History
Using special technology, Mitsuki was created as a modified clone of Orochimaru, being grown from the same embryo as at least one older "Mitsuki", and raised in a test tube. Like his "brother", Mitsuki was named after "Tsuki" (坏, literally meaning: Shallow Bowl) and the sixth sign of the Chinese zodiac calendar, "Mi" (巳, literally meaning: Snake). In case anyone learned what Mitsuki was, Orochimaru implanted a strong Junejutsu on her heart, which would automatically activate, causing Mitsuki to self-destruct in order to conceal the secrets of Orochimaru's research.
Orochimaru, as Mitsuki's "parent", wanted Mitsuki to find her independence, having concocted an elaborate plot for Mitsuki to do so. On Orochimaru's sixth attempt at the plan, each time erasing Mitsuki's memories of the previous one, Mitsuki mastered Transformation Sage and decided to rebel against his "parent" and "older brother." He left their company and set out to forge his own destiny, under the name "Mitsuki" (巳月, Mitsuki ) replacing the second character with "Tsuki" (月, literally meaning :Moon). Upon discovering Boruto's existence via a gift from Orochimaru, Mitsuki realized the truth, that Orochimaru wanted him to find his own way in life. Mitsuki then decided to go to Konoha and befriend Boruto to really find out who he is. The Seventh Hokage accepted Mitsuki without prejudice and hid the child's background from the rest of the village, excluding his close friend and advisor and a few others; even the Konoha Council and the Fifth Hokage were unaware of it at the time.
Personality
Mitsuki has a very calm and down-to-earth demeanor. He is generally considered to be very cheerful, even indifferent, to the current situation. Although he is not confrontational, he expresses himself freely in any situation and does things at his own pace. He is also shown to have a sharp mind, to be cultured and observant, and to have advanced knowledge of mathematics and the history of other villages. He is quite close to Boruto, caring about his opinion above most others. He is also shown to work well with Boruto in coordinated attacks. Apparently stemming from his rough upbringing with Orochimaru, Mitsuki is very vicious in battle, showing no restraint and ready to kill his enemies without hesitation. He is also very motivated and committed when given a task, as when ordered to kill someone, he does not hesitate, no matter who it is. During his time at the academy, it doesn't seem that he had much of a friendship with Sarada Uchiha until they were assigned to the Konohamaru team.
Although he didn't reveal much about his origins or his parents to them, Mitsuki cares about his teammates, Boruto and Sarada, to the point that he never hesitates to rush to their side when they are in danger or need help. Mitsuki thinks highly of Boruto as the son of the seventh Hokage and grandson of the fourth Hokage. His attachment is such that he chose not to display his Wise Mode even though its use could have helped him during the Chūnin exams, fearing that he would not be able to stay in Konoha, and its exposure also being embarrassing to Orochimaru. His concern for his friends even outweighed his desire to stay in Konoha, as he was willing to reveal his Sage mode to protect Boruto. Aside from her generally calm or cheerful personality, Mitsuki has great uncertainties about the nature of her being. Wondering what it means to be human and have his own identity, he even doubts that his choices are really his own. Apparently wanting to better validate his existence, he enjoys meeting and connecting with new people.
Mitsuki seems to admire Naruto and Sasuke Uchiwa because they are both high ranking shinobi, and tells Boruto and Sarada how his parent told him that their fathers were rivals who could fight equally. Mitsuki also has a lot of admiration for his parent as well as confidence in his abilities, to the point of being naive, as he showed when he bragged to Boruto and Sarada that Orochimaru was even more powerful than both their fathers. Although he chose to follow his own path rather than what Orochimaru did for him (which he secretly wanted), Mitsuki adapted some of Orochimaru's personality quirks, including taking samples of everything unique about him.
As noted by his classmates, Mitsuki prefers to spend his time in Boruto's company and often accepts and follows his ideas without complaint. although he rarely points out the flaws in Boruto's plans. Mitsuki is also a minimalist, his house having only the necessities and some pictures. When asked by Sarada, Mitsuki explained that he had no interest in the Extreme: Shinobi Picture Scrolls card game, even though Boruto liked it; making it one of the few things they disagree on. Mitsuki considers buying trading cards a waste of money. While Mitsuki has even more trouble understanding animals than humans, he adopts a stray cat that he names Mikazuki.
Apparence
Mitsuki has tousled blue-white hair, thin eyebrows, golden eyes and a pale complexion that he inherited from his parents. According to several girls in his class, he is very handsome.
His attire consists of a loose two-tone light and dark blue kimono shirt with puffy, overly long sleeves, fastened with a thick khaki gray Ono stylized belt, and a pair of navy blue pants. In addition to his outfit, he wears long black mittens and calf-length black shinobi sandals. Upon becoming a shinobi, Mitsuki starts wearing a black Konoha headband on his head.
