The characters of the manga My Hero Academia (MHA) are known to be very endearing and very appreciated by the fans, here are the 5 characters most loved by the fans!
5/ Ochako Uraraka
Uraraka does not exist simply to love Deku. She is a heroine. Her character is almost perfect, considering the other trashy anime characters we've gotten as far as women are concerned (e.g. Sakura). All her beginnings came with her wanting to give Deku a chance, giving up her points for his. She plays an essential role in this story. She supported Deku and her other friends and became a strong pillar in their lives. She continues to improve and grow, and her positive attitude makes her a pure character.
This is not to say that she and Deku won't end up together. I think the relationship between her and Deku is healthy as a friendship, and until the day they say they love each other, they will remain best friends.
Uraraka is not just a secondary character and a whiny girl who needs to be saved. She is a strong heroine with her own story.
I think the reason people like ochaco is not because she is a cinnamon bun or anything, it's because she is real. I've heard people say she's a boring female protagonist, but compared to many people in her class, her character is a very realistic representation of a teenage girl. For example, instead of training to be a heroine for some obscure reason like bakugo, Izuku, etc., her goal is to help her family have a better life and that's very admirable. She is also a tough cookie when she fights bakugo, not wanting to give up like momo did or use izuku's advice. She is an excellent strategist even though she may not be as smart as some of the other characters. I think somewhere along the way in the story, she realizes that she wants to be a hero not only for her family, but for herself, although that may be just straw. Not only is she a great fighter, but she also has a heart of gold and is genuinely kind. Overall, in my opinion, she is definitely the best girl.
She is by far my favorite female character because she is really relatable. She has a crush on Izuku, but instead of allowing herself to go completely "boy crazy", she is determined to be a better hero in order to HELP him achieve his goals and be his partner in the hero. What teenage girl has EVER done that?!?! She is also exceptionally smart, has shown great strategic prowess, is really good at her quirkiness, and has one of the best civilian saving quirks. She is truly an inspiration
4/ Toshinori Yagi alias ALL MIGHT
All Might will not be surpassed as a hero. Midoriya will come close, and perhaps he will reach his level, but at this point in history, All Might is the best. He is the shining symbol of peace, the strong pillar that has sustained the world.
He is a mentor to Deku, and maybe even a father too. His selfless attitude is what made him the hero he was in the first place. The pain he felt with his time limit is absolutely insane and he still pushed forward.
And then there's Nighteye, who predicted his death, and All Might did exactly what we expected it to do.
Decide to model your fate on his.
And until Midoriya is ready, he will decide his fate.
Toshi is the guy everyone looks up to, and the BNHA world is extremely lucky to have (had) a peace symbol like this. Definitely deserves 4th place, if not more. Man, life would be so much better if we had a peace symbol in the real world...
Everyone in the series loves and adores it, how can you not? He's just not a fanservice character, unlike Todoroki and Ochaco (unfortunately, those two have the majority of their comments as something like "hottest woman" or "best past and tragic events", "cute boy with daddy issues"). I feel like the characters would be ashamed or disappointed (mainly Todoroki who even deals with it in the show and shows very little interest in the attention).
Only Midoriya and Bakugou would probably be the best candidates with Yagi if fanservice was avoided. The three main characters, minus the main villain characters, that the story focuses on.
Everything could be every type of superhero in the modern world that we know and love and put it all into one, it keeps a level of coolness and seriousness but still adaptability in any situation to make you laugh at random. I think it's cool that he chose Deku to take over because he saw himself in Deku. Not only is he a symbol of peace, but he is a symbol of what it all means to truly be a superhero.
3/ Katsuki Bakugo
Look at our Bakugo Figure |
The way he went from being an arrogant jerk to a caring guy in general made my heart burst with joy! He doesn't take crap from anyone and he's a brutal and brave guy! He also melted my heart when he and Deku teamed up to defeat mine and he accepted Deku's hand for once! (I literally cried after that scene!)
