Sasuke Uchiwa (うちはサスケ, Uchiha Sasuke) is a main character in the series. He was initially introduced as a protagonist, a member of Konoha belonging to Team Kakashi. Over the course of the series, he became increasingly darker, culminating in an alliance with the Akatsuki, becoming one of the most dynamic characters in the series.

History
Sasuke is the son of Fugaku Uchiwa and his wife Mikoto, and named after Sasuke Sarutobi, the father of Hiruzen Sarutobi. Sasuke grew up in the shadow of his older brother, Itachi Uchiwa. Itachi was a renowned prodigy who was considered by the Uchiwa clan to be a genius, and whose job was to strengthen the ties between the village and the clan. Sasuke's father in particular, had the greatest interest in Itachi. Itachi, on the other hand, was rather ambivalent and oddly following a contradictory path with his clan, going so far as to take an interest in Sasuke's training and progress as a ninja when even their father wasn't paying attention, but he couldn't spend much time with Sasuke. Even after enrolling in the Academy, Sasuke was still unable to escape the shadow of Itachi. Although he was still rated as the top student in his class, Sasuke received no recognition from his father, who compared Sasuke's success to that of his older brother.
Itachi's relationship with his father deteriorated further after Itachi was questioned by the other members of the Uchiwa clan about the suicide of his best friend, Shisui Uchiwa. As Itachi's behavior became more and more bizarre, Sasuke's father began to spend more time with Sasuke, and started to teach him Katon - Supreme Fireball, a common family jutsu considered a sign of coming of age in the Uchiwa clan. When Sasuke started to try to perform the jutsu, he could only produce a small flame and after that, a little smoke. His father said that Itachi was able to do it on his first attempt at Sasuke's age, which disappointed him.
Later, after a week of training, Sasuke (less than 7 years old at that time) performed the jutsu in front of his father, proving that he too was a genius and he finally received his father's recognition. Sasuke's father told him that he could now proudly wear the clan emblem on his back. Following this, Sasuke also received a stern warning not to follow Itachi's footsteps later on, surprising him since before this, he was told to be like him; and his father showed that he was proud of Sasuke for the first time in the same way he did with Itachi.
Soon after, Itachi killed every member of the Uchiwa clan, sparing only Sasuke, saying that he was not even worth killing. Furthermore, Itachi said to him, "You always wanted to surpass me. That's why I'm going to let you live... if you want to kill me, then hate me, despise me... and by all means run away, cling to your miserable life.". Itachi also revealed to Sasuke where the secret meeting place of the Uchiwa was, and suggested Sasuke to go there to learn the true history and purpose of the Sharingan. He told him that in order to awaken his Mangekyô Sharingan, he had to kill the person he was closest to, and that when he had the same eyes as him, he could fight him. Sasuke thought that he had fainted after that, but later remembered that he had managed to get back on his feet, awakened his Sharingan and went after Itachi. When he reached him, he saw his brother shed a tear. He then neutralized Sasuke, who woke up in the hospital remembering only what Itachi wanted from him.
Sasuke, now one of the only survivors of the Uchiwa clan, was alone. After the massacre, he spent the first few days wandering and thinking about the people who were killed by Itachi. Sasuke decided to do what Itachi asked him to do and dedicated his life to revenge, having no other interest than killing his brother. His behavior changed at the Academy, making no effort to bond and completely ignoring all the girls' attempts to win his affection. One of his classmates, Naruto, hated his cool personality and the attention he received, and developed a one-sided rivalry, trying to prove that he was better than him. For his part, Sasuke cared little for Naruto, giving him little attention and was generally annoyed by his outbursts.
Personality
When he was a child, Sasuke was a very nice boy, affectionate towards his parents and his brother, and respectful towards his clan and his teachers. He was even very proud to be Itachi's brother and Fugaku's son. His initial dream was to join the Konoha Police Department later on, like his father. For this reason, he was very much looking for approval and recognition of his abilities by his father. After Itachi's massacre of the clan, Sasuke's innocence was damaged, his ideals and personality changed dramatically, he became cold, lonely, cruel, cynical, a little arrogant and for the next eight years of his life, he devoted himself to his revenge against Itachi.
When he joined Team Kakashi, Sasuke showed a great indifference towards his teammates. Feeling superior to them, including his master, Sasuke was not willing to cooperate with Naruto Uzumaki or Sakura Haruno, as he felt that they would not provide him with any help to kill Itachi. However, over time, as he spent more time with his team, Sasuke began to lose some of his anger, caring more about his team than his revenge. To help him regain his desire for power, Orochimaru gave Sasuke the Cursed Mark of Heaven during the Chûnin Exam to give him a taste of power. However, Kakashi sealed the seal and taught him the Thousand Birds in the hope of keeping him from the path of revenge and protecting his friends.
According to Kakashi, Sasuke has both a superiority and inferiority complex, as he is not willing to recognize when someone is stronger than him, but he is obsessed with the idea of someone being stronger than him. For example, he was complacent in his rivalry with Naruto, when he believed that he was stronger, but he noticed a rapid progress of Naruto, after his victory over the jinchûriki of Suna village, Gaara, who had already defeated Sasuke, and his quick defeat of Itachi, when Itachi returned to Konoha, Sasuke began to believe that his progress would be much too slow staying in Konoha, which led to his desertion to join the village of Oto to search for the power of Orochimaru. After deserting the village, Sasuke left with the Sound Quartet and went to the Land of Sound, only the members of the Sound Quartet had to fight against Sasuke's search party and he had to face Naruto alone at the Valley of the End, where Naruto tried to save him from the path of revenge. Sasuke in turn intended to kill Naruto, his closest friend, to awaken his Mangekyo Sharingan, but despite his victory, he chose to go against his brother, and decided to defeat Itachi on his own.
In part II, Sasuke's personality returned much as it did in his first encounter with Team 7, as his revenge against Itachi took precedence over everything, including his own life. He also claimed that he had cut all ties with his life in Konoha, believing that they were the cause of his weakness, even going so far as to attempt to kill Naruto, whom he had spared in their previous fight, to prove how much he had detached himself from his previous life. Despite this, Sasuke didn't seem willing to kill unnecessarily in his quest for revenge, and later when he fought the eight-tailed demon jinchurriki, Killer B, Sasuke was reminded of Team Kakashi as he saw members of his own Taka team sacrifice themselves to help him.
Although he had previously said that he didn't care if he had to sacrifice his body to Orochimaru until he had completed his quest for revenge, when Sasuke felt that he had become stronger than Orochimaru, he declared that giving himself up to someone weaker than himself was an insult to the Uchiwa clan. He started the battle and absorbed Orochimaru's consciousness when Orochimaru tried to steal his body. This is just one example of the immense loyalty that Sasuke has to his clan, bordering on obsession, he continued to wear his symbol on his back with pride, while he refused to wear any other symbols such as the headband. He also looked down on non-Uchiwa wielding the Sharingan, considering it an insult, that the eye is a symbol of the power of the Uchiwa clan, while Itachi and Madara praised Kakashi's mastery of the Sharingan, more skilled than Obito Uchiwa, Sasuke expressed his resentment towards a non-Uchiwa for possessing it, and that Kakashi should be grateful to the Uchiwa for the power he had in his possession. Sasuke showed even more disgust when he saw Danzo with ten Sharingan in his arms, and an eleventh in place of his right eye.
After his fight with Itachi, which resulted in Itachi's death, the revelation that he was ordered by the elders of Konoha to kill the Uchiwa clan coupled with the fact that Itachi truly loved him, Sasuke swore to destroy Konoha to the last inhabitant for sacrificing Itachi and the Uchiwa clan for their own happiness. The more Sasuke devoted himself to his new quest for revenge, the more cruel and ruthless he became. He also showed great rage whenever someone mentioned Itachi in a negative sense, crushing Danzo (who turned out to be a clone created by Izanagi) with his Susano for speaking ill of his brother.
After Danzo's death, Sasuke felt a joy in life that he had never felt before, and even after seeing the death of a high ranking member of Konoha, it led him to the vow of wanting to kill everyone in the village to finally separate the Uchiwa clan's ties to the village, and in doing so, purify the clan's name. At this point, Sasuke's hatred and thirst for revenge seemed to have crossed the point of no return, which Sakura (at first) and Kakashi concluded when they saw him, losing hope in a possible comeback on his part. Even Karin, despite being obsessed with him, gave up being with him. Now, the only people who still have some faith in him are Naruto, and lately Sakura, who decided to trust Naruto's ability to save his friend and Sasuke's ability to see reason. Sasuke, in response to Naruto's relentlessness to save him, gave up his refusal to transplant Itachi's eyes onto himself, hoping to gain his full power to destroy Naruto, hating him and what he stands for more than anything else, for refusing to give up on delivering him from the grip of revenge.
During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Sasuke found Itachi and his hatred towards Konoha stronger than before, but at the same time, his brother's willingness to protect his village disturbed him to the point of reflecting on his hatred. After hearing the story of the creation of the village by the First Hokage and his vision of the ninja, Sasuke decided to oppose Madara, to protect his village and to change the ninja system but his intentions remained unclear.
As far as women are concerned, he is considered as very handsome and cool by them. Nevertheless, he doesn't show any interest to them. Only his relationship with his teammate, Sakura, was ambiguous. When he left the village, he addressed her a "Thank you" which can suggest different interpretations. The author delivers, moreover, in his Second Databook, that Sakura was the only one who filled his life with loneliness, but that he could not let her in because of his quest for revenge. In the end, he did not respond to her declaration of love for him.
Despite his deep ties to his team members and his attachment to his home village, Sasuke could not turn his back on his quest for revenge. He tried to break any link that he considered as a brake to his hatred, even if it meant trying to kill the people who were dear to him. He tried to cultivate this hatred in order to increase his power, because for him, it is what makes his strength.
Apparence
Sasuke has spiky black hair with a blue tint, which gets longer as the story progresses, and onyx-colored eyes. He has lighter skin than his older brother, Itachi. Like many other members of his clan, his hair is parted on both sides of his face roughly framing his cheeks. A recurring theme in his appearance is that he is considered very handsome by almost every girl near his age. At the beginning of Part I, Sasuke's outfit consisted of a blue short-sleeved shirt with a high collar and the Uchiwa clan symbol on the back, and white arm warmers and white shorts. He had blue sandals and bandages covering his calves. He wore his headband on his forehead.
In the final stage of the Chûnin Exam, he wore a black one-piece outfit, with lots of little belts adorning his left arm and similar bands around both legs, but eventually he reverted to his original clothes, due to the difficulty of the designers to draw the black version on a regular basis. As the story progressed, the Uchiwa symbol became smaller and smaller. Overall, Sasuke bears a striking resemblance to Izuna Uchiwa.
Initially, Sasuke wore a blue headband with the symbol of Konoha on the metal plate. After suffering a second defeat against Itachi, Sasuke stopped wearing it for a while. He put it back on during the second half of the fight against Naruto at the Valley of the End, dropping it at the end. After that, Sasuke did not wear the headband anymore.
In part II, Sasuke grew noticeably over the two and a half years and became more muscular. He was first dressed in a white long-sleeved shirt that was open at the chest, with a smaller version of the Uchiwa symbol on his collar. He wore black pants with a blue fabric hanging halfway down his stomach to his knees. He also wore a purple rope belt around his waist, tied in a bow, in which he carried his sword. After fighting Deidara, he switched to a dark gray sleeveless shirt. His arm guards were also removed, and he began to wear bandages on his wrists, under which he wore bracelets with special seals where he stored his shurikens. He also wore a coat with this.
After meeting and defeating Itachi, he put on a gray short-sleeved shirt with a high collar similar in appearance to the blue shirt he often wore in Part I, with an open zipper at the mid-chest. He also wore blue wrist warmers. He briefly wore an Akatsuki coat. Another remarkable feature is that, with this new outfit, Sasuke started to let his hair hang down on his forehead. The Uchiwa symbol on the back of his suit returned to its original size from his fight with Itachi. After meeting Hagoromo Ôtsutsuki and receiving some of his powers, Sasuke had a black crescent moon on the palm of his left hand and a left eye similar to Jûbi's.
Skills
Sharingan
Sasuke first used Sharingan with a tomoe when he was 7 years old, during the massacre of the Uchiwa by his brother, when he was about to faint, he pulled himself together and threw two kunai on Itachi's headband before fainting.
He used the Sharingan with two tomoe during his fight against Haku. From then on, he copied several techniques or fighting styles, including Lee's lotus flower even though he had only seen it in action once and he even imitated Lee's style after just one month of intensive training.
He used the Sharingan with the three tomoe in his fight against Naruto. Thanks to this, he could see his opponent's movements and thus counter them and fight back effectively. He could also use powerful Genjutsu spells and see the chakra in his color. He could even enter Naruto's body where Kyûbi was and seal the power of the latter with his Sharingan. Kyûbi complimented him and told him about the chakra even more evil than his own and the power of his pupil. He also said that he reminded him of the Madara Uchiwa of the past.
Mangekyô Sharingan
He used Kaleidoscope after his fight with Itachi. He quickly learned his new powers under the guidance of "Madara". With the fight against Hachibi, he mastered Amaterasu and was able to extinguish the flames with his eye while even Itachi was unable to do so. He further showed his superiority to Itachi in controlling Amaterasu against the Raikage by manipulating the flames into a shield.
