Sabo is part of the powerful military organization opposed to the World Government and called The Revolutionaries or the Revolutionary 🪖 Army. He is the second most influential member of this movement after Monkey D. Dragon aka Dragon the Revolutionary (Luffy's father) who just happens to be its leader.
Born in a noble family of the Kingdom of Goa located on the island of Dawn, Sabo is the son of Outlook III and Didit. He has an adopted brother answering to the name of Sterry and who is the current king 🤴🏼 of the Kingdom of Goa. In addition, he became the spiritual brother of Monkey D. Luffy and Portgas D. Ace after the three of them toasted together and exchanged their sake cups which represent the cup of brotherhood.
After he was thought to be dead when a Dragon 🐲 Celestial blew up his ship, Sabo resurfaced in the Dressrosa Arc. He had come, among other things, to win the Mera Mera no Mi, the Demon Fruit of his late adopted brother Ace, in the tournament held in the Corrida Coliseum. In the third volume of One Piece Magazine, we discover that Sabo's capture bounty was 602,000,000 Berrys.

Sabo's appearance
Child
Sabo is a young boy of ten years old at the time of Luffy's flashback, the same age as Ace. He was missing a tooth, had a plaster on his nose and had short, curly blond hair. He wore a big black hat with a pair of blue glasses wrapped around it, a blue jacket with rolled up sleeves, a white scarf and cyan blue shorts held by a belt with a flower pattern on the metal part. He is armed with a simple pipe. Sabo is at first sight what one could call a street kid.
Adult
As an adult, Sabo bears many similarities to his childhood appearance. He is of medium height, has medium-length blond hair, and a scar around his left eye. He has the same glasses he had when he was younger, still has a scarf around his neck but down to his chest, a black coat over a dark jacket with small buttons, and has blue pants and boots. This time again, he has a simple pipe as a weapon, but it is bigger than the one he had as a child.
It is in a flashback of Luffy that we meet Sabo when he was still a 10 year old kid (same age as Ace by the way). At that time, you could see him with one tooth 🦷 down and a band-aid taped to his nose. His hair was blond, cut short and curly. He had on his head a large black top hat style and on top of it he had placed a pair of blue colored glasses. He was still dressed in a blue jacket whose sleeves he rolled up as well as cyan blue shorts 🩳 held at his waist by a black belt. The latter has a metal buckle with a flower as a pattern. Added to that, he always wore a white scarf at the neck like a tie. 👔 In those days, in the dilapidated and bad streets of Grey Terminal, he was walking around with a simple pipe as a weapon. At first glance, he looked like what you might call a street kid.
Once he became an adult, Sabo didn't change much compared to his appearance when he was still a child. Note that he was born on March 20 and was 22 years old just after the ellipse that lasted two years. He is of average height and still has the same big hat 🎩 and the same glasses. He still wears a white scarf around his neck and reaching to his chest. His blond hair is now medium-length and his left eye is surrounded by a scar that looks like a burn. He is now wearing a black coat over a dark jacket with small buttons. He has shed the shorts in favor of blue pants 👖 and boots. He is still armed with a classic pipe but it is now bigger than the one he had before.
Sabo's personality
Sabo is presented as a rather sensible character and, like Luffy, he is considerate towards the people he loves. Moreover, we can see that he is fair when he fights and does not apply preferential treatment following his opponent as when he fought against Admiral Futijora. Despite the latter being blind, 👨🏼🦯 Sabo treated him as an equal and fights him to the end. On the other hand, despite never becoming a pirate like his spiritual brothers, Sabo was very determined to make his dream a reality when he was still a kid. As a pirate, he planned to travel and visit the whole world to tell in a book 📖 the stories as well as the places he would see on his travels. And yet, in order to protect his spiritual brothers, he was willing to let go of this dream. Sabo indeed shows great loyalty to Luffy and Ace to the point of even accepting his father's conditions and living unhappily and all alone in order to save them. Luffy even said that Sabo is nicer than Ace. He supported them, encouraged them and knew how to use diplomacy.
