Apparence
Kento is a well-built man with neatly combed blond hair. Kento has very thin eyebrows and small eyes that are usually covered by rimless sunglasses.
Like a former office worker, Kento is usually dressed in a business suit. His usual suit consists of a blue shirt and a beige blazer with matching pants and brown shoes. Kento's sword is strapped to his back by a sheath hidden by the blazer. He also wears a tie with the same dotted pattern as on the fabric around his sword.
After graduating from exorcism school, He wore a vertical striped jacket over a white shirt and a dark tie with white dots, vertical striped pants and black shoes. Kento's hair was slightly different when he was younger.
Personality
Kento is a very intelligent and reserved man who seems to be very serious about his work. He says he is an exorcist because it is a less stupid job than other "normal" careers. He is in complete contrast to Yuji Itadori's other mentor, Satoru Gojo, who is much more outspoken and easygoing than Kento.
Kento has a distant and stoic attitude in all situations. He is very direct and easily irritated, especially when it comes to Yuji.
Underneath his tough exterior, Kento is a good man with moral values. He treats Yuji like a child because he doesn't want to see him give up his youth just to become an exorcist.
Even though Kento and Satoru have been friends for a long time, Kento claims that he does not respect his comrade despite their mutual trust. He also refused to recognize Yuji as an exorcist, until Yuji saved his life.
Originally an office worker, Kento left his former career because he never felt truly appreciated and because his work had no impact on anyone. On the other hand, his work as an exorcist brought him appreciation from others. This was more than enough to bring him back to being an exorcist and allow him to live a life without regrets.

History
Satoru's Past Arc
In his sophomore year at the Tokyo Exorcism School, Kento teamed up with Yu Haibara to support Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo on a mission in Okinawa. A year later, Kento teamed up with Yu again to exorcise a class 2 plague, but the mission proved to be more difficult than they thought. After the mission is over, Kento is in the morgue while Suguru examines Yu's corpse, and Kento explains why this mission was out of their league.
After his studies
After finishing his studies, Kento decided not to be an exorcist anymore, because he considered it too hard to be willing to sacrifice himself for a mission. Kento then started working as an office worker, but he didn't find any meaning in this job. It was while exorcising a plague that was causing problems for a baker that Kento realized that he wanted to be an exorcist again.
Kento meets Yuji Itadori thanks to Satoru, because he doesn't have time to train him, so Kento is given the task. He explains them what kind of exorcist he is, and also that he doesn't approve Yuji (as a Sukuna's receptacle). Yuji answers that he wants to become stronger and progress, to which Kento says that it is not for him to see that but for the superiors.
Bow Against Mahito
Kento and Yuji investigate an incident in a movie theater, and he tells Yuji how to see the dirt. Following the tracks, Kento and Yuji wonder how they could find a witness to the murder. They then encounter two plagues, and they each deal with one. Kento begins to explain how his spell works and discovers Yuji's. He notices that there is something wrong with the plagues and prevents Yuji from completing one of them. Kento has them examined by Shoko Ieiri, who reveals that the plagues were once humans. After discovering this, the two leave to continue their investigation. Several people have disappeared and there have been several mysterious deaths, so Kento decides to ask Yuji to investigate Junpei Yoshino while he follows a different trail.
Kento heads to the sewers where he comes into contact with Mahito. They start to fight and Kento plans to finish the fight quickly because he doesn't like to work overtime. Because he manages to break Mahito's arm, Mahito stops fighting to explain how his technique works and heals his arm. While Mahito wonders what would happen if he used his technique on an exorcist, Kento simply looks at his watch and says that he has to finish before 6pm. After 18 hours, Kento wraps his tie around his hand and uses his Division by 10 Spell: Decombs. Kento then uses it on a wall so that a large amount of rubble falls on Mahito. As Mahito looks at the rubble, Kento uses his spell to wound him in the leg, and walks away.
