Apparence

Shinra is a young man of average height, he has black hair and red eyes, he has a rather discrete smile but when he is tense, this one becomes rather irritating. His outfit of member of the Fire force consists of dark flip-flops that he leaves when he uses his powers, of a black fireman uniform with blue stripes, he has the sign of the 8th brigade on his shoulders and his helmet,

this one is black with the symbol of the 8th brigade in orange on it, he also wears grey and black pants with fluorescent blue lapels, his pants was retouched by Maki so that it is shorter than the others and that his powers do not burn him.

Personality

Shinra is a quick-witted and hot-headed person, his duty and his friends always come first, he never hesitates to go to the heart of the action even if it means taking unnecessary risks. His dream is to become a hero who can save everyone, this goal always pushes him to do his best to improve himself and to overcome all the difficulties that can block his way. In spite of his dream, Shinra is a very sensitive person who shows a certain interest in the way other people look at him, whether it is citizens of Tokyo or members of his brigade, this sensitive attitude surely comes from his childhood and the nickname that people give him: The Demon.

Learning that his brother is really alive changes some of his goals. He trains even harder to be able to fulfill the promise he made to his mother by bringing his brother back to him. Aside from his moral characteristics that make him an excellent member of the Fire Force, Shinra is also very agile and can fly thanks to his 3rd generation powers. He has been in constant confrontation with Arthur since the fire school because of the differences between them there, although he still likes Arthur and will not let him down. He has a deep respect towards captain Ôbi, and a totally uncontrolled fear of commander Hinawa.

Shinra Kusakabe

Capabilities

Although a newcomer to the Special Fire Force, Shinra challenged the experienced members of the force and even defeated a captain. As a firefighter, Shinra is experienced in rescuing people and, as such, was strong enough to carry four people out of a building before it exploded. While relying primarily on her ability to ignite in battle, Shinra showed skill in ordinary combat, able to pin an opponent to the ground and break their guard with a robust kick, as well as defend against revolutionary attacks. Although break dancing is one of Shinra's hobbies, he also uses it in combat, creating unpredictable moves and kicks to attack.

Shinra has exceptional eyesight, having been able to spot things that other members couldn't see from long distances. This was shown when Shinra identified the two white robes shooting from several buildings, as well as when he zoomed his vision 2x more than normal to clearly spot an insect from a distance.

Ignition capacity

As a child, Shinra awakened the ability of a third generation and gained the ability to ignite, control, and use the flames in his feet. In doing so, he leaves ashes on the ground in the shape of his feet, the so-called "devil's footprints" (悪魔の足跡, Akuma no Ashiato).

Using his ability in conjunction with his fighting style, Shinra has enough strength in his kick to sever a limb or destroy the core of an Infernal. With his kicks, he can cause an explosion on contact to lift something as heavy as a car into the air. With his flaming feet, he can change the trajectory of his kicks in the air, allowing him to rush in with a flurry of kicks one after another repeatedly.

Shinra is known to have excellent skill in his mobility during combat, as his ignition ability allows him to fly or glide quickly across the ground and continuously jump off platforms to outmaneuver an opponent before they can react. As a third generation, he has demonstrated resistance to external flames. During his fight against Burns in Fuchū Prison, Shinra's footprints evolved further with bladed talons on the edges of his feet (the anime makes it appear that his footprints have talons from the beginning).

Signs / seals of the hand

Captain Benimaru has taught Shinra how to use hand seals to redirect and focus energy in his body. This allows him to manipulate the characteristics of the flames he produces from his ignition ability.

  • Tora Hishigi - A sign/hand seal used to direct focus and power to his feet; this allows Shinra to use Rapid, which increases the thrust of his flames, giving him an exponential boost in speed.
  • Corna - When Shinra uses this hand seal, her flames manifest into an explosive nature, allowing her to attack with much more force.

Adora Burst

Having the Adolla Burst, Shinra can be temporarily endowed with the Grace of the Evangelist by forcing an Adolla bond to a native or honored person.