Capabilities
Mitsuki is an exceptionally talented shinobi for his age, noted by Orochimaru as potentially more powerful than the Sannin himself. At the Academy, he greatly excelled in both ninja and academic learning, and by his final exam, fought Shino Aburame into submission (though he only destroyed one marker to eliminate Shino). He easily advanced to the final of the Chūnin exams, and is considered skilled as a chūnin.
Chakra and physical prowess
As an Orochimaru clone, Mitsuki has extremely high chakra levels for his age, enough to reach Sage mode. He is extremely fast and agile, able to avoid attacks and redirect them against the enemy. He is very advanced in taijutsu. Like his parent, Mitsuki's fighting style is very fluid and graceful, able to seamlessly weave through his opponent's defenses and strike with great flexibility. Similar to a snake, his specialty seems to be body holds and chokes. He was also able to hold his own against Suigetsu Hōzuki in a brief fight.
Physical changes
As a synthetic clone created by Orochimaru, he was designed to be genetically perfect. He can heal from minor wounds in seconds without lingering signs, regenerate limbs lost over time, and does not need food or water to feed himself. Mitsuki can turn her fingernails into claws, has infrared ray detection, and can hear low frequency waves. Mitsuki's body structure is known to be exceptionally strong, able to withstand more damage than most. In addition, her immune system can withstand more infections and recover from those that it cannot in a short period of time. Mitsuki is able to communicate with animals, understand them clearly and ask for their help.
Ninjutsu
Mitsuki's signature ability is the soft physical modification technique, allowing him to stretch or contort his body to use it as a weapon and hindrance. He can break through barriers simply by touching them. Like carrying a sword for a mission, this involves kenjutsu skills. In the anime, he showed considerable cutting prowess, able to slice cleanly through a metal beam. He is very stealthy, regularly sneaking up on his friends without them noticing. In addition, he can also use sleight-of-hand tactics, hiding needles in his mouth to launch himself with considerable power.
Mitsuki can use the summoning technique to summon snakes, with which he can perform hidden snake hands from the shadows, as well as the snake clone technique. With them, he can use them to detect movement from a distance, record verbal messages for them to transmit, and after teaching one of his snakes the scents of his friends, Mitsuki can use it to follow his comrades. He also excels in medical ninjutsu and curse techniques.
Natural transformation
Mitsuki is a master of wind and lightning, able to create strong winds with the former and to generate and discharge electricity with the latter. He is a skilled sensor, able to detect the presence of enemies in the whole area. He is also able to effectively perform Cooperative Ninjutsu and Fūinjutsu , able to use both to restrict a person's movements and extend their power alongside other users.
Senjutsu
Mitsuki has the ability to use Sage Transformation, which can be activated easily. Unique to him, he gains a shroud of cyan chakra that transforms into ethereal snakes around his body to aid in his attack range allowing him to catch and bite opponents, and he grows a single horn from his forehead. His speed increases tremendously, as evidenced by the time he managed to snatch a scroll and a key from Orochimaru before realizing that Mitsuki had moved. Mitsuki is also able to attain Sage Mode, which is considered a dangerous power when used in conjunction with the Sage Transformation for too long. Prolonged use causes Mitsuki's cells to fail, damaging his organs beyond repair, forcing him to be put on life support and Orochimaru to grow new ones from scratch.
New era
Entrance arch of the Academy
After immigrating from the rebuilt Otogakure to Konoha, Mitsuki was allowed to transfer to Konoha Academy as a sign of mutual trust between the villages. In the anime, keeping an eye on Boruto since his arrival in the village, Mitsuki wondered how he could confirm whether Boruto was the sun or not, during which he observed Shino Aburame's class manipulate Nue when she was going wild. Later, when a student expelled from the Academy possessed by Nue went on a rampage, Mitsuki overpowered him and in the process met Boruto, Shikadai Nara and Iwabee Yuino.. The next day, he joined Shino's class, where he took an interest in Boruto. During a combat training against Iwabee, Mitsuki quickly proved to be superior, during which Boruto had to intervene so that Iwabee wouldn't be killed, which made Mitsuki apologize. Later that night, Mitsuki reported his day to Otogakure via his snake.