Then, Kento contacts Kiyotaka Ijichi and reveals what happened. After hanging up, he thinks about what kind of person he is. Later, Yuji finds out what happened to Kento and asks him to take him away next time, but the exorcist explains why it's not necessary and asks Yuji to continue watching Junpei.
The next day, Kento deals with Mahito's mutated humans in the sewers with Takuma Ino. Kento contacts Yuji not to go to Junpei's school, but he ignores him. Kento leaves Takuma to deal with the cursed spirits, and leaves for Satozakura High School.
Kento arrives just in time to defend Yuji, as Mahito was about to deal him a fatal blow. Kento asks about the situation and Yuji reveals everything that happened. After discovering that Yuji can harm Mahito, Kento asks Yuji to fight Mahito with him. As Kento and Yuji fight against Mahito, Mahito decides to change his tactics and attacks Yuji with his mutated humans. Kento fights against Mahito, but the scourge manages to hold him back. As Mahito goes to finish Kento off, Yuji appears and frees Kento. The two exorcists continue to overwhelm Mahito with attacks, until Mahito uses Orb of Isolation, his Territory Extension, to trap Kento. Kento reflects and concludes that he is at Mahito's mercy. He prepares to confront him at the risk of his life because he has no regrets, but Yuji pierces the territory and Sukuna wounds Mahito, which cancels the scourge technique. Yuji tries to finish Mahito but the scourge manages to escape. As Kento considers cutting off Mahito's escape route, he notices Yuji lying on the ground and goes to check on him. Later that day, Kento meets up with Yuji and they talk about the events that happened that day.
Bow Tournament
On the day of the Inter-school friendship, Kento is with Satoru and they talk about what happened at Satozakura high school and about Yuji.
Shibuya Arc Drama
On October 31, Kento is with Megumi Fushiguro and Takuma at Shibuya station, near exit 13, when they are informed of the situation by Kiyotaka. As Takuma explains the principle of a curtain to Megumi, Kento tells Takuma that Megumi already knows all this and to stop trying to impress Megumi. Kento then wonders where Satoru is.
Later, when the citizens in the curtain are attacked by mutated humans, Kento, Megumi and Takuma head to it to protect the people. Kento and Megumi discuss why the mutated humans are only attacking now and Kento decides to head towards the enemy responsible for the curtain while Megumi and Takuma will do their best to save the civilians.
When Kento hears Yuji's call, he and Megumi and Takuma join them. Kokichi Muta explains what happened to them and what is the best course of action. Kento agrees with Kokichi's plans and says that they should first remove the curtain surrounding Shibuya. Kento proposes to go and meet Kiyotaka while Megumi, Yuji and Takuma will take care of the curtain. Kento tells Takuma that he is in charge and that they should explain the situation to Naobito Zenin and Atsuya Kusakabe if they meet them. Kento then leaves to find Kiyotaka.
Later, Kento finds Kiyotaka lying on the ground injured. After finding him in this state, Kento gets angry and leaves.
Kento then meets Nobara Kugisaki and Haruta Shigemo, who is the enemy that attacks the assistants that allow communication inside the curtain. Kento starts to walk towards the enemy and he tries to stop him by blackmailing him using Akari Nitta as a hostage, but then he notices that his hostage is gone. When Kento gets closer to Haruta, the latter tries to attack him but he notices that nothing works. Kento asks him where are his allies and how many of them are. Haruta says he doesn't know and Kento sends him flying into a wall. As Haruta gets up, Kento attacks him and asks him again several times. When Haruta tries to attack with his sword from behind, Nobara saves Kento. While the master of the plagues is angry with Nobara, Kento catches him and asks him if he is the one who kills all the assistants. Haruta apologizes, but Kento sends him flying through a building again.
After that, Kento explains to Akari and Nobara the situation with Kiyotaka and how Satoru was sealed. Kento then says that he will join Zenin and the others at level -5. Nobara wants to join him, but Kento says that the upcoming fight is reserved for class 1, and that she would only be in the way. Kento then tells the two of them to stay here while he leaves to help Satoru.