Moreover, even though Sabo is of noble lineage, he does not consider himself superior to others and never behaves selfishly. Unlike other members of his family, 👨👩👧👦 being a noble does not consist of a special status for him. He did not see people who are not noble as beings who would be inferior to him. On the contrary, he abhorred their values. There were times when he regretted being born a nobleman and was even ashamed of it. His disgust with this status is such that he even intended to leave the Kingdom of Goa at the age of 17, since a person only really inherits the status of a noble when he reaches the age of majority, 18. Eventually, he left when he was only 10 years old. 👦🏼 When we saw him after the ellipse, aged 22, we could see that Sabo retained a lot of his old personality.
Personality
Sabo is a person of good sense and carries the privilege on those he loves (like Luffy). He is loyal during fights, for example, against Fujitora where he makes no exception and fights until the end. When he appears, he has a semblance of maturity and tends to see things positively. Like his brothers, he had the same dream of becoming a pirate (which didn't happen) but as a child, he had the determination to make his dream come true. According to Luffy, Sabo is a nicer brother than Ace. He encouraged Ace and Luffy; he is kind and diplomatic. Sabo's dream involves traveling around the world as a pirate and writing a book containing the history of everything he sees and every place he visits on his journey. However, he was willing to put his dream aside to protect his brothers. Indeed, Sabo was loyal to his two brothers and friends, so much so that he would give in to his father's demands, becoming lonely and unhappy, in order to save Luffy and Ace.
Despite being the son of a nobleman, Sabo does not act like a stereotypical nobleman would act, nor does he consider himself as such. In stark contrast to the rest of his family, he does not see his status as more important than anything else, nor does he consider those who are not nobles as inferior. On the contrary, Sabo completely rejects these values, and has even gone so far as to say that he is ashamed of being a noble and wishes he had not been born as one. Since a child becomes a true noble at the age of eighteen, Sabo had planned to leave the kingdom of Goa at the age of seventeen (he finally left at ten). At the age of 22, Sabo has retained much of his old personality and seems to have some mannerisms similar to Luffy's, such as his brother's tendency to mispronounce other people's names. His tendency to hang up his snail phone in the middle of a call rather irritates his comrades. He has also shown an immensely strong protective net towards Luffy, to the point where he neglects everything he currently does if he feels Luffy is in danger, including his duties in the revolutionary army; this is largely due to Sabo's inability to protect Ace from his death, a fact he still regrets to this very day. This is ironic considering that Ace himself had gained a very similar protective net towards Luffy after Sabo's presumed death.
Relations
Family
Outlook III, Sabo's father, is a most mundane nobleman, treating Ace and Luffy like common trash. He wants his son to become his heir, believing that the child must comply with his parents' wishes, and has threatened to kill Ace and Luffy if Sabo does not comply. He ordered Sabo to marry a princess when he grew up, which caused him to run away. Basically, Sabo had no right to freedom of choice for his father.
Outlook had no confidence in him, so much so that he went to adopt a stepson of higher stature in order to have an heir worthy of his vision of nobility. One day, a child of higher social status than Sabo ordered him to carry him on his back to his home and Sabo refused. The young boy then hit him and threatened him with a knife, Sabo returned his blows. When their mothers arrived, the boy's mother demanded an explanation from Sabo's mother. Not caring about her son's explanation and the fact that he was not at fault, Didit slapped him hard and glared at him, then apologized to the other boy's mother. This episode proves that, for her too, social status and reputation count more than her own son in her eyes.
Sterry
While Sabo values his brotherhood with Ace and Luffy, he doesn't care about his adopted brother, Sterry. Until Sterry tells him that the Kingdom has planned a terrible fire at Grey Terminal for the arrival of the Celestial Dragon in the Kingdom.