Under Grace, Shinra can enter a state of light speed, causing his body to split into subatomic particles in the process. The particles then exceed the speed of light, allowing them to travel back in time a few seconds to the point where Shinra's body split. As a result, Shinra's body is re-materialized.

This allows him to bypass the laws of physics and allows him to travel at relativistic speeds without dying. In such a state, Shinra could see images of Tempe's past in his head and accumulate enough strength to defeat the infernal demon. The bond with her Adolla Burst strengthens according to the intensity of her desire.

Superfire

Shinra has the ability to use Superfire, an ability that gives her 100% use of her ignition ability, while only 30% is usually used. In his case, Shinra uses Death Pressure to perform his Superfire, at which point his flames turn blue due to their higher intensity and temperature. His flames also form a more controlled claw shape.

History

Childhood

Twelve years ago Shinra lived with his mother and younger brother, Sho. He wanted, and still wants, to be a hero. Unfortunately, one day a fire breaks out in his house and he is the only survivor. Because of the alleged murder he committed and his constant smile, people keep calling him "demon" and believe him guilty of this act.

Studies

Shinra studied in a special academy that trains Fire Force. He was obviously not very popular and his main enemy is Arthur Boyle. We know a little later that this dates from the academy.

Introductory arch

Shinra overcomes her fear and hits Saeko. On his way to the special cathedral of fire 8, Shinra overhears an alarm at a nearby train station due to the presence of an infernal. He prepares to fight it, but Company 8 arrives and defeats the threat. Immediately after, he rescues Iris from a falling light and reports to the force. Later, at the force headquarters, Shinra formally meets with all the members and introduces himself. As he settles into his new room, the force is warned of an Infernal and leaves for the scene. Upon entering the factory, Shinra is caught off guard and knocked out by the Infernal, but is awakened by Akitaru seconds later. With words of encouragement, he overcomes his fear and decides to fight. Launching himself at the being with his ignition ability, Shinra impales his opponent's core and purifies his soul. Outside, he hears spectators applauding and is congratulated for his actions, much to his delight.

Shinra Kusakabe ~ 2 | Shinra kusakabe, Anime, Cute anime boy

Akitaru informs Shinra that he will be participating in an upcoming recruit competition alongside a new recruit, which makes Shinra excited, as he sees a chance to meet the man who saved his life. Shinra runs into Arthur and fights with him. When Takehisa approaches the two, he orders Maki to fight the new recruits. Shinra is defeated by Maki's second generation ability limiting his own powers. After eating at Ippudo Ramen, Shinra is given a battle staff to face an Infernal in the Iriya district in a domestic setting. Upon arrival, Akitaru dismisses them for disobeying his orders to conceal their weapons and explains his reasoning. After their conversation, an explosion of flames emerges from the apartment, prompting the force to storm the building and find the Infernal. Arthur volunteers to put the man out of his misery, much to Shinra's dismay, and impales his heart. Immediately after, the ceiling begins to collapse and Shinra watches Akitaru risk his life to save a family photo of Mikako. Afterwards, he apologizes to the man for not being helpful during the mission.

Shinra participates in the Rookie Fire Soldier Games, where he meets Tamaki. Later, he finds Leonard Burns and approaches him. After introducing himself, Leonard ignores him and leaves, and Shinra wonders if the man is hiding something from him. When the examination begins, Shinra flies into the building where he discovers two unconscious people and Joker. After the man reveals that he knows about Shinra's past and threatens to kill the injured, Shinra attacks him, but to no avail. Joker rewards him for his efforts and tells him that Shō is still alive, confusing Shinra. The boy questions Joker and attacks him with several fire-enhanced kicks. When Arthur and Tamaki discover the two, Shinra tries to warn them, but Arthur ignores him. When Joker uses an unknown substance to endanger their lives, Shinra catches the two unconscious and tells Arthur to drill a hole in the ceiling so they can escape. In the air, before Shinra can save Arthur and Tamaki from falling, Leonard intervenes and saves Tamaki while Arthur is rescued by their teammates. Later, Akitaru promises to tell him the reason why the company 8 was created. The next day, Akitaru explains to Shinra how and why their force was founded and informs her that the other special shooting forces are hiding something on their side. They are then given information about the substance that Joker had used by Takehisa.