Kento manages to meet Naobito and Maki Zenin, and joins them as they enter Shibuya station. When the three meet a cursed spirit, Kento says he will take care of the spirit but Naobito intervenes. Kento then watches as Naobito fights the S-class scourge, Dagon.
When Naobito manages to distract him, Kento and Maki join him and attack Dagon. Dagon manages to defend himself, Kento notes that Dagon has a large amount of occult energy. When Naobito manages to understand how Dagon defends himself, the three of them overwhelm the scourge with attacks and force Dagon to retreat. However, Kento, Naobito and Maki are suddenly trapped in Dagon's Territory Extension, and Kento is instantly hit by a territory spell.
Dagon uses his Sea Monster Squad attack, and then Kento advises Maki to strike with all his might before he is swallowed up by the fish generated by the attack. Kento manages to survive the attack, and then Megumi enters Dagon's territory, using her own Territory Extension. Kento protects Megumi while he opens an exit for them to escape. When Megumi manages to create an exit, Kento gives the signal to retreat but they are shocked when Toji Fushiguro walks through the portal. After Toji goes through the portal, Kento asks about the portal but Megumi says that the portal closed and they then watch Toji confront Dagon. When Toji exorcises the plague, Kento thinks about how they only survived because Toji had arrived but also wonders if he is on their side. Toji suddenly takes Megumi aside, but Kento is more concerned about Jogo's arrival since he is stronger than Dagon. Kento is then easily eliminated by Jogo before he leaves him for dead.
Kento manages to get up, he is injured and continues on his way. When Kento meets a large number of mutated humans, Kento imagines himself living in a house in Malaysia and reading as many books as he wants. He then comes back to reality, exhausted. He worries about Maki, Megumi and Naobito and wonders what happened to them. He starts to attack the mutated humans, and finds himself face to face with Mahito. Mahito offers him to talk because he gave him a good time. Kento wonders if he wants to run away. Then he sees Yu pointing to his right. Kento turns around and sees Yuji. Yu asks him to tell him something, but Kento refuses thinking that it will become a curse for him. Kento tells Yuji that he counts on him for the next step, then Mahito finishes Kento.
Skills & Competencies
As a class 1 exorcist, Kento is considered to be in the top class of exorcists at the exorcism school. He is respected by other top exorcists such as Takuma Ino, Kiyotaka Ijichi and even by Satoru, who chose Kento to help Yuji in his evolution. Mahito, an S-class scourge, sees Kento as much stronger than the average exorcist, and therefore a real threat, even though Kento is not as strong as Satoru.
During the Shibuya Drama, Kento demonstrated his leadership ability, combined with great intelligence and strength in battle. He was able to make rescue plans for his allies that more or less worked. After finding Kiyotaka injured, Kento was quickly able to find the culprit, namely Haruta Shigemo, and defeated the scourge master without getting a scratch. Nobara Kugisaki noted that Kento was a true class 1 exorcist, admitting that his level was clearly higher than his own and the other students.
Trapped inside the Dagon Territory Extension, Kento was unable to take any offensive stance. However, he miraculously survived the relentless stream of Dagon's Sea Monster Squadron pets for over a minute, which surprised the territory's spellcaster. Once Megumi arrived and nullified Dagon's spells with his own territory, Kento focused on protecting Megumi and was able to easily take out any familiar that tried to attack the student despite his injuries.
Master Swordsman: Kento fights mainly with his sword, and with great skill. Combined with his spell, Kento can slice through anything, including an opponent using occult energy to defend himself. Kento wields his blade with grace and balance, and strikes with extreme speed and precision.