The next day, Shino held a welcome party for Mitsuki, during which Shino's bugs scared some of the students, leading Mitsuki to comply with Denki Kaminarimon's request to get rid of the bugs and make them disappear using Wind Release . Her actions lead to the destruction of the party venue. Then, Mitsuki saved Boruto while he and other students dealt with a possessed repairman who was on a rampage. The ordeal led Shino to feel guilty that his absence put his students in danger, which led Nue to take advantage of his grief and possess him. The next morning, Shino asked Mitsuki, Shikadai and Boruto to meet him for after-school classes on the outskirts of the village. Proclaiming that he would kill the troublemakers, the three were forced to retreat to a forest, where he suggested that their only option was to kill their teacher. Shikadai convinced the two to instead take advantage of Kikaichū's weakness to water to defeat Shino. While the other students distracted Shino, Mitsuki dragged him into a river and electrocuted him , which allowed Shino to be freed from his possession. Weak and unable to reach the surface, Boruto dove in after him, but found himself drowning, which led to Shino saving the boys with his giant summoned insect.
After Boruto noted that the chakra that possessed Magire Kakuremino had taken the form of a monster, Mitsuki sent the information back to Otogakure, during which he wondered why only Boruto could see it. After writing absence notes for himself, Shikadai, and Boruto, Mitsuki handed them in to the Academy to skip class and spend all day looking for possessed villagers. Since the notes were written incorrectly, the three were discovered for their deception. The next day, Shino assigned his class to tail work locations for work experience. Choosing the Konoha Central Post Office with the other two, the boys could stay on the lookout for ghostly incidents while delivering mail with Tayori Kuroyagi . After Sumire and his friends were injured in one of the incidents, Mitsuki and his classmates visited them in the hospital, where the Seventh Hokage warned them of the potential danger they were investigating. Employing the help of other students in their investigation, the students lured the culprit of the incidents, which led Mitsuki to chase them into the sewers before letting them go. After the event, Mitsuki visited Sumire in the hospital and had one of his snakes bound to Sumire, while he inquired about her health and family.
Later, Mitsuki came to Boruto's house and met his family. When Naruto had to leave for an emergency, Mitsuki comforted Boruto and told him that he suspected that Sumire was behind the Ghost incident. Noticing Nue summoned to Senju Park, Boruto left for the scene, while Mitsuki was contacted from Otogakure through his snake and instructed to eliminate Sumire. Catching up, Boruto proclaimed that he would save all the villagers without having to kill Sumire, before Mitsuki's clone recycled him to carry out his mission. Stalking Sumire with the help of the snake he had implanted in her earlier, Mitsuki managed to hold Sumire back and intended to kill her, but was distracted by Boruto who had defeated his clone, which freed her. Determined to achieve her goal, Mitsuki resumed her fight with Sumire, which was interrupted by Boruto. Then, Nue grabbed Sumire from a portal above them, which led Boruto to chase her, allowing Mitsuki to follow her before she closed. Saving Boruto from Nue from the other dimension, Mitsuki blocked the beast while Boruto managed to hold it back. Intended to kill Nue, Mitsuki attacked but Sumire intervened and protected her. Continuing their fight, Boruto intercepted their attacks and stated that he didn't believe that she had faked her experience at the Academy, a thought that Mitsuki would never have considered. After Boruto changed Sumire's mind, the three fled to Konoha before the dimension collapsed.
Several weeks after Sumire's arrest, Shino decided to change the three-man teams for their next challenge to determine the optimal pairs for graduation. Mitsuki insisted on staying on Boruto's team and also teamed up with Lee. During their challenge to capture a flag, Mitsuki cut construction beams to stop his opponents, allowing Boruto to obtain the flag. Shino was then pulled aside regarding Sumire. As the class began to discuss the rumors that Sumire was transferring to another school, they were relieved to see her back in their class.
Arc Sarada Uchiwa
When Shino announced graduation exams in a week, Mitsuki noted that the day had finally arrived. At the Lightning Burger, he met Chōchō Akimichi and Sarada at a restaurant and had a little chat with the girls, noting that questioning their identity and self-esteem is common for girls their age and is commonly referred to as their "tragic heroine syndrome." . Shortly thereafter, Mitsuki joined Boruto to deliver her father's lunch for his trip, during which they met the girls from earlier and asked Chōchō to give Boruto and Sarada a minute to talk. Wondering if Mitsuki was about to confess her love, he replied that her symptoms were getting worse and that she needed professional help.
Bow versus Momoshiki
In the anime, some time after attending Boruto's birthday party with Sarada, Team 7 was assigned to apprehend four train robbers supposedly hiding in the abandoned Mountains' Graveyard mine . Upon arriving, they learn that one of the robbers has turned himself in, after telling them that his peer was killed by a white monster. While investigating, the team entered the mine, and was soon attacked by a white Zetsu . Forcing him to retreat, Konohamaru wanted the three genin to leave the mine while he confronted the Zetsu, but Sarada convinced him to let them accompany him. Following Konohamaru's strategy, the team managed to kill the White Zetsu. Going further into the ruins of the Ōtsutsuki clan to investigate, they discovered that Sasuke Uchiwa had killed the remaining White Zetsu before they entered. When the Konoha shinobi arrived after reporting the situation, the three genin were left behind to discuss the information.