He used Susanô for the first time against Gaara, Kankuro, Temari and Darui. It was incomplete at first but he completed it against Danzo because of an explosion of anger. Against the Raikage, he used Susano's skeleton to protect himself from his Taijutsu. Against Danzo, he could throw very fast arrows, enough to force him to use Izanagi all the time. Against Kakashi, again due to a burst of anger, he almost completed it, but due to the excessive use of his eyes, he did not. However, we notice that Sasuke's final Susanô looks like Itachi's and that he had a shield similar to the Yata mirror of Itachi's final Susanô, and a gourd like Itachi's. In the manga, all this is not visible but in the anime it is.
Eien no Mangekyô Sharingan
He then asked for Itachi's eyes which Tobi implanted in him. After a while, Sasuke got tired of waiting and killed White Zetsu, who was trying to stop him from getting out, with a sword made of Amaterasu flames which consumed Zetsu. It was then seen that Sasuke's Susanô had somehow evolved to a higher level, far beyond any of his previous Susanô.
Sasuke's Susanô now has a sword similar to Itachi's but made of Amaterasu flames, an impressive and gigantic light colored shield and an ominous black ball containing black flames, which he can use to create Susanô projectiles made of Amaterasu flames. He can also give Susanô a lower part, giving it a size similar to a bijû and a similar power by stabilizing his Susanô. He can also create a pair of wings to fly.
He is one of the few people to have awakened a Mangekyô Sharingan of the same caliber as Madara's, the latter suspecting a relationship closer than blood between the two.
Rinnegan
After receiving some of the powers of the Rikudô Sennin because he felt guilty for not giving enough time to his elder son, Indra, and for giving all his time to the younger son, Asura, Sasuke's left eye became almost like Jûbi's. He seems to be able to teleport over a certain distance or teleport objects like his sword. He can also see Madara's shadows created by the Rimbo - Hengoku but he can't touch them without using the chakra of the Rikudô Sennin. He can also use the powers of Rikudô. He can also create meteorites easily and quickly without using too much chakra.
Shurikenjutsu
Like his brother, Sasuke excels in throwing shuriken. In his fight against Itachi, he was equal to him in shuriken throwing. He also mastered the shadow shuriken technique which he used during the fight against Itachi, where he even implanted his Raiton chakra into his shuriken (Raiton Flow).
Ninjutsu
He mastered Katon - Supreme Fireball at the age of 7 after only one week of training, which earned him the words he had always hoped to hear from his father, "You are my son. He also knows how to use Balsam, which he sometimes combines with shurikens to make it more powerful. He also uses Katon to heat up the sky to use his most powerful attack "Kirin". His supreme fireball is superior to Itachi's because in their fight Sasuke won against his. His mastery of Katon is hereditary because all the members of the Uchiwa clan have a Katon chakra nature.
Like Kakashi, Sasuke has mastered Raiton. His first Raiton technique was the Thousand Birds. He could only use the Thousand Birds twice at first, but after Orochimaru's training, he could surely use it more times. Again thanks to Orochimaru, he was able to make an improved version of the Thousand Birds: the Thousand Birds Flow, which he can throw around his body or at a distance with his hand. He can also pour his lightning chakra into his blade to cause spasms in anyone he slices. He can also create a five meter lightning blade. His most powerful attack is called "Kirin" with which he causes a gigantic explosion thanks to the lightning in the clouds he controls and which he strikes his opponent but it requires the heating of the clouds with a Katon technique. Itachi would have died if he had not used Susanô.
He seems to be able to use Enton but it is not known how he got it, if it is a combination of the primary chakra natures or a nature available through the Mangekyo Sharingan. He can manipulate the black flames of Amaterasu to defend and counterattack. He can also combine it with his Susanô to increase the power of his attacks or with Naruto's Fûton - Rasenshuriken to increase tenfold the power of their respective attacks.
After receiving chakra from Rikudô Sennin, Sasuke can create a Chidori with black lightning like the one he used with the cursed seal level 2.
Tactical thinking
In all his fights, Sasuke analyzes the enemy's style with his Sharingan and takes advantage of the weaknesses of his opponents. Against the Raikage, he turned the Raikage's speed against him with Amaterasu: as the Raikage was about to hit him, Sasuke created a shield of Amaterasu's flames which caused the Raikage to lose an arm. He trapped Danzo in his fight which allowed him to confirm his theories about Izanagi's power. He also cleverly used the suction current of Danzo's tapir with the ultimate fireball. This analytical ability was even recognized by Madara as equal to his own.
Part I
Introductory episodes
When Team 7 was formed, Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke were forced to join forces. Sasuke tried to avoid both of them, but he was still drawn into Sakura's romantic advances and Naruto's attempts to outdo him. As a result, Kakashi put them through the bell test, with the three team members taking the two bells that he kept on his person. Sasuke tried to pick up a bell by himself, ignoring Sakura and Naruto, and he was more successful than anyone else. Still without success, he was forced to regroup with his team. Together they realized that the real purpose of the test was to learn to put teamwork above mission success, and in doing so they passed the test.
Land of Waves
Sasuke's first major mission was to escort the bridge builder, Tazuna, to his home in the poor Land of Waves. Soon after he left, Sasuke showed exceptional skill when they were attacked by the Demon Brothers, and even mocked Naruto for being shocked and useless during this encounter. When they later had a tree-climbing exercise to improve their chakra control, he managed to stay ahead of Naruto for quite some time, but as Naruto started to catch up, they started to push their limits.
By improving his skills, Sasuke was almost able to compete with Haku, who was extremely dangerous because of his extreme speed and dexterity. It was during this battle that Sasuke awakened the heritage of his clan, the Sharingan, and even his self-sacrifice to put himself between Haku's attack and Naruto to protect the latter. Although he claimed that his body reacted by itself, his actions showed that he was willing to put himself in mortal danger for the sake of his friendship with Naruto. Although it appeared that Sasuke had died in battle, he later revealed that he was merely put into a temporary state of death.
Chûnin exam
Before the beginning of the Examem Chûnin, Sasuke fought against Rock Lee, who easily defeated the power of his Sharingan through an amazing display of speed and taijutsu prowess, because if the user can't observe the target, the Sharingan is useless. However, before the final blow was struck, Gai Maito interrupted the match and punished his beloved student for attempting to use a forbidden jutsu in a normal fight. In the first part of the exam, Sasuke realized that in order to pass the written exam, it was necessary to cheat without getting caught, that the tests in the written exam were used to evaluate the ninja's ability to gather information. Sasuke used the Sharingan to copy the movements of a student in front of him, effectively to copy the answers.
In the second test of the Chûnin Exam in the Forest of Death. At one point, Sasuke saved Karin from a bear, but he left her alone because he didn't need her scroll. Sasuke was then attacked by Orochimaru. Recognizing that they were no match for Orochimaru, Sasuke tried to surrender. However, Naruto stopped him, attacking Orochimaru regardless of the clear difference in strength, and lectured Sasuke as he had lectured Naruto before. This pushed Sasuke into action, giving him the will to defeat Orochimaru. Impressed, Orochimaru put his cursed seal on Sasuke's neck during the battle as a reward, which caused so much pain that Sasuke fell unconscious. As the seal synchronized with his body, he had nightmares, and when he woke up, he was overwhelmed by its power. He immediately saved Sakura from the attack of a sound genin, defeating them effortlessly and even breaking Zaku's arms. Recognizing that the cursed seal had apparently corrupted him, Sakura embraced him and asked him to stop. He gave in, and the seal subsided. Sasuke was surprised by its sudden strength.
In the preliminary phase of the last challenge, Sasuke had Yoroi Akado as an opponent. Before the fight started, Kakashi warned Sasuke that if his cursed seal got out of control, which would happen if he used his Sharingan, he would intervene immediately, thus disqualifying him from the competition. The fight started against Yoroi who absorbed the little chakra that Sasuke had left with his hands; moreover, Sasuke started to have a constant pain because of his cursed seal. Having only one option, and remembering his previous encounter with Rock Lee, Sasuke used Lion Fury. Yoroi was defeated and Sasuke advanced to the next phase.
After his victory, Kakashi took care to seal Sasuke's cursed seal, but reminded him that the seal would only remain active as long as Sasuke wanted it to. Not convinced that his words would dissuade Sasuke from activating the cursed seal, and from seeing Orochimaru as a source of energy, Kakashi used the month before the final phase to teach him the Thousand Birds. At the same time, knowing that Sasuke would be facing Gaara, he helped to increase Sasuke's speed to the level of Rock Lee. After arriving late to his fight with Gaara, Sasuke showed the fruits of his training, even managing to break Gaara's defenses and injure him. Before the fight could end, it was interrupted by the beginning of Orochimaru's attack on Konoha.
Konoha Invasion
With the beginning of the invasion, Gaara fled the village with his brother and sister, and Sasuke was sent after them by Genma. Sasuke went after them and after the short-lived battles with Kankuro and Temari, Sasuke caught up and fought Gaara. Sasuke used his Chidori, once again with the intention of hurting Gaara, who had now begun to transform into his Shukaku form. However, the transformation allowed Gaara to quickly recover from the attack, putting Sasuke on the defensive since he didn't have enough chakra left to use his Chidori again. With Gaara's will to kill him growing stronger, Sasuke had no choice but to tap into the cursed seal to use another Chidori. However, this had no effect against Gaara, and Sasuke fell from exhaustion. Unable to move, Sasuke was saved by the quick arrival of Sakura and Naruto. Sasuke watched Naruto's fight with Gaara unfold, and became jealous of Naruto once he won.
Search for Tsunade
After the failed invasion, Sasuke went to see Kakashi, but when he arrived at his master's house, he found Kakashi in a coma. Although no one in the room was willing to tell Sasuke what had happened, Aoba Yamashiro arrived soon after and let it slip that Itachi had returned to the village in search of Naruto.
Determined to find Itachi and to save Naruto (in order of priority), Sasuke hurried and found that Itachi was already there. Despite his best efforts, including the use of Chidori, none of his attacks had been able to hit Itachi. Itachi tormented Sasuke physically and mentally, denigrating him for still being too weak, leaving Sasuke with a broken wrist and mind. Sasuke then fell into a coma like Kakashi, trapped in Itachi's Moon Arcana technique. Gai brought Sasuke back to Konoha, however, he did not recover until Tsunade arrived in Konoha.
Country of Tea
In the anime, after Sasuke's recovery from Itachi's Tsukuyomi, Team 7 was given a mission in the Tea Land without Kakashi. During the mission, they met Idate Morino, their client, whom they had to protect during his run in the Tea Land. Towards the end of the race, they also met Aoi Rokusho, who had attacked them. Sasuke's Chidori was ineffective against Aoi's lightning sword; only making a crack in it. In the end, Idate won the race and Team 7 left Tea Land and Sasuke went back to the hospital for his injuries during the fight with Aoi. Unlike other off-series episodes, this arc affected the story, as it gave Sasuke one more reason to be irritated by Naruto getting stronger. Aoi's words about Sasuke being the weakest member of the Uchiwa clan also acted as a catalyst in Sasuke's desire to gain more power.
Mission of recovery of Sasuke
Angry that Itachi was still much stronger than him, and envious of the fact that Naruto had become stronger in such a short time, Sasuke challenged Naruto to a duel. Although they were stopped by Kakashi, their brief exchange was enough to show that Naruto's Rasengan was more damaging than Sasuke's Chidori. Kakashi reasoned with him about using Chidori on his own friends, but before Kakashi's words could stop him from sinking, Sasuke was confronted by Orochimaru's Sound Quartet, each of whom had their own cursed seal. Surprised by their abilities, which they claimed to have received from Orochimaru, they offered Sasuke to accompany them to Orochimaru's lair so that he could become stronger.
In order to get the power he desperately wanted, Sasuke decided to accept Orochimaru's offer, turning his back on Konoha in the process. Before he left the village, Sakura found him, and quickly understood the magnitude of what he was about to do. Desperate to lose Sasuke, Sakura did nothing and all she could do was confess her love for him and even offer her help to get revenge on Itachi. The last words, full of mystery, that Sasuke said to Sakura before leaving were: "Sakura... thank you for everything. Sasuke left with the Sound Quartet, who soon afterwards evolved his cursed seal to its second stage, a process that left him unconscious for most of the battles against Sasuke's Recovery Team.
Shortly after Sasuke woke up, he was found by Naruto. Sasuke was happy to see Naruto; after the massacre of the Uchiwa clan, Itachi had told Sasuke that he would only be able to compete with him after he obtained the Mangekyô Sharingan, which could only be achieved by killing his best friend, who was none other than Naruto to Sasuke. Naruto refused to let Sasuke do this and other reasons to pursue Orochimaru, preferring instead to bring Sasuke back to the village, by force if necessary. They then engaged in a battle, with Sasuke initially having the advantage thanks to his cursed seal and Sharingan. When he managed to pierce Naruto's right shoulder with his Chidori, the nine-tailed fox-demon's chakra kicked in to protect Naruto, giving him a massive power boost.
With Kyûbi's chakra, Naruto quickly threw himself on Sasuke in an attempt to hit him. Sasuke simply retorted to Naruto that he could never understand what it was like to lose family members because he never had a parent. Naruto reasoned with Sasuke that he was like a brother to him, so he would not let him destroy that bond. Sasuke's Sharingan evolved to its final stage at this point, tipping the battle in Sasuke's favor because he was able to predict Naruto's movements. Kyubi's chakra came to Naruto's aid again, wrapping him in a fox-like chakra shield and strengthening his power once more.