Shinra accompanies Arthur to rescue a dog, which is reportedly stuck in a tree, and, after informing the two that a trial for Setsuo Miyamoto's release will be held soon, helps Mamoru distribute balloons to children. The two then learn of an accident in the courthouse from Takehisa, who was on his way to the scene with the rest of the forces. After giving Arthur a boost, the two firefighters battle the infernal, with Shinra kicking the opponent and delivering a collaborative attack with Arthur. When Setsuo escapes, Shinra is invited to catch up with him and Takehisa assures him that the threat must be dealt with without prejudice. After Setsuo threatens to kill an innocent child, Shinra stops him. The two then begin their confrontation, with the Fire Soldier dominating the fight. When Shinra grabs Setsuo and cuts his right forearm, Hibana goes down in front of the two. Hibana looks at Shinra, making him collapse and ordering him to lick his shoe while he is held by the 3 angels of the 5th. After noticing an innocent child being pushed away, Shinra becomes furious and pushes the angels away. He stands up and challenges the Special Fire Force Company 5 to a fight when his own force arrives. Tōru Kishiri taunts Akitaru, leading Shinra and Arthur to jump, but Maki and Takehisa detain them, and then the two forces leave.

AGAINST. Arc of the Special Fire Company 5

The next day, Takehisa approaches Shinra and demonstrates his ability, informing her that they will face unique abilities later. Then he starts training the fire soldiers on the roof and informs Shinra about Hibana's past. In the church, he comes across Iris and sees her crying. At night, Maki bursts into the room and informs Shinra that Iris is missing. Shortly after, Shinra heroically arrives at the Special Combine of Fire Force 5, where he is ordered to locate Iris. During his search, he infiltrates a mansion, where the angels of the 5th attempt to attack him, but are defeated with a swift kick. As he walks through the door claiming the hero has arrived, he finds Iris tormented by Hibana.

He rushes towards Hibana with his ability but is cut off by his ignition ability, causing Shinra to feel dizzy and fall to the ground. Instead of accepting the loss, Shinra thinks that the ability is nothing but his imagination and with his willpower manages to stand firm. Shinra enters to attack, but due to dizziness, falls to the ground and is tormented by Hibana Cherry Blossom's attack. Then he is trapped in a whirlwind of flames. Refusing to give up for Hibana's sake, Shinra overcomes her abilities and hits Hibana, knocking her out. When she wakes up, Hibana describes how her sisters still rely on her, but she herself can never rely on anyone. It is then that Shinra stands up and declares that he will be her hero whenever she needs him, to which she blushes. A little later, Shinra attended the dinner hosted by the 5th as a backup plan to infiltrate her, allowing her to explain to the superiors that it was just a late night training collaboration.

AGAINST. Bow of the Special Fire Company 1

Back at the base after defeating another Infernal, Company 8 and Hibana end up irritating Akitaru as he tries to concentrate. Akitaru finally decides that Shinra and Arthur should infiltrate the 1st Special Fire Force and find out any secrets they may be hiding. A little later, Shinra arrives at the 1st Special Fire Cathedral with Tōru Kishiri and Takeru Noto. As he enters, Shinra encounters Karim Flam and later meets Leonard Burns with a sinister smile. Shinra doesn't hesitate to ask if the newcomers can practice their own skills against the 1st's in a training battle, much to the surprise of everyone else.