The battles of Sabo
Sabo vs Fujitora
It was in the Dressrosa Arc in Chapter 751 of the manga, titled Sabo vs. Admiral Fujitora, and in episode 687 of the anime, with the title "A Great Clash! Team Leader Sabo vs. Admiral Fujitora", that the confrontation between the blind Admiral 👮🏼♂️ and the number 2 of the Revolutionary Army began. It followed the fight between the latter and Vice Admiral Bastille as well as several soldiers of the Navy and which resulted in the easy and quick victory of the revolutionary. An exchange between the two characters followed, during which Sabo revealed to the Admiral that he is the spiritual brother of Ace and Luffy. He went on to say that if Luffy ever calls him for help, he will come wherever he is in the world and no matter what he is doing because he does not want to relive the misfortune of Ace's death. Admiral Fujitora then drew his sword ⚔️ while Sabo activated the pyrokinetic power of his Demon Fruit. And their clash began with Sabo's fiery attack with his cane that the Admiral was able to block easily with his blade while the surrounding Navy soldiers were thrown into the air.
After that, the fight between Sabo and Fujitora was getting more and more intense, which surrounded the area with a fire barrier. 🔥 However, the blind Admiral was able to parry each of the Revolutionary's following attacks. Next, Issho tried to pin Sabo to the ground by manipulating gravity but Sabo was able to escape by bursting into flames. The Admiral then created a black hole in the direction of Sabo but this one used his technique Ryuusouken: Ryu no Ibuki in order to stop the evolution of the black hole. Sabo took advantage of the smoke screen 💨 caused by his technique to launch a new attack but his opponent could parry it again. After that, Admiral Fujitora asked Sabo to go more slowly in his attacks since he was blind but Luffy's brother replied that he doesn't make distinction. Issho then unleashed a horizontal gravity using a technique called Sword Gravity: Fierce Tiger. Despite the force of this gravity, Sabo was able to move by setting himself on fire and using fire to glide. He went on the attack again and his kick 🦶🏼 caused a huge explosion of fire that set the whole area on fire. And yet, Issho was able to block this attack with his blade. It was at this point that the Admiral told Sabo that if he really wanted to bet on this game against him, he had to be willing to pay a high price: his own life. And so the fight ended with no victory or defeat for either of them.
Sabo vs Jesus Burgess
This confrontation also took place in the Dressrosa Arc shortly after the fight between Sabo and Admiral Fujitora (between chapters 786 and 792 of the manga and between episodes 728 and 735 of the anime). Luffy was in a tight spot after using all his resources with the Gear Fourth to take down the Corsair Captain ☠️ Don Quixote Doflamingo. Exhausted, he needed a few minutes to recover his Haki. This left him at the mercy of his opponent and anyone else. Having noticed the failure of the Straw Hat Pirate, Jesus Burgess alias Champion wanted to take advantage of it to kill him and get his Demon Fruit, the Gumo Gumi no Mi. Coming out of the shadows, he threw himself at Luffy with a dagger 🗡️ in his hand but at the same time, Sabo also appeared and intervened to save his brother. He sent Burgess waltzing into the background with a terrific kick to the head.
There followed an exchange between the Number 2 of the Revolutionary Army and the commander of the 1st fleet of Blackbeard's Crew. Sabo revealed to him that Luffy and Ace are his brothers and, even if he doesn't want to take revenge for Ace's death, he will do anything to protect his other brother. He also revealed that he was the holder of the Mera Mera no Mi, which aroused Burgess' interest. Burgess then decided to attack Sabo using his Galleon Lariat technique, which cut the Revolutionary in two as well as the building 🏢 which was behind him. Fortunately, thanks to his Demon Fruit which is of Logia type, this attack had no repercussion on Sabo who was able to reconstitute himself immediately after. This one counterattacked with one of his techniques, the Moeru Ryusouken: Kaen Ryuowhich is a combination of the flames from Mera Mera no Mi and the Ryosouken, his martial art with bare hands. 👐🏼 Hit with full force, the Blackbeard pirate found himself ejected into the distance while suffering from burns.
After recovering his Haki, Luffy was finally able to knock out Doflamingo. On his side, Sabo also managed to defeat Burgess but let him live because he thought it was not necessary to kill him since everything was over. However, Burgess started to provoke him by mocking his brother Ace and his death. He had in mind the idea of killing the Revolutionary by surprise by stabbing him with the knife 🔪 he was hiding behind his back. His plan almost worked since pissed off, Sabo approached him and took his head in his hands while intimating him to shut up. But when he tried to stab him aiming for the head, Sabo was able to dodge the blow and attacked him with a blistering blow with hisHiken or Fist 👊🏼 Ardent, a technique he uses in tribute to Ace. Burgess will then find himself thrown into the rubble, without being able to get up, permanently.