With Kyubi's chakra shield, Naruto was once again better than Sasuke, even with his cursed seal active. To counter Naruto's power, Sasuke activated the second stage of his cursed seal, getting a demonic figure with a pair of huge hands, like wings, coming out of his back. Naruto attacked with his Rasengan (reinforced by Kyûbi's chakra) and Sasuke with his Chidori (more powerful thanks to the Cursed Seal). Upon impact, a massive dome of black energy formed around them. Sasuke punched Naruto in the chest at the last second (instead of impaling him with his remaining Chidori) and knocked him out, while Naruto chose to scratch Sasuke's forehead band, something Sasuke said he wouldn't be able to do at the beginning of the fight.
After the energy dome dissipated, Sasuke was seen to be the winner, standing next to the unconscious Naruto. He wanted to kill Naruto, but he realized that this was exactly what Itachi wanted him to do and he decided not to follow his brother's advice anymore. Leaving behind his striped headband, which had fallen off after Naruto's last attack; Sasuke started to walk back to Orochimaru's lair. In doing so, Sasuke resolved to overtake Itachi in his own way, instead of following the same methods that Itachi used.
Country of the Sea
In the anime, during the missions that Naruto did between Sasuke who left and the Shippuden, Sasuke was briefly seen next to Orochimaru talking to Amachi. He was wearing a white outfit, the same outfit he had when he joined Oto. We saw his personality change, as well as his Sharingan, and then he left with Orochimaru, in the body of Genyûmaru, before the Konoha ninjas who came to the country, Naruto Uzumaki, Ino Yamanaka and Shino Aburame led by Anko Mitarashi arrived.
Pre-Shippûden Arc
He made a brief appearance at the end of episode 202. He was seen next to Orochimaru, having no desire to participate in Naruto and Sakura's show, wanting instead to go and train with Orochimaru.
Interlude
In the Footsteps of Naruto: The Paths of Friends
In the anime, about two years after his training with Orochimaru, Sasuke volunteered to deliver research material to one of Orochimaru's hideouts. There, Sasuke freed one of Orochimaru's test subjects, Suigetsu Hôzuki, and helped Karin capture Suigetsu once again. Satisfied with what he saw of their abilities, Sasuke decided to rally them both so that he could have them as allies in the future.
Part II
It had been three years since Sasuke had left Konoha to join Orochimaru. He followed a rigorous training in order to gain power, and to satisfy his revenge. He was more arrogant than ever, and his egoism was matched only by his talent.
When he saw Naruto and Sakura again, he was completely indifferent. He was even ready to fight against them and kill them to see if he had become strong enough. A simple demonstration was enough to see that Sasuke had become a very powerful ninja.
Sai and Sasuke
Sasuke met Sai in Orochimaru's lair and demonstrated his newfound mastery of Sharingan with genjutsu. He then went to his room to rest.
While Team Kakashi searched for him, Sai and Naruto separated. Sai finally found Sasuke and captured him but he broke free in an explosion. He found Sakura and Naruto and attacked them. While Kyûbi tried to persuade Naruto to release his power, Sasuke entered Naruto's mind with his Sharingan and pushed Kyûbi's influence away. While he was trying to perform a technique on Team Kakashi, he was stopped by Orochimaru and left with him and Kabuto.
Sanbi
Pursuit of Itachi
Having defeated hundreds of opponents, Sasuke was sitting on a battlefield. Orochimaru pointed out that he had not killed any of them, but Sasuke replied that Itachi was the only one he wanted to kill. Later, Orochimaru's body started to reject him. When Kabuto left his bedside to get some medicine, Sasuke took the opportunity to attack Orochimaru, who knew he was coming, and Sasuke told him that he had nothing more to learn from him. Sasuke told him that he was not as strong as him and that he had no interest in giving up his body or his Sharingan to someone like Orochimaru, who was constantly trying to escape death.
After a brief fight between Sasuke and Orochimaru's true form, Orochimaru locked him in a dimension where the soul transfer was taking place but Sasuke broke free from Orochimaru's grip during the soul transfer ritual and managed to trap the Sannin in his body. Kabuto returned to Orochimaru's room and found that the soul transfer process was over. When Sasuke left the room, Kabuto asked which consciousness was controlling his body. Sasuke used his Sharingan to show Kabuto how he had turned the soul transfer process against Orochimaru, absorbing him into his body. After that, he freed Suigetsu Hôzuki who was a prisoner in Orochimaru's lair and went to look for Karin in the south prison and Jûgo in the north prison. He made a detour to look for the Kubikiribôchô on the tomb of Zabuza in the Land of Waves.
Karin tried to seduce Sasuke and to decide him to abandon Suigetsu and to leave with her while he freed the prisoners of the southern prison. She finally found herself to find a pretext to follow Sasuke.
Arrived at the North Prison, they faced all three prisoners, all carriers of the cursed seal and that they defeated without problem. Jugo attacked Sasuke when he opened the door of his cell and Suigetsu faced Jugo in a fight but were stopped by Sasuke. He named his team Hebi and gave them the objective to find Itachi.
During his search, Sasuke was found by Deidara and Tobi. Using his Sharingan, Sasuke managed to counter most of Deidara's attacks, driving Deidara mad with his pre-existing hatred for the Sharingan, which he said was unable to see his art. In a final attempt, Deidara used C4 to blow up Sasuke including himself. However, Sasuke summoned Manda to protect himself from the explosion, at the cost of the big snake's life. After recovering from his injuries, Sasuke and Hebi were on the trail of another Akatsuki hideout. There, Sasuke found a clone of Itachi's crows, who told him that their final confrontation would take place at the abandoned Uchiwa lair, leaving the rest of Hebi behind, along with Kisame.
The Uchiwa brothers, the moment of truth
The two brothers met again and exchanged blows. Sasuke was finally able to deliver a killing blow and told Itachi that he had some questions to ask him before he died. Itachi warned him that he had only attacked an illusion. Already aware of this, having attacked the illusion with another illusion, Sasuke attacked the other Itachi, repeating that he had questions for him. Knowing that even Itachi could not eliminate the whole clan himself and that Itachi had mentioned another person with the Mangekyô Sharingan, Sasuke asked him who this person was that had helped him kill their family, intending to eliminate him after killing him. Itachi doubted that he could do it, but he revealed that it was Madara Uchiwa, one of the founding fathers of Konoha. But Sasuke didn't believe him, because for everyone and even for him, this Madara was long dead. Itachi reminded him that one could be mistaken by some facts, like the time when Itachi had made Sasuke believe that he was his nice big brother. Furious that he had been patronized with an illusion, Sasuke thwarted the genjutsu to find himself facing the real Itachi. Itachi retorted by telling Sasuke that he did not possess the Mangekyo Sharingan like him. However, Itachi revealed to him that little by little the Mangekyô lost its light until the holder became blind, such is the price to pay to be able to control Kyûbi. At Sasuke's request, Itachi started to reveal who Madara was.
Itachi told Sasuke that Madara was a promising member of the Uchiwa clan. Training withoutcess with his younger brother and both seeking to increase the power of their Sharingan, Madara and his younger brother awakened the Mangekyô Sharingan and were able to take control of the clan, with Madara as their leader. However, due to frequent use of the Mangekyô Sharingan, Madara went blind and was only able to regain his sight by taking his brother's eyes, awakening the Mangekyô Sharingan Eternal. His new dojûtsu allowed him to rally many clans to his cause and to form an alliance with the Senju clan, and it was this alliance that founded Konoha. But following a disagreement about the direction of the village, Madara deserted and attacked Konoha, but was defeated by the First Hokage who was the leader of the Senju clan. He created Akatsuki, in order to be able to maneuver in the shadows, and tried to destroy Konoha by summoning Kyûbi, 16 years ago, but failed because of the Fourth Hokage. Itachi used this as proof that Madara was a shadow of his former self. Intending to surpass Madara, Itachi wanted to take Sasuke's eyes to escape the blindness of the Mangekyô. Having heard what he needed to hear, Sasuke prepared for battle.
Itachi insisted that Sasuke, not having the Mangekyô Sharingan, could never defeat his. Sasuke simply repeated that there is only death for Itachi and attacked him. They both threw shuriken at each other, but Itachi was finally able to dominate the fight. He pinned Sasuke to the wall and gouged out one of his eyes. Sasuke screamed from the pain of losing his left eye. Itachi put the eye he had gouged out into a container and tried to do the same with the right eye. However, Sasuke activated his cursed mark to level 2 to stop him and the scene began to break. Sasuke, with both eyes intact, looked at a suffering Itachi. Zetsu, watching the fight, noticed, to his surprise, that Sasuke had foiled Itachi's Tsukuyomi. Having lost in a genjutsu fight, Itachi prepared to use Amaterasu.
Sasuke attacked Itachi before he had a chance to use Amaterasu. Itachi dodged Sasuke's Fuma Shuriken, only to discover that he had fallen into a trap: the shuriken broke into pieces, a blade stuck in Itachi's leg and Itachi, wounded and suffering from Tsukuyomi's backlash, was forced to retreat to the roof, following several attacks from Sasuke. The two brothers faced off in a Katon - Supreme Fireball duel. When Sasuke's began to dominate Itachi's, Itachi used Amaterasu. Itachi overwhelmed Sasuke's ordinary fire and continued to ignite the area. Despite Sasuke's attempt to escape, the Amaterasu reached him too. When half of Sasuke's body was burned to ashes, Itachi went to retrieve his eyes. He found out that it was only a permutation, Sasuke had used an Orochimaru technique to escape the damage. Sasuke exhausted his last reserves of chakra with the Katon - Supreme Dragon Fire technique, but only the last one reached his brother's arm. Seeing that Itachi was exhausted from using the Mangekyo Sharingan and knowing that both he and Itachi had no chakra left, Sasuke thought that he could perform his last technique.
But Itachi didn't believe him because he knew very well that Sasuke didn't have a drop of chakra left. Although he did not hide that he had no chakra left, Sasuke revealed to Itachi that he had not come unprepared and warned him that his technique was like Amaterasu, impossible to repel. A storm was brewing, Sasuke didn't aim at Itachi with his Katon techniques and took advantage of the heat from Amaterasu to create a storm. By controlling the natural lightning, Sasuke obtained a devastating and inevitable technique: Kirin. Itachi was struck by lightning and the whole area was destroyed. After the clouds dissipated, Sasuke thought he had won. But Itachi corrected him. Furious that his master card had failed, Sasuke activated level two of his Cursed Mark. Itachi admitted that Sasuke had become very strong and that he would have died if he had not played his last card: Susano. This is the last of the techniques that his Mangekyo Sharingan gave him. This surrounded Itachi and protected him from all attacks. Seeing this, Orochimaru offered Sasuke to help him defeat Itachi.
With no chakra left, Orochimaru's Yamata technique emerged from Sasuke's body and attacked Itachi. Susano cut off the snakes' heads, pushing Orochimaru to show himself. He thanked Itachi for pushing Sasuke to the limit and allowing him to escape. He was about to take over Sasuke's body, but was impaled by Susano. When Orochimaru began to be sealed, being one of the attributes of the sword of Susanô, the latter understood that it was the Sword of Totsuka, an immaterial sword, which he had been looking for for a very long time. And Orochimaru was finally sealed away from Sasuke's body, who was finally freed from the Cursed Mark. With Orochimaru gone, Sasuke was left with no option to defeat Itachi. But when Itachi started to approach Sasuke to take his eyes, Itachi started to spit blood and the Susanô started to disappear. Sasuke took the opportunity to send him a projectile with explosive scrolls, but Itachi parried the attack with Susanô just in time. Sasuke shot again, this time with more explosive scrolls, but Itachi was protected by the Yata Mirror, an immaterial shield that protected Itachi from any attack.
With Itachi getting closer and closer, Sasuke desperately made one last attempt to defeat Itachi by attacking him with his Kusanagi Sword, but nothing worked and Sasuke found himself stuck with a wall behind him. However, instead of taking Sasuke's eyes, Itachi hit him on the forehead as he used to do in the past, before collapsing. Itachi then died exhausted from using his Mangekyô Sharingan, Susanô and his illness. Sasuke, unconscious after the fight he had just fought, was then picked up by Tobi.
Sasuke woke up in a cave, treated by Tobi, who introduced himself as Madara Uchiwa. Tobi tried to coax Sasuke by removing his mask, revealing his Sharingan, which caused the Mangekyô Sharingan, bequeathed by Itachi, to appear in Sasuke's left eye and triggered the Amaterasu on Tobi, who immediately retreated into the darkness of the cave. After getting rid of the black flames, Tobi reappeared, thinking about the fact that Itachi had never stopped surprising him. When Sasuke asked what he was talking about, Madara revealed that Itachi had probably made sure that the first time he looked at his Sharingan, the Amaterasu he sealed in Sasuke would be triggered. Sasuke accused him of talking nonsense, so Tobi revealed that this scheme was to protect him, and when Sasuke was skeptical, Tobi conceded that everything he was saying must sound crazy, but assured him that it was the truth, and introduced himself to him as the man who helped Itachi slaughter the entire Uchiwa clan.
Tobi then revealed to Sasuke the "real" Itachi, that he killed his clan on Konoha's orders, how he joined the Akatsuki so that the elders would not forget him, and that in the end, his one and only goal was to preserve the village and his brother. Everything he had done was to make sure that Sasuke would grow up and become strong. Remembering his childhood and the loving brother Itachi, Sasuke developed his own Mangekyô Sharingan. He gave Hebi the new name of Taka and vowed to destroy Konoha after mourning the big brother of his memories.
Search for Hachibi
Before Taka, formerly Hebi, launched an assault on Konoha, Tobi convinced them to work with Akatsuki. He sent them to the Land of Lightning to capture the Eight-Tailed Octopus-Bull Demon, where they managed to find its host, Killer B (the Killer Bee).