Once Mitsuki's team completed their mission to capture a giant panda and reported their success to Naruto, Mitsuki and Sarada met with Boruto to persuade him to take the Chūnin exams, which Sarada was able to do. Entering the Chūnin exams with his teammates, the first round of exams involved a true or false quiz regarding a question about the fifth volume of a novel series. Standing in position to signify their answer, the floor beneath them unexpectedly gave way, causing all the genin to fall. Mitsuki stretched her limbs to keep Boruto from falling into the ink below, causing their team to pass. Progressing to the second part of the exams, they are pitted against a team of Kirigakure genin in a game of capture the flag. When Boruto is attacked by the team, Mitsuki decides to go help him. By the time he arrives, Boruto had already defeated all three. After Sarada captures the enemy flag, they qualify for the final. Then, he tells Boruto that he could really become Hokage one day.
On the day of the third round of exams, the event was structured as a one-two punch tournament, which led Mitsuki to face Toroi . After his match started, Mitsuki was able to defeat him effortlessly. While in the manga, the tournament was stopped before he could fight Sarada in the semi-finals, in the anime, Mitsuki participated in his semi-final match against Shinki instead. During their match, Mitsuki was able to defend himself against his opponent until Shinki pressured Mitsuki to rely on the use of Sage Transformation. In accordance with Orochimaru's request not to publicly reveal his true skills during the tournament, Mitsuki lost the match, deciding that continuing to live in Konoha was more important to him than winning. Watching Boruto win the final match against Sarada and Shinki, Mitsuki watched with neutral curiosity as to how Boruto would react to his disqualification for cheating .
Right after that, Momoshiki and Kinshiki Ōtsutsuki attacked the place looking for Naruto, which led Mitsuki to help evacuate the children from the area. In the anime, deciding to abandon his promise, Mitsuki activated the Sage mode to help Boruto, but was attacked before doing so by Urashiki Ōtsutsuki , who stole some of Mitsuki' s chakra which rendered him unconscious, during which Naruto protected him from Momoshiki' s final assault on the place. After Naruto was captured by the couple, Mitsuki alongside Sarada and Sakura Uchiwaa watched Boruto leave the village with the four Kage to rescue him. Before leaving, Boruto asked Mitsuki and Sarada to take care of the village while he was away. In the anime, Mitsuki was rendered comatose following Kinshiki's attack, left in Shizune's care while Naruto was rescued. A few days later, after having succeeded, Mitsuki secretly met Orochimaru, who reminded him how dangerous it is for him to use his power of Sage in front of the others, which Mitsuki ignored, assuming that it was necessary to help Boruto, who had become his bright sun. Accepting this, Orochimaru left, asking Mitsuki to come home from time to time so that he could personally see his son's growth. Mitsuki then joined his teammates in a mission to catch the same panda that was rampaging through Konoha.
Arc of Mitsuki's disappearance
In the anime, a Kage summit in Konoha was convened, leading to Team 7 being given custody. Mitsuki began to reflect on his very first dream the night before, being a memory of when he first decided to find his own way. From there, Mitsuki began to wonder how one can determine if their will is truly their own or just a manipulation of others. Changing the subject, Boruto told his teammates about a riddle that Naruto had recently asked him, asking what the hardest stone is. While trying to find the answer, they noticed that there was a search party for Ōnoki wondering. Thinking they could answer the riddle, the genin decided to go in search of the ancient legendary. They soon found him but as they tried to bring him back to the meeting, Ōnoki refused. When Boruto asked Ōnoki the riddle, Ōnoki offered to answer the question if they took him around the village, which they agreed to. Then, Ōnoki gave them their answer, that this is the core of his being, that they must keep their hearts strong to endure all obstacles. In addition to that, Ōnoki noted that Mitsuki's will was very unstable.
Once their mission was over, Mitsuki returned home, where he found a letter from a group of Iwa shinobi , urging him to burn it. Leaving the village borders at dawn the next day, he met with Sekiei , Kokuyō and Kirara , to see if he could learn the secret of his will from Kū , the leader of the group. Their meeting is noticed by Saō and Uō , whom the group attacks. Before the outsiders could kill the Konoha shinobi, Mitsuki attacked Uō and had his snake bite the shinobi to temporarily stop his heartbeat, fooling Kokuyō into thinking the guard was dead. Departing with the group to the Land of Earth, they encountered pursuers from Konoha, whom Kokuyō and his Akuta confronted while Mitsuki and Sekiei ventured out. Learning that two shinobi had overtaken Kokuyō, Sekiei had two Akuta guarding him while he left to engage them. After him, Mitsuki saved Sekiei from Boruto, before assaulting his teammate and leaving.