Sabo's skills
When the three spiritual brothers were still children, Sabo had almost the same strength as Ace. As an adult, he had taken part in a major operation with the Revolutionary Army in Dressrosa while the Navy as well as the Don Quixote Family were also involved. In particular, he took Luffy's place in the 🤼♂️ Gladiator Tournament held in the Corrida Colosseum or Corrida Coliseum and won as well as the trophy, the Mera Mera no Mi. Also note that after Monkey D. Dragon, he is the second most powerful member among the Revolutionaries, which proves his great strength. This can be seen especially in his ability to imitate the claws of a dragon with his fists when fighting or to break steel objects such as swords, ⚔️ guns or even bazookas with great ease and just with the strength of his hands. Another proof of his strength is that he was able to compete and match Fujitora who is, as an Admiral, one of the three most powerful officers in the Navy after the Admiral Commander in Chief.
Sabo also possesses mastery of Busoshoku no Haki or Weapon Haki. He was notably seen using this power in combination with his Ryu no Kagizume or Dragon's Claw technique to break Jesus Burgess' 🛡️ armor into a million pieces in the Corrida Coliseum arena. He also uses this Haki when he uses the Ryusoken. Note in passing that Sabo is particularly gifted in the mastery of this martial art which is based on the hands. One of his attacks based on this Haki is the Ryuusouken: Ryu no Ibuki or Dragon's Fists: Dragon's Breath which allows him to explode 💥 everything under the ground just by thrusting his two fists into it. Sabo used this technique in chapter 743 of the manga when he destroyed the Corrida Coliseum stage and won the tournament.
It is also known that Number 2 of the Revolutionary Army is also experienced in using Kenbunshoku no Haki or Observation Haki. He was seen calling upon this 💦 Sensitive Fluid in episode 737 of the anime in order to dodge a flurry of gunfire (he never used it in the manga at the moment). As when he was a child, Sabo still uses his favorite weapon, an iron pipe, when he fights but this weapon is now bigger. Moreover, thanks to the power of his Demon Fruit, he is now able to ignite his metal pipe like a fire stick.
Demon Fruit: Mera Mera no Mi
Thanks to his victory in the Corrida Coliseum, Sabo was able to win the Mera Mera no Mi, a Logia-like Demon Fruit 💦👿 that previously belonged to his adopted brother Portgas D. Ace. This Demon Fruit gives its user pyrokinetic powers, namely the ability to create fire, control it or even turn his body into fire as needed. He literally becomes a Fireman. His Demon Fruit attacks use fire as their foundation and he can withstand even extreme heat. When the user's body becomes fire, he can burn his opponent(s) depending on the range of his attack. Moreover, its physical attacks can also be strengthened by the use of fire. Added to this, its holder does not fear the vast majority of physical attacks as long as they are not imbued with Weapon Haki, this is due to the fact that it is a Logia-type Demon Fruit 🫐.
Due to its Logia nature, the one who ate this Demon Fruit is able to confront other Logia users, such as Smoker and his smoke with Moku Moki no Mi or Aokiji and his ice ❄️ with Hie Hie no Mi. However, this strength is also a weakness since the powers of his three Demon Fruits cancel each other out. In addition, another of Mera Mera no Mi's weaknesses is that it is hierarchically inferior to Admiral Commander-in-Chief Sakazuki aka Akainu's Magu Magu no Mi in the ranking of Demon Fruits. It is therefore weaker. Indeed, the flames of Mera Mera no Mi can be smothered by magma. Despite the intangibility of the Logia-type Demon Fruits 🍒, the user of the Mera Mera no Mi can be severely or even fatally burned, as was the case for Ace.
