Nezuko Kamado is the younger sister of Tanjiro Kamado and one of the last remaining members of the Kamado family. Formerly human, she was attacked and transformed into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji. She is one of the main characters of Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Apparence
Nezuko is a small, light-skinned girl with large, prominent fangs and sharp red nails at the tips. Her hair is long, black and reaches her waist, becoming vermilion from her elbows, with a parting on the left. She has pale pink eyes, lighter at the edges of her irises, with long lashes, whose pupils split when she transforms. According to Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko was considered a beauty in their childhood town.She wears a light pink kimono with a hemp leaf pattern, a lighter lining, with a red and white checked obi and an orange thread tied around her waist, with another green thread above it. Over it, she wears a long dark brown haori that reaches her knees, as well as pink zori sandals and white socks, wrapped by thick black bands. Nezuko also wears a small pink ribbon on the left side of her head, so that she can keep her hair out of her face, as well as the bamboo gag that Giyu Tomioka gave her, which is held in place by a red thread around her jaw.
When Nezuko takes her demon form during her duel with Daki, she loses her gag and her shoes, as well as the sleeves of her haori and kimono. She grows a small white horn on the right side of her head, and veins appear around her left eye, but her new striking feature is the green and red leaves that cover her skin, circulating around her arms, legs and chest.
As a human, her appearance was very similar, the only differences being her lack of demon features, her vermillion hair, and her pale pink eyes. Instead, she had all-black hair, tied in three low buns, decorated with pink ribbons, and dark red eyes with pink iris edges.
She wore the same kimono, however without her haori but with a large white sheet tied around her, where she used to carry her little brother, Rokuta Kamado, on her back.

History
Nezuko started out as an ordinary girl born into a poor but happy family. She shared a strong bond with her mother and five siblings. Unfortunately, one day, a demon named Muzan Kibutsuji committed a massacre in the family home.
The only survivors were Nezuko and her older brother, Tanjiro, who went to the city. Nezuko did not escape unscathed and became a demon. She managed to contain herself and not attack her brother after he protected her from a Demon Slayer.

After a demon almost kills her whole family, Nezuko is turned into a demon by the demon, Muzan Kibutsuji. At first, she is wild and even attacks her only remaining brother, Tanjiro. However, she comes to her senses and quickly jumps in front of him to protect him from Giyu Tomioka when the Pillar tries to hurt him.
After this short fight, she falls asleep and Giyu orders Tanjiro to find a man called Sakonji Urokodaki. Her brother takes her first to bury their dead family, then she hides in a cave, seeing that the sun is rising, and waits for her brother to find something to carry her so they can travel during the day.
So, they head to Sakonji's house, but meet a demon, having just killed and eaten a family, on their way. Tanjiro attacks the demon, hitting it in the jaw with his axe, but its wounds heal quickly and it boasts of its generative abilities. Enraged, the demon runs at Tanjiro, but Nezuko cuts off its head in one blow, propelling its body to the side as it continues to attack. Tanjiro and Nezuko manage to push the demon back, snagging its head against a tree and throwing its body off the mountain. Sakonji suddenly appears and informs them that they cannot kill a demon with these methods.
Tanjiro hesitates to deliver the killing blow, and the sun finally begins to rise, disintegrating the demon as Nezuko runs into the house to protect herself.
After a short reprimand and test of their strength, Nezuko and Tanjiro are taken by Sakonji, who thus drags Tanjiro to the Breath of Water.
Nezuko then sleeps for two years that Tanjiro spends training, without even waking up when he leaves for the Final Selection. Sakonji takes care of her during this time, until Tanjiro comes back victorious from the selection, because his sister finally wakes up. She welcomes Tanjiro, embracing him and allowing him to free himself from his fears about her.