The capture attempt didn't start well for Taka, as Killer B beat Suigetsu and Jugo to a pulp, and injured Sasuke by impaling his chest with his eight swords. Karin came to his aid and healed him, then the team decided to lead a group attack. Seeing the effectiveness of this initiative, Killer B released a large amount of Hachibi's chakra and surrounded himself with a chakra shell. While Sasuke failed in his attempt to trap Killer B in a genjutsu (which he easily got rid of), Killer B reacted with considerable force, using Hachibi's power to tear Sasuke's chest and neck apart.
While Sasuke was on the ground, Killer B turned into the beast that was sealed inside him, reaching gigantic proportions. Suigetsu then decided to sacrifice himself in order to give Jugo time to heal Sasuke by merging pieces of his flesh with his own. Fearing that his teammates would be killed, Sasuke unleashed his new Mangekyô Sharingan and the Amaterasu to capture Killer B. Sai later said that as a result of this incident, Sasuke could never be accepted as a citizen of Konoha again.
Sasuke delivered Killer B to Tobi before gathering Taka. Later, when Sasuke spilled a glass of water, he realized that his eyesight was deteriorating. He decided to hide it from the team. While they were resting, they ran into a Kumo ninja who had followed them and killed him.
History of Konoha
Five Kage Summit
Once Taka recovered from their fight with Killer B, they left for Konoha, but were intercepted by Tobi. He informed them about the destruction of Konoha and that the capture of Hachibi was a failure. He also told them about the appointment of Danzo Shimura as Hokage and the Kage summit. Taka was then taken to the Iron Country by the white half of Zetsu.
Taka managed to infiltrate the summit undetected, but their presence was revealed by Zetsu on Tobi's orders. Forced to hide, Sasuke was confronted by the samurai guards and shot them, revealing how far he had sunk into darkness. The Fourth Raikage, who still believed that Sasuke had killed his younger brother Killer, confronted Taka with his escort. The fight was interrupted by Gaara, the Fifth Kazekage and his escort, but by this time the Raikage had already lost an arm and Sasuke was close to exhaustion. After seeing with his own eyes how dark Sasuke was, he continued the fight, but Sasuke used his Susanô to distract him and escaped with Karin, leaving Jûgo and Suigetsu to their fate.
Karin guided Sasuke to the room where the summit took place, but before he could attack Danzo, he was confronted with Mifune. Meanwhile, Danzo managed to escape, but the Fifth Mizukage prevented Sasuke from pursuing him. Sasuke, close to fainting, was revived by Zetsu's spore technique. He escaped the Mizukage, but was confronted by the Third Tsuchikage. He was saved in extremis by Tobi, who sucked him and Karin into her Sharingan, where she restored him somehow.
Tobi brought Sasuke back to the light of day in front of Danzo. Overwhelmed by his desire for revenge, Sasuke sank completely into the darkness and, at the end of the confrontation, while Danzo took Karin hostage, Sasuke unscrupulously inflicted a fatal wound to kill Danzo by piercing her.
His thirst for revenge against Danzo quenched, Sasuke announced his intention to go to Konoha. However, Tobi pointed out to Sasuke that he was exhausted and almost blind. He also advised him to finish off Karin before leaving. As Sasuke was about to kill Karin, he was stopped by the appearance of Sakura. She told him that she wanted to follow him, even if it meant giving up and even participating in the destruction of Konoha. Sasuke, skeptical, forced Sakura to finish with Karin to prove her sincerity. However, when Sakura hesitated, Sasuke was about to kill her, but he was stopped at the last moment by Kakashi. Kakashi tried to persuade him to give up his quest for revenge, but Sasuke just laughed like a madman and said that he was dying to kill him. As Kakashi said that he finally understood how the Third Hokage felt when Orochimaru took the wrong path, Sasuke summarily replied that Kakashi was about to suffer the same fate as Hiruzen.
Sasuke expressed his disgust at Kakashi's use of the Sharingan, declaring that outsiders to the clan were unworthy of this power. He charged, activating his Mangekyo Sharingan, and summoned Susano. Kakashi used kamui to avoid a deadly blow from an arrow shot; Sasuke was surprised at his former master's new ability. Sasuke tried to convince him that there was more than hatred left in his clan, and implored him to look deep inside himself, to which an angry Sasuke replied that people's happiness was gained at Itachi's expense. This anger produced a transformation of Susano into a version similar to Itachi's. Before he could use it, Sasuke's eyesight suddenly became blurred and Susano fell apart. As Sasuke tried to resist his disorder, Sakura rushed behind him to suppress it, before realizing that she was unable to do so. When Sasuke realized the situation, he turned around and grabbed her by the throat, grabbing her kunai. Just as he was about to hit her, Naruto arrived and rescued her, just in time.
Naruto explained that he understood Sasuke's actions very well, to which Sasuke, cynical, replied that he had never felt so much pleasure as in taking revenge by killing Danzo. As Kakashi announced that he wanted to take care of Sasuke alone, Sasuke tried once again to hit him with the Chidori, but Naruto, holding Kakashi back with one of his clones, countered him with the Rasengan. When they collided, Sasuke told Naruto that he should either kill him or die. Naruto replied that he would not choose either of these two alternatives.
The clash between the two ninjas was violent: the white half of Zetsu appeared and broke Sasuke's fall. Tobi then appeared and prepared to take Sasuke away, but Sasuke told Tobi to wait because he wanted to hear what Naruto had to say: the next time they fight, they will both die. Sasuke got angry and asked Naruto why he was so interested in him, to which Naruto answered that he was doing it because he was his friend, leaving Sasuke stunned. Despite this moment of astonishment that went unnoticed, Sasuke firmly declared that he had no intention of going back. Before leaving with Tobi, Sasuke told Tobi that they had to talk. Back at the den, Sasuke asked for Itachi's eyes, after his eyesight had deteriorated after his repeated use of Mangekyo Sharingan against Killer B, the Yondaime Raikage, Danzo Shimura and Team 7. Indeed, he wanted to be in possession of his full powers in order to destroy Naruto. After the transplantation of Itachi's eyes, Sasuke felt Itachi's power inside him. Madara said that it would take some time for Sasuke to recover. Sasuke said that he felt Itachi's power surging inside him.
Confinement of the Jinchuri
Sasuke recovered from his operation. Zetsu informed him that it was not quite time to remove his bandages. He assured him that when he did, he would see a whole new world.
Fourth Great Ninja War
Sasuke was getting impatient in Tobi's den and wanted to go outside to test his eyes. He killed white Zetsu with a sword similar to Totsukatsu but the blade was made of Amaterasu flames. Sasuke removed his bandages and we saw the fusion between the Hypnotic Kaleidoscopes of the Sharingan of the two brothers. Sasuke now possessed the Eien no Mangekyô Sharingan. After a while he wanted to come out of hiding but Zetsu tried to stop him. Sasuke didn't hesitate for a second and pierced Zetsu with his sword of Amaterasu flames. He destroyed the hiding place and fled.
After a very long walk, he was seen with rain and lightning above him showing his desire for revenge in his eyes. Sasuke was found by white Zetsu. The Zetsu decided to attack him, but Sasuke used Susanô and the flames of the Amaterasu to defeat them with ease. He took aside a Zetsu who spoke to him and told him that the jinchûriki were going to win the battle. Sasuke then decided to join Naruto to kill him. Sasuke then felt a presence in the forest in front of him, he drew his sword, entered the forest and saw Itachi...
Sasuke then asked him to stop but Itachi couldn't and he had to stop the Edo Tensei. Sasuke attacked him with his Susanô but Itachi defended himself by using Susanô too. Sasuke then asked his brother why he left him alive but Itachi didn't answer him. He followed his brother to Kabuto. Kabuto said that he never had to worry about this jutsu because it was infallible and warned Itachi that if he killed him, the Edo Tensei would last forever. When Sasuke arrived, he mistook Kabuto for Orochimaru and then realized that it was not him. Kabuto then explained to Sasuke about the war and the summoning of the Edo Tensei and asked him which side he was on. Sasuke then threw his shurikens at Kabuto but Itachi threw his shurikens against Sasuke's to deflect them. Itachi told him that he should not kill him and that he agreed to talk to him, but they should first take care of Kabuto and then Itachi should control him with his moon arcana to cancel the Edo Tensei. Kabuto congratulated him but told him that if it didn't work, they would be in trouble. Itachi replied that the only weakness of Edo Tensei is him.
Sasuke agreed to fight but asked Itachi to keep his promise and Itachi agreed. Kabuto then threw four big snakes at the two brothers but they easily destroyed them with their Susano. Sasuke ran to Kabuto and took off the hood to find him but he found only snakes. The snakes escaped but Sasuke threw his sword on the head of one of them and then said that Kabuto didn't have to be shy and told him that he was just an underling who had taken what he could from Orochimaru. Kabuto told him that he should not be underestimated. Itachi warned Sasuke that he saw chakra everywhere and that he didn't know where Kabuto was. Kabuto then told Sasuke that the ability to liquefy his body came from Suigetsu on whom he had made experiments, that his ability to regenerate came from Karin since she was of the Uzumaki clan since he had the same ability as Jûgo and he congratulated Sasuke for having recruited them.
Kabuto said that he had received the ability of the wise mode by training at Ryuchidô which is a place as famous as Mount Myôboku and that he had trained there under the direction of the wise white snake, even saying that he had finally surpassed Orochimaru.
Sasuke shot an arrow at him but Kabuto avoided it and said that his abilities of perception had increased enormously and that the forces of nature would always be with him. He explained the reason of Jugo's seizures and its origin, Orochimaru couldn't imitate that because he didn't have the body that could bear so much power, so he couldn't become a wise man like Kabuto at that time. Kabuto then rushed towards the two brothers and spat a dragon from his mouth. The dragon coiled up and became light, which made the two brothers stand still, and they covered their ears and closed their eyes. Kabuto then tried to swallow Sasuke who had deactivated Susano but Itachi protected him because he could read Kabuto's game. Kabuto congratulated Itachi for his incredible insight, then asked him if he could feel his chakra but he asked him if it was a lie. Itachi said that he never claimed that but it was because of Nagato. Sasuke then threw his chidori blade at Kabuto but he easily dodged it from above. Kabuto said that although they were fighting together, they didn't really know each other yet. Itachi asked Sasuke if he remembered when he followed him to take care of Inoshishi a few years ago. Sasuke said that he remembered and they prepared to attack Kabuto. Itachi threw his four tomoe of chakra around Kabuto and then Sasuke threw an arrow on Kabuto's tail and then Itachi launched himself on him. Sasuke warned him that Kabuto was going to take his sword to cut off his tail and escape but Kabuto took it and pierced Itachi, who was actually a crow clone, the latter took the sword from him and cut off one of his horns.
Later, Itachi talked about a technique called Izanami, an ultimate dôjutsu of the Uchiwa clan which allowed to determine the destiny, but the person who used it lost a Sharingan, this technique was together with Izanagi. Then Kabuto spoke about his childhood, that he had no family, alone in the world next to a battlefield, he didn't know his name, but he was helped by some villagers that they took him to their home, where Kabuto received his name and learned the life and time. Then Kabuto used the techniques of the Oto quintet (Sakon, Jirôbô, Kidômaru, Kimimaro and then Tayuya) to counter the frontal attacks of the two brothers. When Itachi seemed to be about to use Izanami, Kabuto cut him in half, but Itachi was resurrected by Edo Tensei, so it had no effect on him. So Itachi activated the forbidden Izanami technique and that's when Kabuto was caught in an endless "loop" that he couldn't get out of. Sasuke didn't understand why his brother sacrificed himself once again to protect Konoha, Sasuke said that it was the only way he could stop the technique and support Naruto after what he had told him.
Tachi opened one of Kabuto's eyes so that he could use a genjutsu from his Sharingan on it to find the signs needed to end the Edo Tensei so that Kabuto could perform them and free all the resurrected ninjas under his control. Sasuke told his brother that he had enjoyed fighting with him and that it reminded him of his childhood, but that he had an even greater hatred towards Konoha. Once the signs were made, he managed to remove the hold of the Edo Tensei and freed the departed souls once and for all, except for Madara who managed to free himself from the contract binding him to Kabuto and allowing him to escape the annulment, while his consciousness began to disappear. He used his Sharingan to show Sasuke the truth from his memory and announced before he disappeared that whatever he did, he would love him forever. After he disappeared Sasuke didn't say another word.
While Sasuke was wondering, Suigetsu and Jûgo found him and revealed that Madara was still fighting on the battlefield. Suigetsu gave him the scroll found in Orochimaru's lair, revealing that with this, Taka could dominate the shinobi world. Sasuke then wished to meet Orochimaru, believing that he was still alive, while staring at Anko's cursed seal. He made a jutsu that freed Orochimaru from Anko's mark. He said that he wanted to talk to the one who really knew everything and teamed up with Orochimaru, Jûgo and Suigetsu.
Birth of Jûbi's Jinchûriki
Orochimaru took Sasuke, Suigetsu and Jugo in front of a ruined temple away from the village, where a spiral decorates the pediment. Then, they entered inside, where they discovered a wall where are arranged masks of Shinigami. Orochimaru chose one of them and indicated that they should now go to the place where all the secrets would be revealed.