During his lifetime, Portgas D. Ace aka Ace with Burning Fists used his pyrokinetic powers to both fight and operate his motorized, wheeled, and sailing 🚣🏼♂️ craft, the Striker. He used them in more than a dozen techniques, such as Kagero, Enkei or Jujika. It should be noted that Ace already possessed his abilities three years before he saw Luffy again in the Kingdom of Alabasta. As for Sabo, he was immediately able to call upon the powers of Mera Mera no Mi a few seconds after eating it. However, he didn't know how to use it optimally at first. He sometimes set his body on fire without wanting to and then had burning sensations, sometimes only psychologically. However, soon after, he was able to transfer his powers to his staff as all Logia Demon Fruit users can do. He was also able to become intangible, which prevents him from being injured. 🩸 At the moment, he is only known to have two techniques using his Demon Fruit, namely Hiken or Fire Fist and Moeru Ryusoken: Kaen Ryuo or Dragon Flame Fists: Flames of the Dragon King. Note that Sabo has been seen practicing his powers after the events in Dressrosa.
History of Sabo
Character's origins
Sabo was born in the Kingdom 🏰 of Goa, on the island of Dawn which is located in the East Blue sea area. Coming from noble parents, he was predestined to marry a daughter of the nobility so that the respect due to his family name would be preserved. Yet his parents seemed to pay little attention to Sabo's well-being and happiness. When his father came home tired from work, he sent his son straight to his room to study while tearing up one of his drawings. As for his mother, instead of taking care of her son who was wounded with a knife during a fight between Sabo and the son of a royal family, 👑 she preferred to confess her apology to the latter. It is more important for her to preserve the relations with this royal family than to take care of her bruised son. For her parents, Sabo only served to guarantee their comfort and social status. That's why, at the age of 10, little Sabo made his parents believe he was dead and escaped from the family home to the Grey Terminal, a lawless area with the appearance of a huge open-air public dump 🗑️ and where the dregs of society (outlaws, pirates and bandits) are holed up.
Luffy, Ace and Sabo
Skills and Competencies
He was almost as strong as Ace (as a child). He was a nice kid who dreamed of being free. Unlike Ace, he encourages Luffy on his training and is more tolerant with him. Before he met Ace, he was extremely lonely.
As an adult, he participated in a major operation in Dressrosa involving the Navy, the Revolutionary Army, and the Don Quixote Family. He replaces Luffy to win the Mera Mera no Mi at the Coliseum Corrida. He is also the second most powerful character in the Revolutionaries behind Monkey D. Dragon, a testament to his strength. This was later demonstrated with the ability of his fists to mimic the talons of a dragon, and the ease with which he could break a steel object with the strength of his hands alone. He also competed with Issho a Navy Admiral which proves his strength.
Attack List
Haki Based Attacks
- Ryu no Kagizume (Dragon Claw): Sabo positions his fingers as if his hand were a claw and strikes his enemy. Used for the first time against Burgess and in conjunction with Weapon Haki, it shattered the armor he was wearing on his right arm.
- Ryuusouken: Ryu no Ibuki (Dragon Fists: Dragon's Breath): Sabo plants his 2 fists in the ground which makes what is underneath explode in a large radius. First used in Chapter 743 in the Corrida Coliseum, to destroy the ring and win.
Mera Mera no Mi
- Hiken (火拳 Hiken, which literally means "Fiery Fist"): technique in memory of Ace. Like his brother, Sabo turns his fist into flames and launches a column of fire at his target.
- Moeru Ryusoken: Kaen Ryuo (燃える竜爪拳 "火炎 "竜王 Moeru Ryūsōken: Kaen Ryūō, which means "Fists of Dragon Flames: Flames of the Dragon King"): A technique that combines the flames of Mera Mera no Mi and Ryusoken. After forming his "claws", Sabo combines them with the power of Mera Mera no Mi and he violently hits his enemy, sending him waltzing with a circular burst of fire.
Every Logia Demon Fruit user can use their powers to transfer them to weapons. In this case, Sabo uses Mera Mera no Mi on his fighting stick.

Sabo counting the money he and Ace have stolen
Sabo was born in the Kingdom of Goa. His parents are noble, and want him to marry another noble girl in order to preserve their family name, but they do not seem to care about Sabo as an individual. His father, tired of work, was shown tearing up one of his drawings and ordering him to go to his room and study. One day he was injured in a fight with a boy from a royal family who used a knife, but Sabo's mother immediately began to apologize, in tears to the boy from the royal family. She would rather "repair" the relationship with the royal family than heal her injured son.