Later, as Sekiei's body began to decay again, Kokuyō left Mitsuki to watch over Sekiei while he sought help. While alone with him, Sekiei suddenly ensnared Mitsuki with one of his clay bugs and revealed that he was aware that Mitsuki had saved Uō. Accepting that Mitsuki had no ulterior motive besides learning who he really is, the two were joined by Kokuyō's comrades, prompting Sekiei to vouch for Mitsuki's reliability.
Once they arrived at Kū's headquarters, Mitsuki was shown around, including his and Sekiei's personal room, which showed many drawings of people he cared about. Mitsuki was taken to a scientist for analysis on Mitsuki's unique body. During the examination, they found a cursed seal embedded on her heart. Later, once finally met with Kū, he asked about the essence of free will. Kū noted, however, that he couldn't really answer that himself as an artificial human like Mitsuki and that Orochimaru, as Mitsuki's creator, was the best chance he had of getting a direct answer. He noted, however, that Mitsuki betraying Konohagakure, an act of rebellion, is common among humans as a sign of maturation. He went on to insist that the unique nature of Mitsuki's being would contribute to the completion of the third Tsuchikage '
Later, Mitsuki discovered that a masked Konohamaru had found the base and infiltrated it. Konohamaru unmasked himself and gave Mitsuki a chance to explain himself. Mitsuki apologized for the trouble he had caused everyone and promised to answer for his actions, but insisted that he had to get it over with what he thought was the right thing to do. Konohamaru decided to trust him, reminding him that he would always be a member of Team 7. Not long after, Mitsuki brought Kū a heart transplant. Sarada and Boruto caught up with them and Mitsuki launched an attack to keep them at bay. As Kū celebrated receiving his heart, Mitsuki attacked him from behind, revealing that the heart was snakes in disguise. Mitsuki explained his deception of the making to those present and was comforted by Boruto's promise to listen to what he had to say when they returned home.
As Kū retreated to tend to his wounds and decaying body, Boruto and Sarada followed him while Sekiei stayed to face Mitsuki. He expressed his contempt towards Mitsuki for the betrayal, feeling so stupid for believing Mitsuki's lies and false friendship, attacking relentlessly even as his body began to give way. Mitsuki insisted, however, that he had come to see him as a friend, wanting to keep him from destroying himself, both through overwork and a dark path. As Mitsuki continued to fight defensively, Sekiei finally broke down. Mitsuki decided to console him, offering to take Sekiei to Orochimaru for modifications to save his life. Seeing that Mitsuki's intentions were true, Sekiei conceded defeat and expressed his simple wishes to connect with others, regretting that he could not. I don't have the life that Mitsuki had despite also being an artificial human. Sekiei died while trying to punch Mitsuki in the face. Mitsuki regrouped with his team in the old city, where they were confronted by Kū, who had recently transplanted a human heart into himself to stabilize his body.
As Kū began to pressure the genin with his renewed power, Mitsuki unleashed his Sage mode pushing the fabrication away. Kū asked Mitsuki why he would betray the fabrications when they could see him as other artificial beings. Boruto and Sarada insisted that it was because they were his friends. Mitsuki, however, reluctantly admitted that he was considering joining the enemies for real. They were then approached by Ōnoki, who tried to reason again about how far Kū had strayed from his original path. Ignoring his words, Kū attacked the group with his Dust Release. Sarada saved everyone by breaking through the floor. As Kū caught up to finish the battle, the combined effort of Team 7 managed to severely damage Kū. Kū attempted a final Dust Release on the group, only for Ōnoki to counter it with a much stronger one, determined not to face his late grandson again without atonement. Ōnoki finally destroyed Kū. Afterwards, the genin approached the exhausted Tsuchikage, who spoke to them about the importance of keeping his will strong before collapsing. Team 7 was then found by their allies in Konohagakure and they welcomed Mitsuki back.
After returning home, Mitsuki was detained by Konohamaru and Sai to be debriefed on his recent actions. In the end, it was decided to forgive Mitsuki on the grounds that his actions were not treacherous and had in fact helped Iwa. However, he was still punished by having his shinobi status revoked. Later, while Mitsuki was making a crude shrine to his friends from the Fabrication, he was approached by Boruto and Sarada, who also had their respective shinobi status revoked. Mitsuki apologized for his recent actions and admitted the shameless curiosity of wanting to connect with people more like him. Boruto however quickly accepted his apology and admitted that he was glad to have had the chance to understand Mitsuki better as a person, hoping to learn more about each other, much to Mitsuki's delight. Later, because of Kurotsuchi'
Kara's activation bow
In the anime, Mitsuki's team was assigned to work with Mugino to find Anato , a wanted missing person in the Land of Valleys . After meeting the man's wife and learning about the village's large medical society, Mitsuki was able to sneak onto the last known location of Anato's team. There, they were intercepted by Victor, the president of the company, and his guards. As he was also looking for Anato's team and discovered that many of them were dead, it was decided to join their efforts. They soon found a cave. Inside, Anato found, whose body was modified into a malleable state and attacked them without thinking.