Everyone gathers at the training grounds, where Shinra witnesses Takeru fighting Rekka Hoshimiya while Karim used his cooling ability to protect everyone. Afterwards, Shinra observes the power of the Lieutenants before preparing to fight Burns alongside Arthur. When Arthur finds his attacks effortlessly blocked by Burns, Shinra quickly intervenes with a flurry of kicks, but the captain manages to parry them with ease. Shinra continues to attack him quickly, hoping to defeat Burns and discover his secrets about the incident 12 years ago, but Leonard emerges unscathed. When asked about his reason for joining the Special Fire Force, Shinra expresses his desire to become a hero and save people from the phenomenon. Although he has already beaten Hibana, Burns proves too much for the young soldier and beats him with a seemingly invisible blow. Shinra, annoyed at his loss, realizes how dangerous a threat Company 1 would be.

The next day, while in the dormitory talking with the other trainees, Shinra is ordered by Tamaki to help Karim stop an Infernal. When they arrive on the scene with Arthur, Karim orders him to stay on the scene and help gather information. While looking around, Shinra spots a figure in an office dress injecting a man with some kind of insect, making him become infernal. Shinra and Arthur chase the mysterious figure, only to discover Karim and Rekka standing together. Wanting to avoid a fight with one or both of the lieutenants, Shinra lies about his actions and returns to the cathedral with the rest once the situation is under control. Shinra and Arthur break into Karim's room to investigate, discovering the type of bug used earlier in his office. Karim catches them and calmly explains that he has also been investigating the bug and a series of bizarre infernal sightings involving children. The trio realizes that the only possible suspect for the previous attack could be Rekka. They then set out to find and capture the killer, despite Karim's concerns.

Later, while searching for Rekka from the air, Shinra comes across a sudden noise from an abandoned warehouse, and quickly notices flames coming from the structure. He goes down into the warehouse and stomps on Rekka's face to prevent her from killing Tamaki. While trying to save the injured girl, Shinra is attacked by Rekka and the two begin to fight. Rekka realizes that Shinra's flames are reacting with his insect, indicating that he is compatible with it and therefore possesses the Adolla Burst. Realizing how many people Rekka has killed in pursuit of the Adolla, Shinra impulsively attacks again, only to be knocked back into Tamaki, who gently grabs Shinra and begs him to stop Rekka. Determined and collected, Shinra calmly considers the situation and creates a battle strategy. Launching Rekka into the air, Shinra jumps from wall to wall to propel herself to attack from any angle and bring Rekka to attack. Once Rekka has left himself open without a foot to steady himself, Shinra raises the ceiling and hits the killer with a fiery kick, leaving his face screwed up as the impact shakes the warehouse.

Shinra realizes the possibility that the preacher has taken Shō.Shinra is exhausted from the battle and is in danger of overheating if he continues, but Rekka rises to fight even if it means destroying his body. Rekka's rants reveal his master, the evangelist, the ultimate goal of creating a second sun, and Shinra demands to know if his group was behind Shō's disappearance 12 years ago, but to no avail. Karim intervenes by trapping Rekka in a column of ice. As Shinra takes a breath of relief, a sudden flare of light from a sniper shoots through the building and pierces Rekka through the chest, killing him. Despite everyone's shock, the sniper plans to eliminate all witnesses and cut off Foien's arm with a second barrage. Karim ordered Shinra to use her ability to create a dust storm in the room to blind the sniper and counter his attack. Thanks to Karim's strategy, the attacker is forced to retreat and Shinra's exhaustion prevents him from continuing. After recalling all the recent events of people turning humans into infernals and kidnapping children to teach the ways of the Sun God, Shinra realizes that the preacher was the one who kidnapped Shō.

Shortly thereafter, while still in the abandoned warehouse, Shinra informs Karim and Foien of the white hooded figures that killed Rekka. Karim then says he wants to help investigate the evangelist, and he and Shinra shake hands to commemorate their partnership. Later at the 1st Special Fire Cathedral, Shinra, Takeru, and Tōru prepare to leave the 1st and return to their own forces. Upon arriving at Cathedral 8, he begins to settle in, gathering his teammates of strange frolics. Just before he can let go and relax, he spots Tamaki in front of him, surprised. Akitaru then explains that as a punishment, she has joined society 8 until further notice. Shinra then asks where is Arthur, to which Akitaru declares that he is lost. They later file a missing persons report.