They walked back into the village which seemed to be asleep, Sasuke perched on a building and meditated on the view that was offered to him just like Naruto had done once, after two years of absence. Then the group headed towards the ruins of the Naka Temple, Sasuke lifted the imposing stone slab decorated with a Sharingan that protected the underground staircase that led to the room where the Uchiwa stele was placed. Once inside the room, Orochimaru grabbed the Shinigami mask, which allowed him to summon the God of Death, as it was indicated on the scroll found by Suigetsu. Orochimaru cut open his stomach with a dagger so that the god of death could do the same and break the seal which allowed him to release the sealed part of his chakra and regain the use of his arms.
While recovering his chakra from Kabuto's body, Orochimaru realized that Sasuke was parasitized by six White Zetsu. Thanks to his cursed mark, Jugo was able to extract them, because they were necessary to be able to use the Edo Tensei. After having sacrificed four of the Zetsu for the Edo Tensei, Orochimaru took possession of another Zetsu in order to be able to survive the mortal wound that he had inflicted on himself. And the souls that were summoned in this way were none other than those of the first four Hokage. The ones who knew everything and were now standing in front of Sasuke were Hashirama Senju, Tobirama Senju, Hiruzen Sarutobi and Minato Namikaze.
Orochimaru then said that the main reason the Hokage were there was to answer the questions of a young shinobi. Sasuke introduced himself and asked Hiruzen if he had ordered Itachi to slaughter the clan. Hiruzen explained to him that Itachi was a young boy with a lot of foresight who had found out a lot about his clan and also that he was very worried about the future of the shinobi and the village. Even at the age of seven, he had a reasoning worthy of a Kage. He inspired confidence and carried out every mission successfully. So he eliminated the clan and joined the Akatsuki as a spy to protect the village, with the only condition that Hiruzen protect Sasuke. This gave confirmation to Sasuke about what he already knew.
Tobirama was not surprised that the clan could have had such a bad destiny and that it had gone as far as the coup d'état. He said that there were rebellious elements in the clan ready to follow Madara's will. Orochimaru pointed out that it was he who had relegated the clan to the background by giving them the village police. Moreover, this function had a perverse effect on their state of mind and the fact that they were spatially segregated from the village had not helped. Tobirama justified this by saying that he distrusted Madara and knew that the clan was cursed. Sasuke then asked him what the Uchiwa clan was and what he knew.
Tobirama explained to him why the clan was cursed. Revealing that when an Uchiwa lost a loved one, a chakra transformed the love into an even stronger hatred, affecting the optic nerves to give birth to the Sharingan and changing the personality to become a darker person. And that the more hatred and despair an Uchiwa felt, the stronger the power of his Sharingan became and the darker his personality became. A potential that Tobirama had tried to exploit for the good of the village.
Hashirama scolded his brother for speaking like this in front of a still "pure" Uchiwa child, but Sasuke revealed his Mangekyô Sharingan and said that he was no longer a child and that he was not pure either. Then Sasuke asked Hashirama what a village and a ninja were, and Hashirama started to explain the concept of shinobi and his first meeting with Madara Uchiwa.
After Hashirama's story, he understood that shinobi were people who survive to achieve their goal. Hashirama said that he didn't understand very well when Orochimaru said that Madara had come back to life and that he was trying to erase the shinobi from this world. Sasuke explained to him the Infinite Tsukuyomi and that the shinobi, the countries and the people would be under the influence of the genjustu. Then he said that Itachi was the one who possessed the will of Hashirama and that he had endured more than Hashirama. Sasuke made his decision, he said that he would go to the battlefield and that he would not let the village and Itachi be defiled. Then he went to the Hokage monument.
When he reached the battlefield, Sasuke made a grand entrance and expressed his wishes: to protect the village and become Hokage. The astonishment was general. Only Naruto kept a serious face. Reinforced by Sakura, Naruto joined Sasuke to resume the fight and asked his teammate to stay back, but she refused to let her comrades fight alone and Team 7 was reformed again. Jubi's clones appeared, Sasuke and Naruto had a hard time to get rid of them, so Sakura created the same Yin Seal on her forehead as Tsunade and attacked them. Her phenomenal power surprised Naruto and it brought her even closer to her companions in power. After having succeeded in defeating the clones of Jûbi with the help of Sakura, Sasuke and Naruto faced Obito transformed into Rikudô with a Shakujô in his hand.
Later, Obito was defeated by Naruto and the members of the Shinobi Alliance by managing to extract Jûbi from his body but the latter survived the extraction.
Disappointed by Obito's failure, Madara sent Zetsu Noir to control his ally's body. Tobirama, who had fought Madara before but was defeated by him, gave his power to Sasuke. Sasuke then started to fight against Madara but Madara pierced his heart and used the Kusanagi sword against him. Sasuke, in agony, tried to survive as best he could, refusing to die, but he lost consciousness after losing a lot of blood. Karin decided to go to Sasuke with Suigetsu, Jûgo and Orochimaru, because she had a strange feeling. Kabuto, having managed to get out of the Izanami technique that Itachi had thrown at him, appeared and having understood his mistake, gave life to Sasuke. When Sasuke was unconscious, he learned that he was the reincarnation of Indra, the eldest son of Hagoromo Ôtsutsuki. When he woke up, he went to fight Madara, a crescent moon having appeared on the palm of his left hand. When he arrived on the battlefield, he had a Rinnegan on his left eye, looking like Jubi's eye, and he was about to fight Madara with Naruto.
As Madara attacked both of them at the same time, Sasuke used his Rinnegan to teleport to safety. He watched Naruto's counterattack and realized that Madara could create an invisible shadow of himself that only he could see but Naruto could feel. He also understood that the shadow could be injured by the chakra of the Rikudô Sennin, that it had to return to its original body after a while and that he could not use his technique for a while. He managed to block Madara with the help of Naruto but Naruto substituted himself with his shadow to escape his sealing before rushing to Kakashi and stealing his Sharingan which he placed in his left eye socket. Sasuke managed to cut him in half but he managed to teleport to the other dimension. Sakura returned to the world and revealed that Obito lacked strength and that Madara was going to return with his two Rinnegan. While the former members of Team 7 were talking, Kakashi asked Sasuke what his dream was now but he didn't answer.
Madara reappeared with Black Zetsu controlling Obito's body. As Sakura went on the offensive, with Sasuke right behind, they were pushed back by Madara's shadows, now four in number. Madara flew up and used Chibaku Tensei to form many meteorites while his shadows attacked head on. Sasuke used his Susano to fly up and destroy the meteors while Madara's third eye opened on his forehead to activate the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
Kaguya Ôtsutsuki Attack
Team 7, protected by Sasuke's Susanô, analyzed the situation and Kakashi decided that Sasuke would be the leader since he had the most information. Once the spell was dispelled, they dispelled the Susanô. Zetsu Black faced them and then Madara but Zetsu Black betrayed and merged with him making Kaguya Ôtsutsuki appear before them.
Then began a fight of Team 7 and Obito against Kaguya during which Obito lost his life. Naruto and Sasuke combined their efforts to try to seal Kaguya. During a Kakashi's Slashing Lightning that Kaguya dodged with ease, Naruto and Sasuke tried to seal Kaguya who tried to dodge. Sakura came up and hit her, Sasuke and Naruto then managed to reach her.
When the fight was won and the war was over, Sasuke strangely changed his behavior by declaring that he wanted to eliminate the five Kage in order to establish a revolution, locked the nine tailed demons in blocks of rock using the same technique as Nagato: Birth of the Divine Star, and challenged Naruto to a single combat. Sakura tried to reason with him, but Sasuke told her that he found her boring and put her in a genjutsu using his Rinnegan, saying that he was not interested in her and did not understand what she liked about him. Sasuke asked Naruto to follow him to the Valley at the End so that they could start their fight but before that, he wanted to explain to him what "Hokage" really meant to him. It was about bearing the weight of the world's hatred by being alone in the shadows just like Itachi had done during his life and told Naruto that he was going to erase the past and start anew by first killing Naruto and getting rid of the ties that bound them together, then killing the five current Kage and the tailed demons.
The fight started with taijutsu between the two ninjas, even if Naruto was defending himself well in his usual form, Sasuke had the advantage thanks to the Sharingan and the Rinnegan combined and this in spite of Naruto's clones who attacked him with several Whirling Orbs. Sasuke then showed an incredible mastery of his new powers with the Enton - Lightning Flames technique which eliminated Naruto's clones, this one called upon Hagoromo's chakra to manage to stand up to Sasuke. Sasuke then used a Katon technique to distract Naruto and used the power of his Rinnegan to teleport behind Naruto and used the Thousand Birds to propel him into the lake. Sasuke then used the Susanô, Naruto then transformed into Kurama to contain the Susanô of his rival.
Naruto exchanged blows of incredible power, Sasuke pushed Kurama back and then used several Katon techniques with the Susanô that Naruto managed to dodge. Naruto managed to knock down Sasuke and his Susanô. But Sasuke thanks to the Katon techniques he had used was able to use Kirin on Naruto. Kyubi's host remained unharmed after receiving the blow of this technique and still faced Sasuke. He then used a Tailed Demon Orb which collided directly with the Thousand Birds of Susano. Naruto and Sasuke talked and Sasuke confirmed to Naruto that he was going to kill him and that he would control the world and that he had gained immortality through the Rinnegan and was about to use the Tailed Demon Chakra to strengthen his Susanô.
Sasuke amplified his Susanô with the chakra of the Tailed Demons and put Naruto and his clones in trouble for a short time but Kurama accumulated a lot of natural energy which he sent to Naruto who merged with his clones and formed a three-headed, six-armed Tailed Demon to create a Fûton - Giant Shuriken Orb combined with a Shuriken Orb of the Tailed Demons, while Sasuke created a bow with an arrow by infusing Raiton chakra. The shock was very powerful and created a huge cataclysm destroying the stone faces of Hashirama and Madara.
The two ninjas fell to the ground out of chakra and Sasuke could not use his Rinnegan anymore. They used their taijutsu to conclude and the fight lasted until sunset. Kurama transferred chakra to Naruto but Sasuke absorbed it with his Rinnegan, so he threw a Thousand Birds at Naruto saying goodbye but his Sharingan deactivated and Naruto sent him against the wall and hit him. Sasuke retorted several times that Naruto should disappear but because he was his friend Naruto retorted to Sasuke that he would not get rid of him because he was his only friend.
Sasuke prepared the Thousand Birds which he combined with his black flames. Naruto talked with Kurama who gave him his own chakra and then went into a deep sleep, he then told Naruto that this one was special for him and the tiger demons and was sure that Sasuke thought the same. Naruto, determined to end it too, prepared his ultimate Swirling Orb with Kurama's chakra and the collision between the two attacks completely destroyed the statues of their predecessors.
They both had their arms cut off. Sakura intervened and healed them both. They then dispelled the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Later, before Sasuke left, Naruto gave him back his renegade headband.
Several months later, Sasuke was forgiven for his crimes, thanks to Naruto's influence and the fact that Kakashi had become Hokage. Sasuke was planning to leave Konoha to travel the world, curious to see how much his world view had changed. Sakura offered to come with him, but he refused, explaining that his journey was also one of redemption and that she had no part in it. He gave her a little pat on the forehead and thanked her. While leaving the village he met Naruto, who gave him back his headband.
Off-peak period
Several months later, Sasuke was pardoned for his crimes thanks to the services he had rendered in helping to cancel the Infinite Tsukuyomi, as well as thanks to the insistence of Naruto and Kakashi, respectively world hero and new Hokage. When he was offered a fully functioning prosthetic arm made from Hashirama Senju's cells to replace the one he had lost, Sasuke declined the offer because it would take months. Instead, he decided to leave Konoha immediately and wander the world, curious to see how different the world would seem to him now that his outlook had changed. Sakura offered to go with him, but he refused, explaining that his journey was also a journey of redemption and that she had no part in it. He then touched her forehead, promising that he would see her when he returned and thanked her. As he was leaving the village, he was joined by Naruto, who gave him back his headband. Sasuke accepted the headband and thanked Naruto for teaching him the true meaning of being a shinobi. On his travels, Sasuke would often help the Big Five Ninja Countries when something was trying to disturb the peace, and although he often did so unseen, he often left subtle clues that he was responsible.
The Last: Naruto the movie
Two years after the war, Sasuke met Hiashi Hyuga on his way, who fell unconscious in front of him. He returned to Konoha and, where he was, discovered a series of meteors from the Moon bombing the village. When a particularly large meteor was heading for the village's defenses, Sasuke quickly destroyed it. Sasuke then disappeared, staying just long enough to inform Kakashi that only he was able to protect the village when Naruto was away. During Naruto and Hinata's wedding, Sasuke continued his journey in the desert.
Sakura Hiden - Feelings of love carried away by a spring breeze
Rumors began to spread that someone matching Sasuke's description was conspiring to destroy Konoha. Konoha sent several messages to Sasuke to try to confirm or deny the rumors, but he didn't respond to any of them. Naruto found the rumors too ridiculous to pay attention to. However, when one of the messages mentioned that Sakura was captured, he immediately returned to the village. Sakura managed to get rid of most of her captors on her own, but Sasuke finished off the other few. Then he left without even saying hello to his friends. At the end of the novel, it was suggested that Sasuke returned to the village to be with Sakura when he said "I'm home, Sakura".
Konoha Hiden - A perfect day for a wedding
On the day of Naruto and Hinata Hyuga's wedding, Sasuke sent a message of congratulations with a falcon to their wedding reception, which Sakura retrieved.
Akatsuki Hiden - The blossoming of the flowers of evil
During his journey, Sasuke met two boys who told him stories about the Akatsuki. After leaving them, he met another boy who mistook him for Itachi, whom the boy had met several years before. He told Sasuke that Itachi was a very good person, which Sasuke agreed with before leaving once more.
