Ochaco Uraraka

Ochaco Uraraka is one of the protagonists of the manga My Hero Academia. She is a student of Yuei and a pupil of the second grade A. She plans to become a Professional Hero in order to earn money and provide a more comfortable life for her parents.

Apparence

Ochaco has shoulder length brown hair and big hazel eyes. She has two long locks on each side of her round face and a square cut at the back. She has little pads on each finger that are used to activate her Alter.

Hero Costume
Ochaco wears a black and pale pink skin-tight jumpsuit with long sleeves. Her costume is equipped with a helmet designed to protect the semicircular canals of the inner ear, and two bracelets that contain a device that exerts pressure, like a blood pressure monitor. It also has a collar that stimulates acupressure points at the base of the skull to alleviate migraines and thick boots: their design has been thought to cushion landings at the toe, the sole is equipped with a shock absorbing cushion. In the same way, the heels contain a reinforced spring.
Ochaco's costume gets an update during the resumption of the heroic stages. The belt around his waist has been modified. Her arm gauntlets have gained rings protruding from the side and are now capable of pulling grapples. She no longer has a glass visor in front of her face, and the design of her helmet has been redesigned.

Personality

Ochaco is kind and friendly to the people she meets, and will come to the aid of those who have helped her before. Because of her friendly and playful spirit, Ochaco is easily excited or surprised by small things and loses her temper easily. Her reactions are often exaggerated and humorous.

Sometimes Uraraka takes on an extremely determined and rather intimidating demeanor, which may surprise her classmates. This aspect tends to come out in combat situations, where she is strategic. She does not like to be underestimated. Ochaco's parents are her main source of determination to become a Professional Heroine, as she wants to give them a better life. Ochaco is also very honest about her goals, not hiding the fact that she wants to become a Professional Heroine to earn money, even though she has a hard time admitting it.

Ochaco has shown a preference for rescue missions as a future Professional Heroine. She is a big fan of the hero Number 13. She is also aware of her own physical limitations, choosing Gun Head ("the Hero of the Fight") for her Field Training, to learn martial arts.

History

Living in the country, she wants to become a heroine and be able to offer her parents a wealthy life thanks to her salary, although they prefer her to live her own life rather than take care of them.

Skills and Competencies

Gravity Zero allows her to remove the weight of anything she touches with the pads on each of her fingers, whether it is an object or even a person. Thanks to this power, she prevented Izuku Midoriya from tripping at the entrance of the academy. When she uses her power too much, she gets nauseous and often ends up vomiting. In the course of the chapters, she learns to make herself float for a short time.

Relations

Izuku Midoriya
She seems to be the closest to Izuku, respects him a lot and trusts his judgment and decisions. Conversely, Izuku also trusts Ochaco a lot and enjoys her company. He also has feelings for her. Their friendship started after Izuku saved Ochaco during the Entrance Exam.

During the End of Term Examination, Yuga Aoyama asked Ochaco if she was in love with Izuku, to which she reacts by blushing. Because of her uncertainties about her feelings, she runs away from Izuku in an exaggerated way when they are alone together. After the Provisional License Examination, Ochaco decided to focus on her future as a Hero rather than her feelings towards Izuku.

Tenya Iida
Being both close to Izuku, they became friends. They get along very well and often end up together in complicated situations.

Mei Hatsume
Ochaco has a somewhat strained relationship with Mei, because of her frankness. She seemed slightly jealous when Izuku complimented Mei's gadgets, or even a little annoyed when Mei tattled on Izuku's body to "check the goods". When she learns that Mei has made new gloves for Izuku, she seems sad and disturbed.

Himiko Toga
Himiko is a member of the Super Villains Alliance, so they are both enemies. During their meeting, Himiko tried to attack Ochaco and Tsuyu. Himiko happily called them her "friends". Toga managed to hit a nerve when she realized that Ochaco had feelings for someone.

Katsuki Bakugo
At first, Katsuki, who considered himself the only 'main character' of class A, didn't recognize Ochaco when he had to face him in the championship. He didn't pay much attention to the names of his classmates. Disinterested at the beginning of the match, he thought he would beat Uraraka in one fell swoop before discovering her plan (to get her attention and make her produce projectiles that she could then use). After realizing that she was not an idiot and that he could prove his worth by fighting her, Bakugo will give his all and win the fight. Although he was criticized by the crowd for his lack of restraint, Aizawa justified that Bakugo gave his all because he respected his opponent. Going back to the stands, some students will point out his lack of restraint against "a fragile girl" and Katsuki will growl, mocking, "Fragile? You bet.". This is a proof that he recognizes Ochaco's fighting strength. He nicknamed her 'Egghead' because of her pudgy face.