Mitsuki tried to restrain Anato with her snakes poisoning him, but the effort failed. Soon after, Victor and his crew appeared and overpowered him with a relentless barrage of Lightning Release. Victor promised that they would take Anato back to the village for treatment. Once their mission was technically complete, the Konoha ninjas decided to return to the Konohagakure. Along the way, Mitsuki became ill and his body took on the same properties as Anato's. Mugino brought them to Yubina, a former medical ninja. After Mitsuki's treatment, Yubina determined that during the fight with Anato, Mitsuki had been infected with part of the First Hokage's cell structure. Yubina also revealed that a young girl was also infected and rumors that the black market was harvesting the cells of the late Hokage to sell them. They decided that the team would go to the source in the Land of Silence . However, Mitsuki would stay behind to recover and help Yubina design a cure for the epidemic because her immune system showed such properties. Mitsuki's antibodies proved to be able to save the infected girl, and a sample that Yubina provided to Konohamaru, who intended to have it analyzed in Konohagure, ended up being used during their investigation.
After Mitsuki and the girl, Kona , fully recovered, the girl decided to help Mitsuki sneak into the main town through an underground network that the town's children used for their own society. At the base, Mitsuki met her team, which was helped by Kona's brother, Katara , after being accused of the murder of Lady Sakuya so that the real killers could safely escape with the Hashirama cell. The children's network was able to quickly find the real killers. Once outside the country's borders, the genin of Mugino and Konohamaru to find their targets, only to be attacked by a new enemy.
The attackers turned out to be Kumo-nin, consisting of Omoi, Kakui and Marui. Having heard rumors that Konoha-nin had killed Lady Sakuya and stolen the Hashirama cell, they questioned the genin. Mugino and Konohamaru quickly came back and helped to clarify things. After explaining the situation, the group worked together to track down the real culprits, who were deduced to be shinobi from the Land of Mist. Along the way, they were intercepted by Deepa , who was also looking for the Hashirama cell. Omoi's team decided to deal with the new threat while the Konoha ninjas advanced. Soon after, Mugino and his team were intercepted by one of the thieves, Yūga, who was determined to complete his mission of delivering the Hashirama cell to his country at any cost.
He unleashed a self-denial technique to trap the Konoha ninja in a barrier and summon a destructive demon. The genin tried to hold back the demon while Mugino and Konohamaru tried to destroy the barrier, but were quickly stopped by it. Changing tactics, Mugino held back the demon, letting it absorb his chakra long enough for his team to destroy it. Later, after Mugino had recovered enough, the team resumed tracking the Haze-nin.
After catching up with the remaining enemies, the Konoha ninjas were tricked and caught by Hiruga' s self-denial technique which produced a holding mud. As it became clear that the technique would drag them close to the ground, Omoi arrived. Defeated, he revealed that Deepa had killed his allies and was on his way to the Land of Mist to retrieve the Hashirama Cell. Worried about his remaining brother, Hiruga cancelled his technique and rushed off. Although Omoi could not reach his allies, he warned them that Deepa was apparently immune to all forms of attack.
After catching up with Hiruga's older brother, Asaka , it took some time to convince that Hiruga was really him and that there was a new threat. Before a truce could be agreed upon, Deepa arrived and quickly slaughtered the remaining quadruplets. Boruto was furious and attacked the man, only for his kunai to bounce harmlessly off Deepa's body. The man explained that he is able to manipulate all the carbon around him, including in his own body to become invulnerable. Victor arrived and revealed himself to be allied with Deepa. Victor separated the jōnin from the genin of the team, where Mitsuki and her teammates faced Deepa. Between Deepa's relentless barrage of carbon projectiles and her impervious body, the genin were quickly overwhelmed. As Boruto and Sarada were knocked out, Mitsuki revealed her Sage Transformation mode to save her friends and escape, determined to save them even at the expense of her body collapsing under the pressure of an increased state.
After bringing Boruto and Sarada severely injured to Yubina for treatment, Konohamaru and Mugino took Mitsuki to Orochimaru as he was the only one who could heal Mitsuki's body. Mitsuki's body was strained to the point of deterioration, requiring the recovery of several new organs. After Mitsuki regained consciousness, Orochimaru asked the boy if it was really worth risking his own death to save his allies, wanting to see Mitsuki's resolution.