Shinra Kusakabe

Arc of the preacher's pursuit

Time passes and Arthur returns home. Akitaru has Shinra and Tamaki attend a gathering of the captains with him in central Tokyo to discuss recent events. Upon arrival, Shinra stares at the 7th captain and accidentally offends him. As the Emperor of Tokyo arrives, the conference begins and he talks about all the forces working together to track down the preacher. Raffles then speaks directly to Shinra about his realization of a shard of Adolla, saying that he should protect him. The captain of Company 3 intervenes and suggests that Shinra receive external protection from the evangelist, given that she wants Adolla's burst, but Shinra refuses. After the lecture on how she buys utilities, Shinra meets Joker in an alley. Preparing for a fight, Joker calms him down and reveals that Shō is affiliated with the Evangelist, before quickly leaving.

Asakusa Arch

Upon arrival in Asakusa, Shinra's brigade encounters Benimaru Shinmon and the Special Fire Force Company 7. Shinra quickly becomes irritated by Benimaru's dismissive attitude before they are alerted to an Infernal. After Benimaru eliminates the threat, Shinra helps rebuild the city after the destruction caused by the event. Later, he plays hide-and-seek with Hinata and Hikage, then apologizes to Benimaru for disrespecting him earlier. Shinra takes the opportunity to ask the captain about Konro's condition.

Regrouping with his company, Shinra spotted flames emerging from inside the city and discovered Benimaru attacking Akitaru and Takehisa. Believing that Company 8 was responsible for turning people into artificial Infernos, Benimaru attacks the pair, leading Shinra to intercept the attack and join Company 8's combined attack against Captain Benimaru. Defeating all but Akitaru, Benimaru prepares his final attack against Akitaru, but is stopped by Konro who collapses. After the confrontation, Shinra checks on Konro, during which he learns how Konro damaged his body after abusing his ignition ability. Upon learning that Konro is going to die for his captain, Shinra makes him promise to ask for his help if things get so dire.

Soon after, the brigades discover that White-Clad has infiltrated Asakusa and is posing as Hikage. After the discovery, the city bursts into flames, followed by the group targeted by the third-generation ignition ability. Shinra and Arthur go in search of the sniper, but find themselves attacked by the sniper and his partner. As Shinra and Arthur face the pair, they manage to overpower Haran, leading him to eat a bug and transform into a horned Infernal.

Bow of the workshop of Vulcan

When Shinra and the rest of Company 8 return to the cathedral, they are greeted by the brigade's new chief scientist Viktor Licht. After some confusion and strange behavior with Licht and Hibana, Shinra questions the two about Adolla's flurry. While Viktor and Hibana can provide detailed descriptions of the world and Adolla Burst's impact on it, Hibana doesn't know what the Adolla link is while Viktor deceives him, claiming he has never heard of it. Akitaru sends Shinra, Arthur and Iris to recruit Vulcan for their company, leaving Shinra happy with the responsibility. As the trio enter Vulcan's workshop, they come across Yū, the child Shinra saved earlier from Setsuo Miyamoto. Hearing the voices outside his workshop, Vulcan comes out, telling the firemen to leave immediately.

