at the giant, it's a win for Hitoshi's team. Despite the victory, Hitoshi is frustrated because he couldn't apply much of his hero knowledge to combat. Shota tells him that he wouldn't need him if he could already do everything, and says that it took him six years to master his ribbon.
Alter
Brainwashing: Shinso's Alter allows him to control people who respond to him verbally, so they are forced to obey any of his commands. However, his Alter only activates if he really wants to brainwash the person.
Shinso can brainwash several people at once, but if he tries to do this, he may pass out. He is not able to make his victims do commands that require advanced brain functions, like writing a name from their memory.

History
Hitoshi has always known, because of the nature of his Alter, that people would see him as a ready-made super-villain. This has always made him feel inferior, and he resents those who have Alters more suited for combat, as his is rejected by society.
When a crowd blocks the exit of Second A, Katsuki Bakugo claims that the crowd is there to analyze the opponents. Hitoshi walks to the front of the crowd. He directly confronts Katsuki and explains that although he wanted to be in the Heroic Stream, he was forced to take a different path. With the Yuei Sports Championship approaching, Hitoshi and other students will have the opportunity to have a place in the Heroic Classes. After explaining this, Hitoshi says that he is not here to analyze, he is here to declare war.
A few weeks later, Hitoshi and his classmates from the general studies course take the field for the opening ceremony. Afterwards, Hitoshi participates in the obstacle course, avoiding Shoto Todoroki's ice while being carried by other students, and places twenty-seventh.
After qualifying for the cavalry battle, Shinso teams up with Nirengeki Shoda, Yuga Aoyama and Mashirao Ojiro and brainwashes them. At the end of the cavalry battle, Team Shinso placed third after Hitoshi used his alter to brainwash Team Tetsutetsu and steal their points. Afterwards, he thanks his "teammates" for their hard work.
The last event of the festival turns out to be an individual fighting tournament. Hitoshi tries to confront Izuku Midoriya, his opponent for the first round, but Mashirao warns Izuku not to respond to Hitoshi's provocations.
As their match begins, Hitoshi insults Mashirao, calling him an idiot for throwing away his chance to be in the finals, just because his pride wouldn't let him compete because he felt he didn't really deserve it. This provokes Izuku, who starts to run towards Hitoshi and yells at him not to insult Mashirao. This response is more than enough for Hitoshi to activate his alter, allowing him to brainwash Izuku, who suddenly stops due to being put into a Hitoshi trance.
Now that he has taken control of Izuku with his alter, Hitoshi tells him that he is lucky to have been blessed with a "heroic" alter. Hitoshi then orders Izuku to turn around and walk outside the boundaries. Izuku obeys and begins to walk slowly towards the edge of the ring. However, just before walking out of bounds, Izuku uses One For All to break his fingers and break free of Hitoshi's control. Hitoshi tries to get Izuku to talk, but eventually realizes that Mashirao must have warned him before the match. Izuku tries to push Hitoshi out, but he hits Izuku twice to stop him.
He keeps trying to force a reaction from Izuku by talking about how his alter puts him at a disadvantage and how Izuku is blessed to have a heroic one. Then Hitoshi goes to push Izuku out of bounds, but Izuku counters and throws Hitoshi's shoulder out of the ring. Having lost, Hitoshi seems to be very irritated. Izuku tries to console him by asking him what drives him to become a hero, but Hitoshi says it's just what his heart desires and leaves the ring.
Despite his loss, Hitoshi is greeted with praise from his classmates, as well as praise from several spectators. Having been encouraged, Hitoshi tells Izuku that even though he lost, he will always become a better hero than everyone else in the heroic class. When Izuku responds, Hitoshi temporarily manipulates him and stops to warn Izuku not to let his guard down. Hitoshi then tells Izuku not to lose and leaves.
After the festival is over, Hitoshi joins the Second B to watch the award ceremony.
At some point after the Sports Championship, Shota started to train Hitoshi.