Proficient in hand-to-hand combat: In addition to being a good swordsman, Kento is also a good hand-to-hand combatant. His spell works equally well with his fists and his sword. Kento used this method to effortlessly overpower Haruta. Each of Kento's strikes was incredibly devastating, a single backhand was enough to send Haruta flying across the room. There was never a moment in the fight when Kento was in danger of being outflanked, he delivered a bone crushing blow to Haruta and Haruta would have died without his spell.
High tactical intelligence: Kento's greatest asset in battle (besides his spell) is his fighting instinct and deductive skills. Both times he fought Mahito, Kento knew he was inferior in terms of raw occult energy, however, he survived both fights and outperformed Mahito on several occasions due to his quick thinking and execution of his plans.
When Kento was assigned to Mahito's case, he was able to track down the appropriate clues that eventually led him to him. He also noticed that Mahito was deliberately leading him to his hideout. In their first encounter, Kento finally realized that his spell could not prevail against the scourge. To fight back, he used the environment around them to block Mahito. During their second fight, Kento quickly realized that Yuji could reach Mahito and inflict damage. He then immediately devised a strategy to dominate Mahito, which worked. At the mercy of Mahito's Territory Extension, Kento was able to instantly assess his situation and what advantages it gave Mahito.
Increased Resistance: Kento is incredibly resilient for a human. As mentioned before, he was able to survive being hit by Mahito's spell, kept fighting and eventually escaped more or less intact. When Haruta fought Kento, the master of scourges tried to attack Kento with his sword and his foot, but Kento escaped unharmed and hardly felt Haruta's blows. Haruta compared Kento to a stone wall and explained that he didn't feel like he was hitting anything human. Moreover, the exorcist was able to survive an endless swarm of man-eating fish familiars for more than a minute and was attacked by Jogo shortly afterwards. He miraculously survived both and was even able to continue fighting, unlike Maki and Naobito who were on the verge of death.
Increased precision and technique: Kento is an extremely technical fighter who plans to use all his moves to exploit an opening in his opponent. His aim is always extremely precise: he never misses his target's weak point when it is exposed by his spell. Against stronger opponents, Kento fights by creating weak points and exploiting them until they eventually fall. This same level of precision allows Kento to evade his opponents' attacks through clever maneuvers, such as raising his legs high enough to avoid an attack by Mahito by sticking his sword into a wall.
Jujutsu
Great Occult Energy: Kento seems to have a large reserve of occult energy. After using his spell several times in battle, Kento shows no signs of fatigue. Even after being injured in his first fight with Mahito, he was able to use his spell Decombs, which needs even more occult energy than his usual spell. In addition, Kento has so much control over his occult energy that he unconsciously uses it to protect his soul.
Split by 10 Spell: Kento's innate technique divides his target into ten sections and forcibly creates a weak point in the seventh section. The lines of the target do not have to match the length or span of the target. Kento can freely choose which part to divide, including subjects and body parts. This technique is also applicable to non-living objects.
- Rubble: An advanced technique that creates a large weak point in the environment, allowing Kento to destroy it with a single blow.
Oath: Kento uses a self-imposed oath to increase his power. He uses an oath that limits the amount of occult energy he uses during his official work hours. Once he exceeds his hours and the overtime begins, Kento's occult energy increases exponentially. He usually couples this oath with a restriction commonly used by exorcists, which is to divulge how his technique works to increase the amount of occult energy he puts into his next attack.
Black Ray: A technique that creates a spatial distortion when a user connects with an impact of cursed energy within 0.000001 seconds of the physical hit. The phenomenon creates an attack that multiplies the power of the attack by 2.5 times itself. Kento has been able to execute the Black Ray up to four times consecutively, but he claims to have been lucky.
Equipment
Blunt Sword: Kento's main weapon in battle is a blunt sword wrapped in cloth with a splattered black dot pattern. The sword itself is short with a wooden handle. The same dot pattern is present on Kento's tie, which he will sometimes wrap around his fists. He uses both to activate his innate technique and strikes the weak point of his target. This sword is also a cursed object.