Personality
Nezuko's original personality as a human was a caring girl, who thought of others before herself like her older brother, Tanjiro, and was a responsible sister to her younger siblings.
As a demon, however, Nezuko seems to have forgotten much of her memories as a human, other than those related to her family, and thus does not have the same personality she had before her transformation. She is still very caring and protective of the humans she sees as family members, despite the fact that this is due to Sakonji Urodaki's influence during her two year sleep. Nezuko still possesses some of her human emotions, as when she is seen crying when she is sad and smiling when she is happy, but she generally seems more detached than her human teammates, though calmer and less malicious than most demons.
Since her transformation into a demon, Nezuko appears more brazen, and is not afraid to fight; she fiercely protects her brother as well as her allies. She has also developed a strong will, as can be seen by her refusal to eat human flesh, even in cases of extreme injury or exposure to human blood, such as when she refuses Sanemi Shinazugawa when he almost forces her to bite him with his Marechi blood.
On rare occasions Nezuko tries to speak, however, she stutters a lot, which is probably due to her rarely removed bamboo gag, and the fact that she didn't speak for several years after her transformation. However, after developing sunlight resistance, which allows her to go out and interact with others more often, her articulation improves and she is able to speak whole words if someone has just said them, or if she hears them repeated often.
Powers and abilities
Demon powers
- Size manipulation : After being transformed into a demon, Nezuko was able to quickly change the size of her body. She is able to grow to the size of a small child in order to fit into a small box or basket to hide from the sun when traveling with Tanjiro and can also grow to fight demons.
- Power Restoration: An important trait of Nezuko as a demon is the ability to constantly restore her powers, without having to eat humans which is the norm for most demons. Instead, she regains her strength through sleep, often spending a lot of time in her box.
- Power Growth: Nezuko is able to grow stronger and stronger without training or devouring humans. This ability is seen even in the middle of a battle and with large increases. A good example is during her duel with Susamaru where her foot was torn apart by the demon's attack, but after regeneration she was able to take on him in a kicking match and eventually surpass him. Nezuko becomes considerably more powerful throughout the story.
- Enhanced Strength: Without even being trained, Nezuko's natural physical strength allows her to fight demons easily, however, due to the fact that she is untrained, she relies on simple blows to her enemies or overwhelms them with brute force instead. Her strikes allow her to cut off demons' heads with ease, or knock down a door. His strength is extremely important for a demon who has never eaten humans, his strength being able to wait for even the Twelve Moons.
- Advanced Regeneration: Nezuko has incredible regeneration that allows her to restore her limbs in seconds. The true nature of this ability is the solidification of her blood from her severed body parts which she can manipulate as she wishes. Her regeneration power is shown during her duel with Daki, where she regenerates her severed limbs in an instant.
- Demon Transformation: When Nezuko is in a critical situation, she can transform into an "out of control" state, which appears as red and green leaves running down her body, her veins popping out and a horn popping out of the right side of her forehead. This form increases Nezuko's ability to fight, at the cost that she has to become more demonic, including the need to feed on human blood. For now, the only way to make her return to her normal form is to have someone (in her case, Tanjiro) sing to her. During the duel against Hantengu, Nezuko manages to control this form as she pleases.
- Sun Resistance: During the battle against the Fourth Moon, Hantengu, Nezuko develops immunity to the sun, now being able to go out completely during the day without being burned to a crisp like other demons.

Demon Blood Power (血鬼術, Kekkijutsu)
- Bakketsu (爆血, bakketsu): Nezuko can set her blood on fire, turning them into engulfing flames. She is able to control her flames to a lethal or non-lethal state depending on her will. She is seen using her blood to heal the wounds of others if needed. However, these flames only affect demons and demon powers, such as Rui's sons or Gyutaro's poison. Nezuko's flames are also able to change the black color of Tanjiro's katana to a blood red, similar to how Yoriichi Tsugikuni changed his blade from black to red before fighting, increasing the strength of his blade against demons even more and allowing Tanjiro to perform the Fire God Dance more effectively.
Relations
Tanjiro Kamado
Tanjiro is Nezuko's older brother and the last living member of her family. So, while Nezuko is normally calm and adorable, she becomes enraged and attacks any demon that hurts Tanjiro. Being the only survivors of their poor family, they are both very close, trusting each other, and carrying a strong brotherly love. He is probably the only one able to calm Nezuko down quickly by calling her or singing her their mother's lullaby.
Zenitsu Agatsuma
Zenitsu falls in love with Nezuko at first sight. According to the databook, she sees him as a "weird dandelion." Even though we rarely see them interact, Zenitsu treats Nezuko affectionately.
Despite his cowardice, Zenitsu had the courage to return to Natagumo Mountain upon realizing that Tanjiro had taken Nezuko with him into the territory of the Spider Family, intending to protect her. During their recovery training, Zenitsu would tell her stories about Tanjiro and their missions while she was in his box, to which she would respond by simply moving the box, implying that she was happy to listen to him.
When Nezuko regains her humanity, she starts to remember her life as a demon and in particular, a memory in which Zenitsu offers her flowers, proving that she sees him in a good light.
Yushiro
At first, Nezuko felt threatened by Yushiro's presence, feeling that he was a demon. However, after seeing that he had no bad intentions towards her or Tanjiro, she no longer saw him as a threat and stopped being vigilant around him.
Later, after their fight against the balloon demon and the arrow demon, she sees Yushiro as one of her little brothers, and strokes his head, despite her dismay.