Sasuke Shinden - Sunrise Book
As Sasuke began to investigate Kaguya Ôtsutsuki during his journey of redemption, he was forced to examine his former role as an avenger and how that past would affect his future. During his journey, he received a message from Kakashi about the disappearances of the shinobi from Konoha, Kumo and Kiri and Sasuke agreed to investigate. On his way to the Land of Lightning, Sasuke arrived at Bamboo Village in the Land of Hot Springs and learned from the villagers about a group of delinquent ninjas called the Anrai Gang, whose leader, Karyu, admired Sasuke but wanted to kill him in order to outdo him. In the village, he met two wandering shinobi, Chino and Nowaki.
Sasuke found the group that was attacking the village and defeated them, saving all the villagers. Karyu admitted that he admired Sasuke since Sasuke attacked the Five Kage Summit, much to Sasuke's dismay as Karyu tarnished his name. Before he could give Karyu back to Konoha, he was killed by the father of one of his victims. When the genjutsu failed to dissipate after Karyu's death, Sasuke suspected that the real culprit was on the loose. Sasuke later met with Orochimaru and his former comrades from Taka to investigate further.
Sasuke kept in touch with Sai when Konoha was attacked and discovered the origins of the Anrai Gang. He found most of the missing shinobi from Kiri and Kumo on a remote island and luckily discovered that Chino and Nowaki were in fact responsible for the disappearances. After their escape, Sasuke returned the shinobi to their villages and, on the advice of the Raikage, went to Yuga, where he found and confronted Chino. She revealed that she was seeking revenge because she was from a clan that was eliminated because her village feared her Ketsuryugan and she held the Uchiwa clan partly responsible. As Sasuke understood her pain and hatred, he defeated them without seriously hurting them and convinced them to accept defeat. Sasuke deposited them in the village prison, but defended them to be forgiven.
After resuming his journey, Sasuke received a letter from Naruto which mentioned that Sakura compared his efforts to protect the village to his childhood dream of joining the Konoha Military Police. Sasuke decided that his home was with Sakura and made the decision to return to Konoha, where he was welcomed by Sakura.
New Era
Two years after saving Konoha from a meteorite, Sasuke traveled with his pregnant wife Sakura, who refused to leave him. During the trip, Karin helped to give birth to their child, Sarada Uchiwa, in one of Orochimaru's lairs. Afterwards, Sasuke raised his daughter for a while, but he left Konoha soon after, leaving Sarada with few memories of him.
Years later, when Naruto became Hokage, Sasuke investigated Kaguya in his sand dimension. In the course of his investigation, Sasuke came to suspect that she had created the White Zetsu Army to deal with a greater threat. He returned to Konoha, where he told his wife and the five Kage present at the summit about his hypothesis. Not wanting to cause panic, the Kage agreed to keep this to themselves for the time being.wishing to preserve the future of his daughter and the new generation, Sasuke continued his wanderings trying to find more information, using his Rinnegan to inspect other dimensions.
Start at the Ninja Academy
In the anime, after one last member of the Root failed to destroy the village, Naruto brought the research of Gozu Tennô to Sasuke. Realizing the true nature behind it, Sasuke was amazed at how close Danzo came to replicating Kaguya's technique. After noting that it would help him in his investigation, Naruto suggested to Sasuke that he return to the village for a while. However, Sasuke asked Naruto to apologize to Sakura for his prolonged absence before leaving.
Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring
Searching the dimensions of Kaguya, Sasuke returned to earth through his portal. Upon reaching a forest, both of his dojutsu weakened from overuse and soon after, Sasuke was attacked by a hooded figure. Pushing it away, Sasuke discovered that the assailant was a young boy with a Sharingan and whose clothes had the Uchiwa symbol on them. As he asked who the boy was, the boy retreated, prompting Sasuke to send a message by falcon to Naruto informing him of the encounter and asking him to meet him at the Pass Tower.
After waiting for some time, he was found by Sarada, who had left Konoha to find her father. Seeing her with the Sharingan and the symbol of the Uchiwa clan on her back, Sasuke suspected that she was related to the boy and almost attacked him until she called him dad and he realized that she was his own daughter. When Naruto arrived soon after, Sasuke scolded him for bringing children like Sarada and Chôchô Akimichi. Sarada defended Naruto, insisting that she had followed him against his will because she wanted to meet Sasuke and wanted to know where he had been all these years, if Sakura was his real mother and who was the girl in the photo of the Taka members. He ignored her questions and told her that his actions had nothing to do with her, which made her leave crying.
When Sasuke sensed that Naruto and Sarada were being attacked by Shin Uchiwa - the "father" of the boy from before - Sasuke rushed to assist. He repelled Shin's projectiles and, when Shin grabbed his sword, he hit him with a large fireball and took the sword back. However, this brief contact allowed Shin to control the sword from a distance with his Mangekyo Sharingan, which he used when he had an opening to stab Naruto. Shin turned his attention to Sarada and Sasuke rushed to protect his daughter from Shin's attack and all the blades landed on him. Sakura then appeared and neutralized Shin with a punch. She apologized to her husband for not being clear with their daughter about her mission, but Sasuke insisted that he was also at fault before one of Shin's creatures teleported him and Sakura. Unable to locate them, Sasuke believed that Orochimaru knew where Shin was and, learning that Shin was targeting Sarada, he decided to take her with them to protect her.
When they arrived, Sasuke promised retaliation against Orochimaru if he was in any way involved in the attack on his daughter or the kidnapping of his wife. But Orochimaru denied any responsibility, admitting that Shin was an old experiment that he had long since lost control of, and claimed that Shin's "sons" were in fact his genetic clones. To help them deal with Shin, Orochimaru offered some suggestions on where they could find him. When Orochimaru was convinced that Sakura was already dead, Sasuke denied this possibility because she was not a weak woman, saying that she would probably have finished Shin by the time they found her. When his Rinnegan recharged from his previous dimensional travels, Sasuke summoned his Susanô and carried Naruto, Sarada and Chôchô to Shin's hideout. As Sasuke guessed, Sakura was in the middle of a fight when they arrived and Sasuke used his Susanô to hit the larger clone while he picked Sakura up. He removed the scalpels from her arm and burned them with Amaterasu before asking her if she could heal herself. Sasuke and the others fought Shin, who was stabbed by his own clones who then turned on Sasuke and Naruto. When the Sharingan Spy Creature tried to teleport Shin again, Sasuke called Sarada to warn her, and she killed the creature before activating her Sharingan and using her Chakra Enhanced Strength to defeat some of the clones, which made Sasuke smile with pride. At the end of the battle, Sasuke noticed that Naruto was too gentle to have decided not to harm the clones if they surrendered, but agreed to drop them off at the Konoha Orphanage. When Sarada learned that Sakura was really her biological mother, she asked her father if he really felt connected to Sakura. He answered in the affirmative because Sarada, their daughter, was the proof of their bond, which moved Sarada to tears.
Sasuke spent some time with his family in Konoha, even posing for their first family photo. After a while, Sasuke was about to leave and hugged his daughter as she sadly asked him when he would return. Sasuke told her not to make that face and patted her forehead with his fingers promising to come back soon, which made her very happy and made her smile at her mother. Sakura then gave him a bag of snacks and hoped for a kiss in return, but he left without any further comment, just smiling amusedly as he walked away.
Naruto Shinden: Family Day
As Sasuke finished his work in a village near Konoha, he decided to go home to visit his family. There, he learned from Boruto about a new party in the village, where parents and children spent the day together. Having learned where Sarada was, Sasuke decided to spend the day with his daughter. While Sarada was thrilled with the idea, the normally quiet man had trouble communicating with his daughter, trying to find inspiration wherever he could, but only embarrassing his daughter. Finally, Sarada had enough and left. Sasuke was then approached by Sakura, he told her about his problem with the closeness he had with their daughter.
Sakura pointed out that having spent much of her life apart and having only heard stories about Sasuke and his various exploits, Sarada was probably disappointed in the person her father was and his attempts to be a caring father seemed forced. Eventually, Sakura suggested that he get closer to Sarada as he did with his father and brother at the time by enjoying their time together and talking about their goals. Later, while she was working on her shuriken skills, Sasuke approached her again, applauding her for her goal of becoming Hokage. He insisted that she would make a better Hokage than him and that he would support her in her struggle, much to his delight. At the end of the day, she and Sasuke returned home where the entire Uchiwa family enjoyed a hearty meal.
Fight against Momoshiki
As Sasuke continued his investigation, he found the remains of a larger crop of White Zetsu in the Mountain Cemetery, which he set out to destroy with Amaterasu. Upon arriving in Kaguya's ice dimension, Sasuke found a scroll in Kaguya's palace. There, he was attacked by Kinshiki and Momoshiki Ôtsutsuki and, although he was able to fight the former on equal terms, he realized that he couldn't fight them both at the same time. Using his Rinnegan's abilities, he was finally able to escape. Unable to read the scroll with his Rinnegan, Sasuke took it back to Konoha to have it deciphered. He stopped at Naruto's house to give it to him, but he was attacked by Naruto's son, Boruto Uzumaki, thinking that it was his father who was going home. Sasuke easily blocked the attack and asked him where Naruto was. Hinata, Naruto's wife, told him that her husband was still in the Hokage office.
When he found Naruto, Sasuke noticed that Boruto looked a lot like him. Naruto disagreed, thinking that he had more in common with Sasuke, but then retracted his statement and said that his son did not look like him either. Naruto thought that they were behind the new generation, which Sasuke disputed because the nature of the shinobi would never change and they made a bet on that point. As Sasuke left to join his family, Boruto attacked him by surprise but Sasuke once again avoided him effortlessly and knocked Boruto down. Impressed, Boruto asked Sasuke to train him, having heard that the ninja was the only one of equal strength to his father and therefore the most qualified to help him become stronger than him. Sasuke told Boruto to ask him again when he learned how to use the Rasengan. Boruto complied and gave a demonstration after he was able to train him. Upon seeing him, Sasuke noticed that Boruto's Rasengan was quite small, which Boruto mistakenly thought meant that the ninja had rejected it, causing him to run away. Sarada then appeared in front of his father and pointed out that he was too hard on Boruto, saying that she had rarely seen him put so much effort into anything. Sasuke replied that Boruto had misunderstood his intentions and that he would accept him as a student. In truth, Sasuke was quite satisfied, impressed by the Raiton that Boruto had infused into his Rasengan. The next day, Boruto demonstrated a normal sized Rasengan, but Sasuke understood that the boy had used the Shinobi Gauntlet and Boruto tried to cover it up by boasting that his exceptional skill was the reason for the remarkable progress of his Rasengan, but Sasuke told him that he was willing to cheat to achieve his goal by saying that Boruto was very different from his father and that he hoped he wasn't. Nevertheless, he agreed to train Boruto since he had already fulfilled his requirements. He then spoke to Konohamaru Sarutobi, Boruto's master, who agreed to let Sasuke take charge of his training.
After his day of training with Sasuke, the two sat down by a fire and talked. Boruto started to ask about his father's weaknesses and Sasuke explained that Naruto had many weaknesses, which he had overcome and that was what had allowed him to become Hokage. Feeling that Boruto's approach was incorrect, Sasuke explained to him that Naruto could be better understood by the trials he had overcome in his life rather than by the flaws he might still have. This did not satisfy Boruto, so he started training for the next Chûnin Examinations, with shurikenjutsu being on the list. During the training, Boruto had trouble applying effect to his throws, complaining that shurikenjutsu was Sarada's specialty because she was Sasuke's daughter. Sasuke replied by applying the same reasoning to Boruto by performing Multi Cloning, Naruto's specialty, of which Boruto could only create two clones unlike his father, who could create thousands. Sasuke kept an eye on the progress of the deciphering of the scroll, but it was only on the day of the final of the Chûnin Examinations that it was finally finished. Reading the content, Sasuke saw his suspicions about the threat that Kaguya was preparing confirmed and rushed to inform Naruto. When he arrived at the stadium where the finals were taking place, Kinshiki and Momoshiki were already attacking. Sasuke saved Sarada from falling debris but was confronted by Kinshiki as he tried to pull her to safety. Shikamaru Nara briefly restrained Kinshiki and Momoshiki, allowing Sasuke to tell Naruto what the scroll contained, that Kinshiki and Momoshiki were harvesting chakra from the planets in order to prolong their lives and that Kaguya was building an army of White Zetsu to prepare for their invasion.
Momoshiki attacked them, so Naruto entered Biju Mode enveloping Boruto and Sarada in order to protect them, Sasuke added his Susanô as an additional protection. But the shield was not enough against Momoshiki, so Naruto asked Sasuke to concentrate on protecting the children while he fought Momoshiki alone. Sasuke complied, staying with the children and thus preventing him from capturing Naruto. With his father gone, Boruto felt guilty about the way he had treated Naruto and regretted being so uncool. Hearing this, Sasuke confirmed Boruto's words and noted that without his mother and sister, he would be in the same position as Naruto in the past. After Boruto asked Sasuke how his father overcame his trials, Sasuke suggested Boruto to ask his father himself and also told him that Naruto had always been stronger than him until now and invited Boruto to join him to save him. Boruto then asked him why he suggested it and why he agreed to train him in the first place, Sasuke explained that he was an exceptionally gifted shinobi and had the potential to surpass Naruto because he hated losing. The five Kage then showed up and offered their help to save Naruto, adding that they were on good terms with Sasuke. But before leaving, Sasuke lent his headband to Boruto, since Naruto had confiscated his for cheating at the Chûnin Examinations.
