Appearance
Tanjuro suffers from a disease that makes his skin dull and pale. He is known to have a similar appearance to his son Tanjiro, wearing the same dark red eyes, black hair with red tips and a scar on his forehead.

Tanjuro also wears an outfit similar to his son's, except with an orange and black patterned haori instead of dark turquoise and black. The earrings he wore during his lifetime were passed down from his ancestor and then to Tanjiro.
Personality
Tanjuro is a calm, calculating, forgiving and respectable person. He has a peaceful relationship with his family and regularly gives lectures on life in Tanjiro.
While he appears calm on the outside, he shows a noble and decent aura with a calm perception of his surroundings. According to his son, he does not like to stand out or show his true abilities to others. However, if his family is in danger, he will not hesitate to protect them and show no mercy to the enemy.
History
At some point in his life, Tanjuro married Kie and had their six children.
Tanjuro seemed to have a connection to the world of demon killers, but in his later years he was a wise but sickly and frail man.
He died sometime before the massacre of his wife and youngest children but still manages to inspire his two remaining children.
Synopsis
Tanjiro grew up on a mountain with his younger siblings and parents as the oldest son of the Kamado family. As a child, Tanjiro learned the Dance of the Fire God from his father, Tanjuro Kamado, knowing unconsciously that the dance was actually the Breath of the Sun, a Style of Breath used in battle to kill demons. Later in his childhood his father died of an illness, which led him to have responsibilities early on and to be a father figure to his siblings.

Tanjiro was very affectionate towards his siblings, doing everything he could to take care of them. When one of his brothers accidentally knocked over a kettle, he protected it and received a burn scar on his forehead. Tanjiro was responsible for selling charcoal in the nearest town to earn money for the family and seemed to frequent the town quite often, as the residents easily recognized him and regularly asked for his help.
Skills & Competencies
Although there is not much information about his strength, Tanjuro is considered to have strong arms. He is able to hide the presence of his fighting spirit and see through the abilities of his enemies, cutting off his head with a punch. For example, he once wakes Tanjiro in the middle of the night to watch him fight and kill a bear with a simple rusty axe..

Dance of the Fire God
Although he may not be aware that the Fire God Dance is actually a style of Breathing, Tanjuro learned this dance from his father and then passed it on to his son, Tanjiro. His family used the breath in a ritual ceremony at the beginning of each new year, where the breath user offers the Fire God a dance from morning to night to ward off disease. The dance is composed of twelve movements repeated throughout the night.
