Appearance
Ten years ago, he wore armor and a helmet completely covering his body, like the other Deadly Sins. His wanted poster shows him as an old man with a moustache and a small beard. He has his symbol, a relatively large lion, on his back. He has two appearances: at night, he's very thin, and when the day comes, he gains in height and muscle mass.
Personality
Escanor's personality varies according to night and day. When it's nighttime, Escanor is fearful, shy and lacking in self-confidence, just the opposite of proud (which is normal, given that at night, his strength is practically nil). But when day breaks, he finally shows his power and becomes extremely proud and haughty, considering himself to be at the pinnacle of the human species. As a result, he feels pity for his opponents, confident that he can crush them. He is both the least inclined (by night) and the most inclined (by day) to his sin among his companions. He likes to write poems, usually addressed to Merlin, for whom he has a soft spot.
History
Past
Escanor was born Prince of the Kingdom of Castex. His brother, Daymond, used to hit him for sticking too much to their parents, then he developed the power of Sunshine and broke his powerless brother's arm. He was chased out of his native kingdom, but was helped by Rosa, a woman willing to help him. He traveled the world, even killing monsters. Finally, he met Meliodas and Merlin, and in the process joined the Seven Deadly Sins.
Relation
Merlin
Escanor has felt in love with Merlin from the first day he saw her, because she reminds him of Rosa and because she's the only person who, when she saw her, didn't call her a monster. When Escanor is in his daytime form he does everything to impress Merlin and doesn't think he's above her, and when he's in his midnight form he's shy and writes poems about her. Escanor sees Merlin as his Light, who shows him the way in the dark like a sun. Escanor gets angry when someone hurts Merlin in any way. Escanor is jealous and depressed when he thinks Merlin loves Arthur. In Escanor's last words, he confessed his feelings to Merlin, who replied that he had overestimated him a little too much because she had probably just considered him a test subject, to which he replied that it was enough for him to have had at least one place in her heart, and before disappearing he and Merlin kissed and he recited a last poem in which he wished Merlin to find "a cup" capable of containing his love (wine).
Hawk
We don't know much about their relationship, but they seem to get on well, as they chat together and Escanor asks Hawk for advice on Merlin.
Futility
- There are two characters with the name "Escanor" including: "Escanor the Great", son of a giant and a witch, said to be particularly proud, and "Escanor Galant", the nephew of the first Escanor, who was a very handsome young man and eventually retired to a life of hermitage. Escanor is based on the first, who was defeated by the knight Gauvain, known as the "sun" knight, whose strength grew with the sun, reaching its zenith.

Escanor creates a miniature sun that he controls with his hand. As Escanor's power increases, so does the heat released by this sun.
Escanor detonates his Cruel Sun and causes an explosion of intense heat that burns everything in a wide area.
Escanor concentrates all his strength to deliver a devastating blow with Rhitta.
In his The One form, Escanor strikes his opponent with the cutting edge of his hand. This attack can cleave through anything.
Escanor projects a large number of mini suns, which explode and destroy everything they touch.
In his The One form, Escanor pierces his opponent with his index finger, turning his arm into a spear.
A technique that allows Escanor to maintain his The One form after midday. To do this, he converts his life force into magical power. This is a last resort, as it consumes his own life and will kill him if he doesn't stop before it's too late.
A more powerful version of Crazy Prominence used by Escanor in his The One: Ultimate form: he projects a large number of mini suns onto his opponent.
Combined attack of the 7 Sins: Merlin uses Power Full Convertion to combine the most powerful techniques of the Sins into a single attack: Meliodas' Trillion Dark, Escanor's Final Prominence, Gowther's Kill Switch, Diane's Jet Hammer, King's Spear of Judgement and Ban's Crazy Rush. Meliodas then creates doubles to reflect the attack several times with Full Counter, making it even more powerful, before hurling it at their opponent.