As Mitsuki's replacement organs were almost viable, Suigetsu returned with news of Mitsuki's team. He revealed that they had all returned to the land of valleys. This concerned Mitsuki, who was determined to help his team despite his still unstable state, forcing Log to calm him down.
In the end, instead of waiting for replacement organs, Log donated his own to get Mitsuki back in action. He joined his father in time to save Mugino from an outside Kara. As the divine tree Victor recreated continued to get out of control, Mitsuki joined her friends to fight Deepa again. Despite the improved skills of her teammates, Deepa's carbon powers still proved seemingly invincible. In the end, the three genin combined their chakra into a Super Compression Rasengan, overpowering Deepa and finally defeating him. After Orochimaru destroyed the fake divine tree, Team 7 cheered their victory.
Back in the village, Mitsuki and her friends found Denki setting up an experiment to improve radio communications. Mitsuki and the others decided to help her with the work. It eventually worked, but failed to maintain stability. Denki, however, remained determined to improve the technology. Mitsuki joined everyone in applauding.
Arc Kawaki
On the group's way back to Konoha, Mitsuki noticed something, prompting him to investigate. Despite being a good distance from the crashed airship, the team discovered destroyed puppets, as well as an unconscious boy nearby. Upon awakening, Kawaki unleashed a shockwave around him, which the Konoha shinobi dodged. After refusing to provide them with information about the crashed airship and wanting to be left alone, their conversation was interrupted by Garō , who engaged in battle with Kawaki.
When Kawaki killed Garō with a massive explosion, Boruto protected his team by absorbing part of the blast with his Kāma, which only cemented Kawaki's opinion that the party was affiliated with Kara. After Kawaki passed out from overheating, Katasuke examined him and determined that his body was a very advanced scientific ninja tool. Mitsuki wondered if Kawaki had been a product of cloning technology like himself, admitting that he was an artificial clone of Orochimaru. Katasuke corrected him, explaining that Kawaki's body had been modified by inorganic means. The group decided to take Kawaki to Konoha to meet the Hokage.
In the anime, while Konohamaru was on his way to the Hokage, Sarada and his team first took Kawaki back to the research institute to deal with him, where the strange boy was being held. Eventually, he was able to escape, causing the institute to go into a state of emergency. Team 7 came to the conclusion that the boy would try to escape by train and went to the nearest village. As their efforts failed, they heard a disturbance and investigated. They found Kawaki attacking Sumire. The police had also found the boy and engaged him, forcing him to retreat. Boruto dealt with Sumire while Mitsuki and Sarada went after Kawaki. Just as the boy's rampage was starting to cause a lot of collateral damage, Naruto arrived. Hearing from Sumire that the boy was just emotionally frightened by his difficult past, the Hokage took pity and passively restrained Kawaki.
In the end, it was decided that Kawaki would be watched over by Naruto as a guest in his house. In the anime, Sarada brought Mitsuki to spy on Kawaki's actions. There, they watched Naruto start to help Boruto in taijutsu practice. Halfway through, Kawaki insisted that Boruto use his practice time to become familiar with his Kāma, activating his own mark, which resonated with Boruto's to activate as well. While Sarada marveled at such an increase in power that Boruto had achieved by using the mark, Mitsuki was concerned, noting for himself that all power comes at a price.
Over time, Mitsuki noticed that his friends had begun to open up to Kawaki, and Kawaki to them. He attributed Boruto's acceptance of Kawaki to the fact that he had saved Himawari from Delta's attack. Kawaki was even allowed to be the Hokage's first student in ninjutsu. Mitsuki noted that if he became proficient in ninjutsu, in addition to having access to his Shinobi-Ware and Kāma, Kawaki would become a truly powerful individual. Later, in discussing the nature of Kāma, it was noted that it had the same form as the Hundred Seal Force. Although initially ignored as irrelevant, Mitsuki noted that there was a lot of history in it and a lot that remained mysterious, prompting everyone to look into it. Finally opening up, Kawaki revealed that the person who had altered his body and placed the Kāma on him was Jigen , a man they would inevitably have to fight one day. Later, Mitsuki bluntly asked what Boruto would do if he never had his Kāma removed. Boruto said that he would treat it as a mission like any other in order to succeed, which Mitsuki admired as an answer.