Sasuke used his Rinnegan to open a portal to Momoshiki's Planet and before they left, Hinata tried to stop Boruto from leaving, but Boruto then put on Sasuke's blindfold and confidently said that he was going to save his father, which made Hinata remember the resemblance he had with his father when he was young. Sasuke agreed and noticed that Boruto was finally starting to act like a real shinobi. When they arrived at the planet of Momoshiki, whose chakra was harvested long ago, the group freed Naruto from Momoshiki and Kinshiki, who had tied him to a tree resembling the Divine Tree, and immediately began to fight them. Sasuke helped the Sixth Mizukage and the Fourth Tsuchikage to subdue Kinshiki, then joined Naruto, the Fifth Kazekage and the Fifth Raikage against Momoshiki. He warned them not to use ninjutsu because Momoshiki could absorb them. Kinshiki freed himself and pushed them back, then allowed Momoshiki to absorb him to become stronger. Naruto and Sasuke started to fight Momoshiki with taijutsu, in which Sasuke was severely burned. Naruto caught him and healed his wounds with Kurama's chakra, which allowed them to combine their Biju Mode and Susano to defeat him. With Momoshiki down, Katasuke tried to finish him off. This unintentionally revived Momoshiki, giving him a chance to paralyze Naruto and the Kage with Shadow Manipulation while Sasuke protected Boruto.
Sasuke suggested that Boruto attack Momoshiki with his Rasengan, imbuing it with Raiton to catch him off guard. This worked and the Kage were freed, but an injury suffered earlier prevented Naruto from fighting. He added his chakra to Boruto's Rasengan, and then Sasuke helped to find an opening to destroy Momoshiki with. After the battle, Sasuke told Naruto that he had won their bet and they returned to Konoha, then Sasuke posed for a picture with Naruto, Boruto and the other Kage. However, in the anime, before they left the other dimension, Sasuke managed to catch a glimpse of Boruto's conversation with Momoshiki's mind through his Rinnegan and noticed that a technique was used to stop time and the conversation was not known to the others. After everything was back to normal, except for the worry about the third enemy of the Ôtsutsuki clan who escaped, Sasuke met Boruto again. He revealed to him that he knew about the mark Momoshiki had put on him, insisting that Boruto let him know if anything came of it. He also let Boruto keep his old headband, as an acknowledgement that he was now Sasuke's official student. Sasuke decided to take advantage of the research he was doing to spend a few days with his family. Later, Sasuke and Sakura, both smiling, watched Sarada and his teammates leave on a mission. Soon after, Sasuke returned to his investigation of the Ôtsutsuki.
In the anime, Sasuke returned to the village to give information to Naruto and told him not to promote Sarada to chûnin because of his refusal to obey direct orders.
Ichibi's escort
In the anime, after informing Suna that the Ôtsutsuki were looking for Shukaku, Sasuke along with Gaara, Kankuro and a team of genin from Suna gathered at the location of the biju. Sasuke sent a messenger falcon to inform Konoha of the location and that he might be on the trail of Urashiki Ôtsutsuki. There, Sasuke and Gaara fought Urashiki and his puppets. As the two sides fought evenly, Boruto suddenly appeared, urging Sasuke to protect his student, which led to Sasuke being distracted and Urashiki taking some of his chakra. As Sasuke moved towards his opponent, Urashiki teleported him to another dimension.
He finally arrived in Kaguya's ice dimension. Although he was unharmed, he was very exhausted by his fight. Sasuke was forced to spend time recovering his chakra to return to Suna, as his Rinnegan was too weak to maintain a portal. Once he had recovered enough chakra, he detected Urashiki's repeated dimensional jumps and teleported back in time to stop the enemy from hitting Boruto and Shinki. Sasuke's return prompted Urashiki to retreat. Sasuke took the genin to Konoha for treatment and reported the events to Naruto. There, it was decided that Shukaku would remain under Naruto's protection until better precautions were taken.
Time jump
In the anime, while Sasuke was enjoying some free time in the village, he was approached by Boruto who asked him about Jiraya's worth as a ninja and his relationship with Naruto. Sasuke admitted that Jiraya was a remarkable man, whose influence and guidance strongly shaped Naruto into the remarkable man he became, even noting that they shared a father-son relationship. When Boruto asked Sasuke if he could get him an Icha Icha book to learn more about the man, Sasuke flatly refused, knowing that Boruto was too young to read a book for adults. Later, Sasuke heard from Naruto and Shikamaru that Urashiki was on the move again and was stealing even more chakra.
Later, when Boruto was upset that he was the only genin who was left out of the mission to track down Urashiki because of the Ôtsutsuki's previous vendetta against Boruto. However, Sasuke proposed an alternative plan to form a team of two with Boruto while staying in the village, which Naruto accepted. Later that night, Urashiki was spotted and most of the Konoha ninjas went looking for him. Sasuke doubted that things were working out so well though, especially after learning that Mirai Sarutobi, a genjutsu specialist, disappeared knowing about Urashiki's ability to reproduce people's techniques from their chakra. Boruto doubted that Urashiki would go after his father, as he was still well guarded.
He then realized that Urashiki's real motive was an artifact found by Konoha's archaeological research team. His hunch was confirmed when he and Sasuke engaged Urashiki in combat. The artifact turned out to be a turtle belonging to the Ôtsutsuki, named Karasuki, which required enough chakra to function. Urashiki activated it while Boruto and Sasuke followed him. They entered an empty place where they fought, making Urashiki fall from a ledge, which was too soon for him. When Karasuki finished his operation, Boruto and Sasuke found themselves in Konoha. But to their surprise, they realized that they had been sent back in time.
Realizing that Urashiki's plan was to acquire Kurama's chakra from Naruto's body as a child, Sasuke asked Karasuki about the enemy. The turtle explained to him that because of Sasuke's intervention, Urashiki would not arrive in this period for a few days. She also warned Sasuke and Boruto to avoid interacting with the past as much as possible, otherwise there would be serious changes in the timeline they knew. Sasuke and Boruto then disguised themselves and Boruto discovered how different the village was.
Soon after, Boruto and Sasuke ran into Naruto and Jiraya, who were in trouble for spying on women in an onsen. Jiraya handed his binoculars to Boruto, trying to trick him, but the problem was quickly solved when Tsunade arrived and scolded Naruto and Jiraya for their actions. Tsunade asked Boruto and Sasuke about their arrival, and Sasuke said that they were traveling artists who used ninjutsu during their performances. Still somewhat suspicious, Tsunade ordered Naruto and Jiraya to keep an eye on Boruto and Sasuke, mentioning that a genin had recently deserted the village and that Konoha was still recovering from an attack during the Chûnin Examinations, they had to be on their guard at all times and could not afford to let outsiders enter their village. However, as soon as Tsunade left, Jiraya let Naruto take care of Boruto and Sasuke, much to the boy's displeasure.
As they were walking around the village, they came across Sakura and as Naruto approached her, Sasuke left the area, warning Boruto that as Sakura was his current wife, there was a possibility that she would recognize him and this would drastically change the future, he asked Boruto to stay by Naruto's side at all times before leaving. A few days later, Sasuke came across Sakura again, dropping an old letter from Sarada in the process. Boruto eventually questioned Sasuke about his past, having understood the truth about his younger self's absence. Still ashamed of his past mistakes, Sasuke simply admitted that at the time, he saw no other way to accomplish his goal of revenge. When Boruto suggested that he find his past self to reason with him, Sasuke replied that he could not take such a risk. The next day, Urashiki finally appeared, urging Sasuke and Boruto to guard the future Hokage.
Urashiki acted quickly and hit Naruto with his hook, shocked that he had not managed to recover any chakra. Deciding that the best solution was to capture Naruto, Urashiki subdued Naruto and trapped Boruto and Sasuke, as well as Jiraya, who happened to be inside a stone prison. Sasuke explained to Jiraya that he and Boruto were actually ninjas from a distant village whose mission was to prevent Urashiki from stealing Kyubi's chakra and that Urashiki had ties with the Akatsuki.
Seeing that they were still hiding some truth, Jiraya decided to work with the duo, freeing them by summoning a giant toad. Soon, Sasuke found Naruto's location by detecting the biju's chakra starting to manifest itself. On the way, having realized that the Seal of Hakke was preventing Urashiki from stealing Kyubi's chakra, Jiraya placed powerful seals on Boruto and Sasuke to protect them as well. Upon finding Naruto, Urashiki's actions forced the boy to enter version 1 of his transformation.
While Sasuke fought Urashiki, Jiraya and Boruto overpowered Naruto who was on a rampage. Boruto tried to reason with his father, believing that talking to him would bring him back to his senses, but he was quickly horrified by the failure of his efforts and Naruto ended up almost killing him before Jiraya could overpower him. After Urashiki withdrew, Jiraya tended to Boruto's wound, told him about Naruto's lonely childhood and the hatred the villagers had for him, and then suggested that Boruto train with him, alongside Naruto, knowing that the enemy would return and thinking that with the two children's compatible nature, they would do well to learn to work together.
The next day, Sasuke watched from afar as Jiraya began teaching Naruto and Boruto how to synchronize their chakra to create a new cooperative ninjutsu. As the day continued and the two children struggled to complete the task, Boruto, still in shock from being attacked by a rampaging Naruto while being influenced by Kurama's chakra, decided to distance himself from the increasingly angry Naruto. Jiraya then approached Sasuke, asking him to deliver food to Naruto while he took care of something and Sasuke reluctantly agreed. While talking with Naruto, Sasuke was amazed to learn how committed his young friend was, even then, to saving him from his dark path. Ashamed to see the pain he had caused Naruto, Sasuke told him how "a friend" of his had fought for years to help him after he had lost his way, but never gave up until he succeeded. After renewing Naruto's conviction, Sasuke left. He was then approached by Jiraya again, shocking Sasuke when Jiraya told him his deduction about his true identity.
Taking Sasuke's shocked reaction as a confirmation of his identity, Jiraya quickly released the pressure by laughing at his accusation. Jiraya could see that Sasuke and Boruto's desire to protect Naruto was sincere and that they had their reasons for keeping secrets, he made an agreement with Sasuke not to seek further knowledge of their true identities on the condition that Sasuke would reveal everything he knew about Urashiki. Sasuke then told him everything he knew about their enemy's abilities. After hearing all this, Jiraya felt that the best course of action would be to seal Urashiki. But before they could formulate a proper plan, Sasuke detected Urashiki's return and rushed off with Jiraya to help Boruto and Naruto. Sasuke, still exhausted from Urashiki's chakra theft, was having trouble keeping up with the enemy, even with the Sannin's help, and as Urashiki dodged his opponents' attacks, he told them that he could see the future.
Finding Urashiki's new technique too dangerous, Sasuke tackled Urashiki and himself into the river to give his allies a chance to escape. As Urashiki emerged from the river unharmed and angry at the Uchiwa's constant intervention, an unconscious Sasuke was fished out by Sakura, who hid him and began to treat him with her medical ninjutsu. Sasuke soon woke up, accidentally thanking Sakura by calling her by her first name. Although he was not yet fully recovered, Sasuke decided to go help his friends. Sakura started to ask him questions, but her efforts to heal him exhausted her and she fainted, Sasuke gently laid her down before leaving. When he arrived, he saw his allies facing a transformed Urashiki. Their combined efforts were barely able to compete with the enemy. Finally, seeing his friends injured, Naruto activated version 1 of his transformation and unleashed it again. Boruto, however, managed to reach Naruto and together they were able to perfect their new collaborative technique. With the combined effort of Jiraya and Sasuke, the two youngsters were able to get through Urashiki's final attack and defeat him.
A few days later, after everyone had recovered from the battle, Sasuke and Boruto decided to leave as soon as their mission was over. They were approached by Sakura, who demanded that Sasuke reveal how he knew her and what was in her letter. As Sasuke struggled to answer, Jiraya gave him a convincing alibi: Sasuke and Boruto were in fact such big fans of him that they had studied his entire life and wanted to train under his supervision, which Boruto and Sasuke awkwardly agreed to. The next day, after Sasuke used his Sharingan to erase the memories of all the people from the past they had interacted with in order to protect the timeline, the master and student used Karasuki to return to the present. Moreover, knowing that it was too dangerous for anyone to use the turtle's power, Sasuke and Boruto convinced her to go on a journey of self-discovery to find her own way. Once they arrived in their present, Sasuke informed Naruto about the recent adventure and the death of Urashiki. While Naruto was happy that peace was finally restored to the world, Sasuke insisted that there were still hidden sites of Kaguya that he should explore, but noted that he would make sure to visit his family much more regularly.
Mujina Bandits
Boruto later told Sasuke about his encounter with Momoshiki and informed him about the mark on his palm, which made Sasuke tell him that it was not normal and to be on guard. After Shojoji was arrested, Sai brought Sasuke in for questioning. While questioning Shojoji about the mark on Boruto's palm, Shojoji revealed that it was associated with the organization known as Kara and that the nature of the mark was vaguely similar to the Cursed Mark.