Soon after, they enter the workshop with Yū's admission. Shinra is again shaken on the head by a soda can, this time by Lisa. Shortly after introducing themselves, they are disturbed by the thud of Vulcan's engineering work. After Vulcan gives his machine a brutal kick to test it, Giovanni suddenly arrives at the workshop and the Shinra group overhears his conversation with Vulcan. After learning that Giovanni is also trying to recruit Vulcan for Haijima, Shinra tells Vulcan that his company is different from Haijima. After Arthur and the curious Iris get into trouble with the robotic animals, much to Vulcan's delight, he decides to show them a beautiful projection of the world's animals and explains his goal of one day ensuring the safety of all animals to the amazement of the Fire Forces members. Shinra smiles and thinks that Vulcan is perfect for them. After learning about Vulan's background from Lisa, the Adolla link suddenly alerts Shinra to Giovanni's plan to kill Vulcan. After telling her peers, Shinra devises a plan to locate Giovanni's whereabouts while Arthur and Iris protect the others in the workshop. Shinra attacks Giovanni. After leaving the workshop, Shinra waits in a tree looking for suspicious activity but is knocked down and strangled by Giovanni. After a brief struggle, Shinra is electrocuted into unconsciousness and delivered to the White Clad. Regaining consciousness and struggling with his fire-resistant restraints, he is taken away by White Hoods. Hibana arrives and knocks out the two escorts before releasing him from his restraints. Reloading towards the workshop of Vulcan, Arthur tells him to return in the workshop as soon as possible, during which he bypasses Flail and Mirage. Crossing the door of the workshop, Shinra immediately kneels Giovani in the face. Then, Shinra is overwhelmed by Giovani and trapped in Lisa's tentacle ignition ability. Vulcan manages to free Shinra using one of her inventions, allowing Shinra to attack Giovani with a barrage of kicks, throwing him through a wall and out in the process. Shinra is overpowered by Shō.

Shinra ventures outside to continue their battle but stops as the strange sensation in his legs returns. As he looks up at an overlooking hill, Shinra notices his brother Shō watching him. Delighted to be reunited, Shō immediately approaches and attacks Shinra in hopes of capturing him. Watching his little brother defeat Arthur and Hibana, Shinra is confused at Shō's speed and does not know what to do. The workshop bursts into flames, quickly followed by Viktor driving a packed truck with Shinra's group. Climbing aboard while carrying Arthur, the group is unknowingly protected from Shō by Joker. Taken to the hospital, Shinra reports to Akitaru and explains what happened and that Giovanni is a traitor. Realizing that Vulcan might still be in danger, Shinra suggests that the best course of action would be for him to stay with them. Agreeing, Shinra is thanked for all his hard work. While Shinra tries to hide his feelings about fighting his brother, he promises to help Vulcan realize his dream of reviving extinct animals. As the allies of Company 8 gather to meet with Akitaru, it is decided that Arthur and Shinra should gain combat training by visiting Company 7.

Kusakabe Shinra (Enen no Shouboutai)

Upon their arrival in Asakusa, Shinra and Arthur are trained by Benimaru. He asks Shinra to focus on his speed and combat awareness, which leads Viktor to explain that this can be achieved by condensing the flames in one direction before exploding. While initially struggling to direct his flames, Shinra mimics Benimaru's hand signals and begins to control them more easily. Benimaru then explains the use of the hand signs in conjunction with the ignition abilities to Shinra. With the new information and a focused mind, Shinra concentrates on speed: fast enough to catch up to Shō. Using the sign of the tiger, Shinra is able to launch himself forward with lightning speed. When Shinra is distracted while naming his new ability, Benimaru goes after the pair, but they are able to dodge his kick, demonstrating their heightened awareness. During the fight, Shinra is almost able to catch Benimaru by surprise using the tiger hand sign. Benimaru praises Shinra's execution and growth, telling him to use this power well and that he must protect his only living relative. Afterwards, Shinra experiences an Adolla bond with Shō.

Netherworld Arc

Shinra finds the demon. Shinra has a dream in which he sees a woman, whom he mistakes for Iris. After learning that the white hoods are hiding in the Netherworld, the brigade enters, during which the mist envelops the group and separates the members. Shinra eventually escapes the fog and finds a detained Viktor with a knife, and he subdues the assailant with a kick. Later, Shinra collapses to her knees and begins to hyperventilate as the Adolla link activates. Shinra is bombarded with strange images as she stands in a white void surrounded by burning bones. Shinra also sees a hellish demon, her mother, Captain Burns, and the scars of Sōichirō Arg. Shinra then sees a baby before returning to reality, only to see a path of demonic footprints. Shinra follows the footprints and discovers Shō at the end of the path. Shinra fighting Shō.