Katsuki is my favorite character for many reasons. First, I love how he is so proud of himself that it makes me love him even more. His anger also makes me laugh because it causes him to say funny but stupid things. He's also a fair person because he didn't think he deserved first place after Shoto didn't put in his best performance. He is also very intelligent and is constantly developing as a character. Nine times out of ten, the hero is never my favorite (that doesn't mean I hate him). I just love an anti-hero who has character development. He also reminds me that as a teenager, I'm only human and it's okay to get mad. He and I also share a lot of personality traits, which made it easier to relate to him.
Katsuki bakugo, by far, is one of the most complex characters in this series. His character development has a good pace and the best in the series. He is surprising. Overwhelmed by the idea that he is your stereotypical delinquent, Bakugou rises up and simply shows you a new angle of his character and is hilarious at the same time. His gradual friendship with the other students in Class 1-A is amazing and quirky. crazy respect points for the guy after his battle with Uraraka. He has Nobuhiko Okamoto's amazing voice and a character design that fits him perfectly. There's a reason he's a fan favorite in Japan. Plus, the guy is hot, smart and can cook, what more could you want?
2/ Izuku Midoriya
Izuku is the most selfless and caring person in the whole series. He is intelligent and an incredibly developed character. His instinct to put others before himself is something that greatly motivates his dream of becoming a hero. The story has so many well-developed and interesting characters, but Izuku is the perfect protagonist. He's not your typical jock, not the mysterious quiet boy with a dramatic childhood (we all know who that is) He's the shy and determined outsider that no one really expected to be able to kick so much ass. The boy who proved everyone wrong when people doubted his abilities, but simply because it was a dream since he was a kid - an element of innocence, which is kind of refreshing. He saves people who doubted him, who bullied him, he saves who he can because that's what matters most to him. But he can be a tough, powerful hero when he wants to be - it's the perfect balance.
Not every main character has to be motivated by grief and have some sort of tragic backstory. They don't have to be Uber talented and special. They don't need their parents to die. They can't be almost helpless, motivated only by their desire to do good and serve others. Deku is probably the best character in the whole series. He is intellectual and focused, but kind and selfless. His power does not come naturally, in fact, Midoriya has almost always been on the weaker side. But over time, he has managed to become more confident and experienced, and has proven time and again that he is a worthy successor to All Might. Todoroki is a good fit for the tragic past, and Bakugou is perfect for the whole thing: I'm really not sure about me, so I'll break everyone's role (I don't hate, I love Bakugou), but Midoriya is so special simply because of the fact that he wasn't.
1/ Shoto Todoroki
Look at our Shoto Todoroki Figure |
Shoto. He is the best. His character writing is impeccable, precise and realistic. I, a person with first hand experience, am here to confirm it. I actually think Shoto should be the deuteragonist instead of Katsuki. He has the best visible character development and is overall valuable. And I don't care how "hot" people think bakugo is, that doesn't stop him from having THE WORST character development in the series. He's barely changed at all and tbh, he's just annoying and toxic and rude. Don't even come for me, I read the manga, you just don't have eyes.
On the other side, Shoto, who is also a but rude, is actually nice and fun to watch on screen. It may seem like I'm biased, but that's a critical viewpoint. He's actually interesting and his quirkiness is pretty cool. I also love his design - he's practically perfect (flaws and all) compared to any other character mha.
He's the deepest character with the best character development and background. Not to mention that despite his dark past, he's still kind and caring to everyone, and he has a funny side too. He's also determined and tough, and he's the one who has suffered the most and trained the hardest. I really think he should be the one to become the biggest hero after all he's been through, and I wish All Might had given him One For All instead, because to be honest, he deserves it the most.
Shoto is definitely one of the best characters in the series. Even though he is super powerful and skilled, he is not immune to making mistakes or having weaknesses. Todoroki was the emotional backbone of the sports festival arc and was the first character to expand the emotional stakes of the series beyond mere ambition or character pride. His internal conflict spans most of the series, while complementing and advancing the storylines of other characters like Izuku and Bakugo. He is also an excellent example of a strong male character (physically and mentally) who is not hyper-aggressive, overly masculine and/or emotionally closed off.