Starting up Kara
In the anime, after finishing probing Shojoji's mind, Sasuke learned that Kara was last seen hiding in Ame. Sasuke was helped by Team 25 to investigate this new shadowy organization. He learned that the village had deteriorated greatly since the last great war. After Sai's team mapped out a series of underground tunnels, Sasuke and Sai went alone to continue their investigation. As they entered the area, they were confronted by Garashi Tôno, an orphan from Ame. He insisted that they were enemies who had killed his friends, so he was quickly overpowered and they explained their situation to him. Calming down, Garashi told them that a group of people were conducting an experiment underground. Garashi agreed to take them into the tunnels, however, Garashi trapped them and asphyxiated them, revealing that he was a supporter of Kara after the hardships he had endured since the Fourth Great Shinobi War. Sasuke saw through his game after recognizing his shamelessly angry look, using clones to bait him. Before they could get any information from him, Garashi was also trapped by Kara, his gas mask was tampered with and he succumbed to the poison gas. As the tunnels began to collapse due to another trap, they learned that Kara was stationed there and that she was conducting biological experiments. Sai and Sasuke reported their findings to Konoha. Later, facing the growing threat of Kara, Sasuke feared for the safety of his disciple and lent Boruto his other glove, ordering him to keep his Kama hidden from everyone at all costs.
Sasuke later learned that Victor, president of a large medical manufacturing company in the Land of Valleys, was actually a member of Kara and had acquired a sample of the First Hokage's cells. After Team 7 lost to Deepa, Victor's partner in Kara, Boruto and Sarada asked Sasuke to help them become stronger. Sasuke agreed to train Sarada, but when he heard that Boruto wanted to improve his Rasengan, Sasuke directed him to Kakashi, as Boruto did not want to interfere with his father's work and Kakashi was the only other Rasengan user in the village.
As Sarada began her training under Sasuke, she asked him to teach her Chidori. Sasuke noted that Chidori was a dangerous technique that drew its strength from a fierce linear trajectory and as such, only superior perception could compensate for the normally reduced field of vision, but still possessing only one Tomoe on her Sharingan, she could not master the technique as her natural field of vision was still too limited. Deciding to help Sarada master and improve her Sharingan, Sasuke focused his training on dodging a barrage of metal balls similar to the technique of his previous enemy. He trained her not to rely too much on the natural insight of the Sharingan, but rather to focus on the whole area and let the Sharingan fill in the unseen areas.
As Sarada began to improve in her movements against the barrage attacks, Sasuke noticed that she was still very limited in how long she could hold the Sharingan. When he suggested improving her stamina, Sarada asked him about the Mangekyô Sharingan. Worried about such a dangerous power, Sasuke insisted on talking about it another day. Soon, they were approached by Sakura who was concerned that Sarada was overexerting himself after just recovering and was even more horrified to hear him talk about the Mangekyo Sharingan. While Sakura insisted that she couldn't overexert herself so recklessly, Sarada was furious to hear her mother coddling her like this, refusing to see why she wanted to get stronger and ran away. Alone with his wife, Sasuke admitted to worrying about the path Sarada might take, but insisted that Sarada was as strong as they were then.
The next day, as Sarada continued her efforts to escape Sasuke's barricades, Sakura approached again. She insisted that blindly accepting the challenge would not work. She forced her daughter to fight her, which Sasuke accepted because Sakura's insight could determine things that he could not. After Sakura quickly defeated Sarada, she noticed that her daughter's biggest problems were her difficulty in controlling her chakra and her fear of defeat, which inhibited her development. Determined to overcome her limitations, Sarada faced Sakura again, using her Sharingan to mimic her movements and the general timing of Sakura's attacks in order to mimic Sakura's chakra-enhanced strength and find an opening. Sasuke was impressed with his daughter and Sakura was now determined to help Sarada overcome her limits by participating in her training. Through vigorous training under her parents' tutelage, Sarada and her comrades were finally able to defeat Deepa in a rematch to prevent the growth of an artificial Divine Tree, awakening her second tomoe in the process.
Receptacle
During the fight between Naruto and Boruto in the training hall, Sasuke watched the fight from the stands. Afterwards, Sasuke arrived at the Hokage's office, where he explained to Boruto the value of Ninja Science Weapons and that the world was still in danger. He explained that there would soon be enemies like the Ôtsutsuki clan. Naruto also admitted that he knew about Boruto's mark on his right palm, which was another reason why Naruto had approved the development of this advanced weapon. While Boruto still insisted that they had to rely solely on ninjutsu as in the Chûnin Examinations, Naruto noted that these exams were meant to test a ninja's progress, as they were now in a battle for survival. Katasuke then arrived to retrieve his prototype, whereupon Naruto assigned Team Konohamaru to a C-rank mission to escort the chief scientist to Ryutan's laboratory. As Boruto stormed off, Sasuke was sure that Boruto would calm down soon enough.
Kawaki
In the anime, Sarada wanted to learn Chidori, so Sasuke agreed with Sakura's approval. The next day, he showed her the key mechanics to use the jutsu correctly and while she was trying to do so, Sasuke was soon contacted by Sai for a mission that required Sasuke's unique abilities. Sasuke reluctantly had to stop his daughter's training. He was then sent to investigate coordinates discovered in information retrieved by Konohamaru, a place accessible only through Time-Space Ninjutsu. He discovered a site related to the Ôtsutsuki, which contained records of some of their members, especially those who had been in their world, which also led him to believe that Kaguya had come to this world with a partner. There, he also discovered the existence of another imprisoned Jûbi. Sasuke managed to hide when Jigen arrived but he was horrified when he saw him absorbing some of Jubi's chakra, briefly taking the form of Kaguya's supposed partner. As Jigen went to look for Kawaki, Sasuke determined that the situation was more serious than he had expected and felt the need to inform Naruto as soon as possible.
Jigen then attacked Konoha and sent Naruto to another dimension. Just as he was about to leave Naruto in the lurch, Sasuke appeared and stopped Jigen from running away. Fighting together at full strength, Sasuke and Naruto fought against Jigen's powers. The Uchiwa eventually deduced that Jigen's abilities allowed him to reduce the size of anything to microscopic levels and instantly return it to its original size. Recognizing Sasuke's impressive analytical skills and dôjutsu abilities, Jigen noted that he had to eliminate him first. Before Sasuke could inform Naruto of the full extent of Jigen's abilities, Jigen advanced his Kama to the next stage, his appearance reminiscent of the newly discovered Ôtsutsuki clan member.
Jigen effortlessly overpowered the two ninjas and despite their joint efforts, Jigen managed to impale Sasuke and Naruto with his chakra draining sticks. Jigen decided to seal Naruto and tried to kill Sasuke, but was hindered by Naruto's clones. Despite Sasuke's protests, Naruto convinced him to return to Konoha so that he could live to fight another day, which caused Sasuke to teleport to Sakura's side before he passed out from his injuries. Sasuke was hospitalized and Sakura nursed him back to health.
After recovering, Sasuke learned that Boruto and Kawaki had used their Kama to travel to the parallel dimension to rescue Naruto, along with the remaining members of Team 7. Sasuke asked his daughter about the events and Sarada explained that Boruto had not only grown a horn and activated a Byakugan, but that he was acting maliciously. After worrying, Mitsuki informed Sasuke privately that Kara was particularly interested in Boruto, calling him the "host of Momoshiki". Sasuke concluded that Momoshiki used Boruto as a means of self-preservation and also that Kawaki was faced with the same ordeal by Isshiki Ôtsutsuki. Soon after, Amado, the head of Kara's research and development division, arrived in Konoha and negotiated the terms of his exile. Sasuke was present at Amado's interrogation, along with Naruto and Shikamaru, where he learned that the scientist was responsible for providing Konoha with the coordinates of Kara's dimension. During the interrogation, Amado played a live recording of the confrontation between Koji Kashin and Jigen.
As they watched the fight, Amado continued to leak information about the Otsutsuki and Kama. Sasuke noticed an inconsistency in Amado's explanation of the mechanics of the Kama, noting that Jigen was still wearing his markings even though he was already under the full influence of Isshiki. Acknowledging his point of view, Amado explained to him the unorthodox way of Isshiki's parasitic control over Jigen. Seeing Koji's flames engulf Jigen's body, Naruto wondered if the end of Isshiki was near, but Sasuke pointed out that Isshiki still had two hosts marked with the Kama, indicating that he could be reincarnated twice. Sasuke expressed his concern that killing Jigen would make Kawaki the only remaining host of Isshiki, which made Shikamaru wonder if this was all a setup from the beginning. Kawaki entered the interrogation room and attacked Amado, but he was blocked by Sasuke's sword. Amado assured everyone that it was a misunderstanding and to turn their attention to the battle. When Jigen's death triggered Isshiki's resurrection into his body, Amado explained that this also erased Kawaki's Kama to avoid duplication, which led Sasuke to realize that without a remaining Kama, Isshiki was vulnerable to permanent death. After Amado was officially made a citizen of Konoha, he explained to them that Isshiki's resurrection was unstable and that he would look for Kawaki again to mark him once more.
As Boruto insisted on fighting alongside his father and mentor, Sasuke made him understand that fighting such an enemy would probably result in death. Before they could settle their dispute, they were alerted to the arrival of Isshiki in the village. Naruto ordered Boruto to join the evacuation before going into battle, but Sasuke stayed behind to talk to his student. He revealed that he knew that Boruto was under the influence of Momoshiki because of the Kama. Boruto admitted that he was less afraid of dying than of hurting people if Momoshiki took control of his body, but Sasuke swore that as his teacher he would stop him by any means necessary if that happened. Sasuke gave Boruto his genin headband once again, making him swear to give it back to him in the end. Arriving on the battlefield and saving Naruto from Isshiki's attack, Sasuke began to throw shuriken indiscriminately at Isshiki, which reduced them all. When Sasuke threw his sword at Isshiki, he was deceived because it was Boruto who activated his Kama and teleported Isshiki and himself into another dimension. Sasuke and Naruto joined Boruto shortly afterwards to help him via Time-Space Ninjutsu. As the Konoha ninja faced Isshiki, he grabbed Boruto, openly impressed by his Kama's progress in such a short time. Sasuke suddenly switched places with Boruto to make a surprise attack, but Isshiki easily pushed him away.
The fight resumed, with Naruto and Sasuke's teamwork managing to push Isshiki onto the defensive as he began to narrow down all their attacks. However, Isshiki demonstrated a new technique, manifesting and manipulating massive black cubes that separated the duo. From there, Isshiki cornered Sasuke and tried to kill him with his own sword, only to be saved by Boruto who jumped in front of the attack. Isshiki interrupted his attack, which allowed Boruto to realize that Isshiki needed him alive for his plan. In the anime, while Boruto was helping Sasuke to recover, Isshiki threw his black sticks at him, forcing Sasuke to switch places, injuring himself badly. Isshiki tried to crush Sasuke with his cubes, only stopping when Boruto failed to protect him with his Compressed Swirling Orb.
Finding the Hokage, who released his ultimate power with Kurama, Sasuke watched Naruto pressuring Isshiki. He moved Boruto away from the battle area and noticed that Naruto's chakra was starting to weaken. Boruto fainted because of his injuries. Isshiki took advantage of Naruto's connection with Kawaki through the latter's prosthetic arm to teleport his host to them, much to Sasuke's dismay.
As Kawaki tried to escape Isshiki's marking, Sasuke tried to distract him with his Amenotejikara and a scientifically enhanced smoke screen, but he was overpowered by the enemy. After Kawaki tricked Isshiki with a clone, resulting in the death of the Ôtsutsuki, Sasuke questioned Naruto about the risks of his new power. Before Naruto could explain, Boruto suddenly flew at Sasuke, stabbing his left eye and destroying his Rinnegan. Controlled by Momoshiki, the Ôtsutsuki rejoiced that Isshiki had been defeated and that the remaining fighters were the only opponents that could stop him from accomplishing his purpose.
After Momoshiki revealed that he was planning to feed Kawaki to Isshiki's Jûbi, because of the large percentage of Ôtsutsuki DNA that remained in the host's body, Sasuke helped Kawaki fight Momoshiki. During the fight, Naruto fainted because of his previously unattainable power. Sasuke decided to kill Boruto if necessary, as he had promised his student. He noticed that Momoshiki had avoided absorbing any chakra-based ninjutsu with the Kama and deduced that since he had emerged when Boruto had passed out from chakra exhaustion, replenishing the boy's chakra could bring back his personality.
While strategizing with Kawaki, Sasuke was hit by Momoshiki's Disappearing Swirling Orb. After Kawaki forced Momoshiki to absorb a self-sacrifice technique, Boruto was able to wake up and resist Momoshiki's control. After this exhausting battle, Sasuke, Boruto and Kawaki learned that Naruto was spared at the cost of Kurama's life force. With Sasuke's Rinnegan destroyed and Kawaki's Kama gone, Boruto was the group's only hope of escaping the alien dimension. With Kawaki's help, Boruto was able to open a portal, which Sasuke led the weakened Naruto through. Upon their return, Sasuke and his comrades were relieved to return home victorious.
Arc Repassage of the Chûnin Examination
In the anime, after the defeat of Isshiki, Naruto decided to organize again Chûnin Examinations. After Sarada and Boruto reached the finals, they both asked Sasuke for advice. Although he never became a shinin, he told them that a shinobi should always be ready for any challenge.
During the finals, Sasuke arrived in time to see the third match, between Sarada and Chôchô. After her victory, Sarada was happy to see her father. He congratulated her on her fight and she told him that she had taken his advice about becoming a shinobi. He asked about Boruto and Mitsuki, noticing that they had not fought yet. After the exams were over, Sasuke watched with pride as Sarada presented him and Sakura with his new protective vest, the symbol of his promotion.
A few days later, as Sarada was preparing for her official appointment to the rank of chûnin, Sasuke noticed that she was sullen about replacing Konohamaru as team captain. He gave her some advice on how she should approach the situation, which cheered her up.