After Shō refused to acknowledge their mother as his parent, the brothers began to fight. Using the sign of the tiger, Shinra is able to keep up with Shō and manages to avoid his brother's drawn blade. However, Shō activates his ignition ability and begins to overwhelm Shinra. Shō claims that Shinra will never catch up to him, despite his speed, because they exist in different universes. An Adolla connection is established, during which Shinra sees the preacher. Then, Shinra is able to forge a link with Shō, allowing him to move even faster. Shinra realizes that his sudden increase in speed is partly due to the influence of the preacher and that he could reach Shō's level if he were to obtain divine protection. Despite his newfound power, Shinra is overwhelmed by Severed Universe. Benefiting from the preacher's "divine protection," Shinra is able to disintegrate to move faster than light, allowing him to match Shō. Shinra and Shō face off for the final time, during which Shinra drags Shō into an adolla vision of his own creation. Showing his memories to Shō, his brother is overwhelmed with images and screams. Shinra fighting Burns. Coming back to reality, Shinra accidentally rematerializes with Shō's sword piercing his body. This shocks her brother and amuses Haumea, who then uses her abilities to brainwash Shō. Before she can take Shinra away, the other members of Company 8 arrive to protect him, leading to the White Hoods' retreat. Rather than continue, Company 8 focuses on saving Shinra from his injuries by rushing him to the Special Fire Defense Clinic 6. There, Kayoko Huang operates to save Shinra's life. Afterwards, he is approached by Leonard Burns. After fighting, the captain reveals that it was Shinra's mother who was the infernal demon he saw when his house burned down, and that she was the one who took Shō away during the incident. Unable to learn what happened to his mother, he wonders if he can find her using his Adolla Link, prompting Shinra to remember his previous vision of Captain Arg and investigate him.

Bow of the Special Fire Company 4

Upon arriving at the main headquarters of the 4th, he meets his old friends from the academy, Ogun and Karin. He soon ventures inside the building to meet the captain, and shortly after talking about the Adolla Burst, they are both attacked by what appears to be 119 - but Sōichirō knocks Mamoru's head off, revealing Karim in a suit as if he is under some sort of spell, chanting that he wants to kill Shinra. Shinra hears the mysterious woman's voice again, manipulatively telling him to kill Karim.

Arc of the Nether Operation survey

Shinra versus Giovanni. With Company 8 invited to enter the Netherworld with Special Fire Force Company 2 to expose the White-Clad experiments, the members of Company 8 are split between Company 2's research teams, leading to Shinra being assigned to Hebio's team. Upon entering the Netherworld, his team is attacked by the Infernals, resulting in many deaths, during which he is attacked by Giovanni. When a fire soldier comes to his aid, Shinra saves him from Giovanni and is soon joined by Arthur. During their fight, Giovanni informs Shinra that an Adolla link can only be established with another Adolla Burst user or someone who has had contact with Adolla, which causes Shinra to remember that he had an Adolla link with Konro. Next, Arthur bisects Giovanni. Surviving the cut, Giovanni uses his bugs to distract the couple while they escape. Leaving the Netherworld, Shinra wonders how he had an Adolla bond with Konro.

Stigma arc

Shinra and Arthur are trained by Benimaru. Wanting to know why he lived an Adolla affair with Konro, Shinra and Hibana go to Asakusa. There, they discover that Konro is attacked by a white-clad man whom he beats. Making their presence known, they start to talk and Konro informs the couple that he met an Adolla Link two years ago after killing the infernal demon he faced. Then, the three return to the city and tell Benimaru that Konro is being targeted. Dodging Benimaru's blow, he notes that Shinra is a better fighter. Informing Benimaru that some White-Clad are strong enough to withstand his strong attacks, Shinra asks him how he would fight them and tells him to use Superfire. He then tells Shinra to bring the members of his company so that he can train them together. The next day, he brings Arthur and Tamaki to train. As Shinra and Arthur engage Benimaru in battle, he orders the two to go beyond their limits, then jams them. Resuming their fight, the two exhaust themselves for five hours, and eventually Shinra learns about Superfire, during which he has an Adolla bond with Sōichirō Hague and sees him killed.