Later, Mitsuki noticed that Boruto's Kāma was starting to activate again and spread through his body. As Boruto feared that something was wrong with Kawaki, Mitsuki hurriedly joined Boruto. When Mitsuki and Boruto arrived, asking what had happened, Kawaki explained that Jigen had appeared and taken Naruto. He was then suddenly overpowered by Shikamaru's shadow imitation technique . Noting openly his distrust of Kawaki, Shikamaru asked a team of ninja to use a formation of four purple flames.to lock down the area while he questioned Kawaki about the recent events. Like Shikamaru, Mitsuki wondered why if Naruto had been defeated, why Jigen hadn't returned yet. Shikamaru speculated that they were still fighting or that Jigen was too weak to come back. Suddenly, Kawaki's prosthesis started to react. Realizing that Naruto was still alive, just detained, Kawaki reattached his arm decided to test a theory. By synchronizing his Kāma mark with Boruto's, they were able to produce the same break that Jigen had made earlier. While Shikamaru refused to let Kawaki or anyone else enter the rift, Kawaki used his Kāma to escape Shikamaru's technique while he and the genin entered the rift to find Naruto. On the other side, they came to a large rocky area, where they met Boro .
As the children prepared to fight the inner limb, Boro quickly showed his power, forcing them on the defensive while Boruto and Kawaki used their Kāma to absorb the enemy's techniques. When the enemy paralyzed Kawaki and Boruto in a dark mist, he expressed his joy at meeting Boruto, noting that Boruto's Kāma meant that Kara's time frame to complete their plans could now be extended to Boruto as Momoshiki's vessel. Mitsuki tried to blow it up to no avail. He baited Boro with a Lightning Release and used his snakes to try to hold him back. Boro simply overpowered him, even healing from a venomous snake bite with no problem. Sarada's interference allowed the children to retreat. Mitsuki revealed that she had collected some of the mist with her snake and had Sarada analyze it with his Sharingan, confirming that it was composed of viral particles. He suggested that she act as the team leader, and using the blood he collected from Boro when his snake bit him, he administered antibodies against the virus to the group. After Sarada created an opening, Boruto and Kawaki destroyed much of Boro's upper body, including his head, but he regenerated them. Mitsuki explained what he had done, and while Boro was impressed, he moved to attack the kettle sealing Naruto, forcing Kawaki to break the group formation.
Taking advantage of this opening, Boro threw shuriken at Kawaki. Kawaki easily blocked them, but they were covered with gunpowder and exploded on him. Mitsuki and Boruto fought Boro to help Kawaki, only for the enemy to regenerate several times. As Kawaki joined the assault, resisting Boro's counter-assault against the tired children, Sarada finally made her move. Having learned from Kawaki that Boro's unlimited regeneration requires a special core in his body, she struck with her Chidori .
After successfully removing the core, Boro's body began to mutate without his stabilizer. Kawaki and Boruto were able to use their Kāma to create a crack in the seal and release Naruto unconscious. While the children watched over the Hokage, Boro calmed down enough to turn his rage on the children, taking out Mitsuki. Mitsuki recovered in time to watch Boruto defeat Boro with his Kāma's power increase, and caught him as he fell from the sky, observing that he had no memory of his actions while empowered by the Kāma.
After the team returned to Konoha via Boruto and Kawaki's Kāma, they were taken to the hospital to recover. In the anime, after Naruto and Sasuke recovered from their own injuries, there was a group meeting about the recent events. Sasuke revealed that Kara had her own tail demons sealed in this separate dimension. Kawaki also informed them that each member of Kara had been modified with Shinobi-Ware, granting them abilities in addition to ninjutsu. Separately, Sasuke asked Sarada and Mitsuki more about the battle against Boro. She noted that Boruto not only sprouted a horn and manifested a Byakugan in his right eye with his massive increase in power, but was even acting differently. This was about Sasuke. Then, Mitsuki decided to talk with Sasuke in private. He noted that Kara was particularly interested in Boruto, calling him "Momoshiki's ship." Sasuke concluded that Momoshiki was using Boruto as a way to preserve himself and potentially resurrect himself in Boruto's body. He also concluded that Kawaki was facing the same test as Isshiki Ōtsutsuki . In the anime, Mitsuki helped in the evacuation effort following Isshiki's arrival in Konoha.
Code Arc
After Isshiki's defeat, Boruto was put out of commission indefinitely to be watched for his Kāma. Mitsuki and her friends decided to talk about it, as they were all concerned about Boruto's future.
Later, Kawaki joined Team 7 to train. Soon, Kawaki found the basic shinobi exercises useless. As Mitsuki asked what Kawaki suggested instead, he quickly attacked Mitsuki. The attack was quickly blocked, impressing Kawaki. While Boruto and Sarada were angry at Kawaki's sudden attack methods, Kawaki said that the brutal training he had undergone from Jigen had finally pushed him to leap forward in a short time. Kawaki continued his assault until he finally came to rest with Boruto. Boruto and Kawaki bet with each other on who would dictate their training style, with Boruto eventually winning in a sparring match. While Kawaki honored the bet but expressed his disgust with Boruto's methods, Mitsuki was amazed at how Kawaki still had such a bad attitude.