Realizing that he was nothing more than a means for his parents to secure their wealth and status, Sabo flees to Grey Terminal, letting his parents believe he was dead. Later, he meets Ace. A few months later, Ace arrives at the Grey Terminal, having lost Luffy along the way. Sabo tells Ace that it is late and that he himself was doing a job "collecting" money. Ace replies that he has also finished his work, then he puts his money in Sabo's hands. Sabo counts and, impressed, admits that Ace has collected more money than he has. Ace says they have a long way to go before they can buy a pirate ship. Sabo puts the money in a stash underground, admiring their five years of effort, and Ace tells him to shut up because someone might see them.
Luffy, having overheard their conversation, suddenly shows up and says he wants to be a pirate too. Sabo and Ace, however, are not happy to see that Luffy has finally managed to successfully follow Ace to the Grey Terminal. Determined to prevent him from telling anyone about their secret, they eventually decide that Luffy must be killed and tie him to a tree. However, they are unable to decide who should do it, as none of them have killed anyone before.
Before they can decide, they hear someone approaching and untie Luffy to go hide. They see Porchemy of the Bluejam pirate crew and two others, and discover that Ace's money belonged to Bluejam. It is revealed that Sabo and Ace are in fact notorious thieves, even in the lawless Grey Terminal, and are highly respected by all the bandits, presumably for their impressive fighting skills. They realize that Luffy is missing and see that he has been caught by Porchemy. Luffy calls Ace for help. Recognizing his name, Porchemy thinks Luffy must know something about the stolen money, and takes him away.
Believing that Luffy will soon reveal the location of the money and worried about their treasure, Sabo and Ace go into the Median Forest to hide it elsewhere. The task lasts until sunset, and, while Ace is happy to have successfully completed the task, Sabo arrives and shocks Ace by informing him that Luffy hasn't cracked yet. They run to where Luffy is tied up and tortured for information by an increasingly desperate Porchemy. As Porchemy loses his temper and is about to kill Luffy, Sabo and Ace emerge from the wall. Sabo manages to hit Porchemy and frees Luffy, but Ace is determined to stay and fight Porchemy, declaring that he will never run away once he is confronted with an enemy, Sabo yells at him to stop, because Porchemy, a pirate armed with a sword, is stronger than their usual targets. He joins Ace in his fight, and together they defeat Porchemy.
After the fight, they return to the forest, covered in bandages, and Sabo scolds Ace for his habit of saying, "I'm not going to run away" even from real pirates, and as a result of the fight, the Bluejam pirates will surely resent them. Luffy cries and thanks Ace for saving him. Ace loses his patience, and Sabo prevents him from hitting Luffy. Ace asks him why he was so determined to keep their secret and become his friend, even after being tortured. Luffy exclaims that he has no one else to rely on, and being alone is worse than the physical pain. This pleases Ace, who remembers that no one would want the son of the pirate king to exist. However, he mentions that he doesn't like children who cry like babies, which Luffy completely denies.
Sabo interrupts them by reminding them that from now on, their lives will be targeted by the pirates. He leaves the dump to go live with Ace and Luffy, Dadan and the mountain bandits, who are surprised and displeased to have a third kid to take care of. Sabo politely greets Dadan and introduces himself. Dadan recognizes his name and says that she has heard bad things about him. Sabo simply replies that he has heard bad things about her as well. Sabo stays with the bandits for an indefinite period of time, during which he fights with Ace and Luffy or hunts wild animals, outlaws from the Grey Terminal, and kids in town, and thus achieves a lower level of notoriety.
During a day in the city of Goa, Sabo is spotted by his father while running away. Ace and Luffy hear him call Sabo, and later demand to know what Sabo is hiding. He reluctantly reveals his lineage, but they don't seem particularly shocked. Sabo suddenly exclaims to Ace and Luffy that they will go to sea and become free pirates no matter what, revealing that his dream is to see the world and write a book about it. Ace declares that his ambition is to earn the reputation of a great pirate. Luffy surprises Ace and Sabo with his ambitions. Sabo mentions that there is a problem, because they can't all three be the captains of their ship. Ace tells him to leave those decisions for the future. He starts pouring the drinks, saying that if their cups of alcohol are switched, they will be brothers no matter what happens. From then on, the three will do everything together.
After a while, Sabo's father and the Bluejam pirates find the trio. Since his father hired the Bluejam pirates to confront Ace and Luffy, presumably by killing them, Sabo finds no choice but to follow his father in order to let Ace and Luffy escape. We see him walking away from his "brothers", in tears, while Ace yells at him in a last effort to stop him.

Destruction of a "disgusting" city
When Sabo is brought back to the city, he is taken to the police station to discuss his crimes while he was running away. Sabo's father constantly tries to pressure him by stating that his friends pushed him to commit crimes with them. However, Sabo refuses to lie, and eventually his father hits him, knocking him to the ground, and gives bribes to the authorities to get the paperwork done. At home, he meets his adopted brother, Sterry, who reveals a plot by the royal family and nobles to burn down Grey Terminal before the World Government inspectors arrive.
Sabo flees again to find help and warn the people of Grey Terminal, discovering that all the nobles are fully aware of the plan, unconcerned about him, and unwilling to help him stop it. He finally arrives at the big gate after the fires have begun to spread, desperately yelling at Ace and Luffy to run, and is pushed aside by the soldiers guarding the gate. He is found by Monkey D. Dragon, to whom he confides the truth about the plan to burn the Grey Terminal and his shame at being born a noble. Dragon, shocked by such words from a child, agrees to listen to him. After the burning of the Grey Terminal, Sabo is caught and returns home once again. However, in order to prevent escape attempts, Sabo's parents lock him up and his father encourages Sabo to do whatever it takes to make his parents happy. Despite this, the day the Celestial Dragons arrive, he manages to escape once again, this time by setting sail on his own boat. Shortly after his departure, he stumbles upon the Celestial Dragon's ship. He begins to move away so as not to get caught in the wake of the large ship. A Celestial Dragon, Saint Jalmack, aboard his ship is offended that a commoner dares to cross his path and shoots him with a gun the size of a small cannon. This sets fire to Sabo's ship. As Sabo tries to put out the fire with his jacket, the Celestial Dragon shoots at him again. This time, the ship bursts into pieces. All that can be seen of Sabo in the wreckage is now his tattered hat.
Sabo at the revolutionaries
After he was brought back to his city and returned to his home, 🏚️ he met Sterry who is his new adopted brother. The latter confided to him the existence of an imminent plot orchestrated by the nobles as well as the royal family whose goal is to set fire to the Grey Terminal before inspectors of the World Government land. Sabo then took off again to warn people and find help. Unfortunately, all the nobles knew about this evil plan and refused to help him. It was only after the fires started and spread that he was able to reach the big gate. 🚪 No sooner had he been able to yell at Ace and Luffy to run to escape the place than he was pushed aside by the soldiers on guard at the gate. It was finally Monkey D. Dragon who found him and to whom he revealed what was going on. Afterwards, he was caught again by his father, locked up and then escaped again on his own boat. The latter was destroyed by Saint Jalmack, a World Noble and it was reported to Ace and Luffy that Sabo was dead.
However, Sabo was actually rescued by Monkey D. Dragon and brought back to his ship ⛵ to the members of the Revolutionary Army. Unfortunately, it turns out that Ace and Luffy's adopted brother lost his memory during his accident. Afterwards, he was accepted into the Revolutionaries and underwent both intellectual and physical training on the island of Baltigo aka "The White Earth" or "The Land of Mysteries" where the first headquarters of the Revolutionary Army was located. Throughout his training, he was able to demonstrate his abilities and reflexes in combat despite having lost his memory. He was able to stand up to the highest members of the organization, except for Dragon, who knocked him out with one blow when he tried to attack him. By the time he was 17 years old, he had already achieved some fame among the Revolutionaries for being able to infiltrate a fortress by himself 🏯 and free the hostages while having destroyed the castle. He later became the second most powerful member of the organization after Dragon.
