Bleach is a shonen action-adventure anime series whose protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki , has been through a lot since the early days. Ichigo has always been aware of ghosts and spirits growing up, but when Bleach's main story was launched, Ichigo actually started fighting these ghosts. Eventually, he fought to save the world as a local shonen hero.
Ichigo has fought many enemies in Bleach's history, from assorted Hollows in the city of Karakura to Soul Reapers and deadly Arrancars, and now, the powerful Quincy empire, the Wandenreich . Some of Ichigo's victories simply enabled him to continue his journey or protect his friends, but in five key Bleach battles , Ichigo truly grew as a Soul Reaper surrogate and as a person. Ichigo was never the same after surviving these battles.
Ichigo Kurosaki fought countless battles in Bleach, but in these five battles, he really came into his own as the main hero.

5/ Ichigo fought Fishbone D with Rukia's powers
Ichigo's first and most formative battles in the Bleach anime took place in the very first episode. The tsundere Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki visited the town of Karakura one night to defeat a Hollow, only for that Hollow, Fishbone D, to overpower her. Fishbone D also damaged the Kurosaki house and captured one of Ichigo's sisters. In desperation, Rukia lent Ichigo her Soul Reaper powers, which in turn awakened Ichigo's latent powers and transformed him into a Soul Reaper substitute with an unnamed zanpakuto. Ichigo didn't just kill Fishbone D and save the day - he proved to be a true hero in this fight, and Ichigo knew there was no turning back. This fight also brought out his truly heroic side, with Ichigo always ready to risk his life and save innocents and More Hollows.
4/ Ichigo trained with Kisuke Urahara to win against Zangetsu

Ichigo's nameless zanpakuto collapsed when he fought Captain Byakuya Kuchiki , and Ichigo had to become stronger if he was to save Rukia in the Soul Society. Already fortified by his early experiences as a Soul Reaper, Ichigo courageously asked scientist Kisuke Urahara to train, knowing it would be both difficult and risky. Ichigo clashed non-stop with Kisuke in the underground training area, and even manifested his Hollow mask for the first time, foreshadowing his return in future story arcs. Ichigo also saw Zangetsu, the manifestation of his mother's Quincy spirit, and learned to ask this spirit his name. When Ichigo learned Zangetsu's name, he obtained a brand-new zanpakuto and learned to rely on his own power, not Rukia's.
3/ Ichigo fought Kenpachi Zaraki with his partner, Zangetsu

Ichigo learned to regard Zangetsu as a reliable source of immense power during his training session with Kisuke Urahara, but there was more to learn. During the "Soul Society" story arc, Ichigo went head-to-head with Renji Abarai and Ikkaku Madarame, to face a real challenge: Captain Kenpachi Zaraki. Ichigo secretly feared Kenpachi and doubted himself, so he quickly lost. Then Ichigo met Zangetsu again and talked to him, learning that Zangetsu is not a tool but a partner or acolyte. Ichigo recognized his zanpakuto as his true equal and put all his trust in Zangetsu, and that changed everything. Ichigo again faced Kenpachi with his renewed power, while Kenpachi had no such relationship with his own zanpakuto, Nozarashi. With this key advantage and lesson in mind, Ichigo won the fight.
2/ Ichigo asserts himself as king on horseback
In the "Arrancar" story arc, Ichigo struggled with his inner Hollow, which continued to fight him for control of his body. This cost Ichigo dearly in his battles with Yammy and Grimmjow, so he approached the Eight Vizards for training. During this training sequence, Ichigo fought an internal battle against himself Hollow, and the Hollow had a good point to make. The two Ichigos were not equals, as one would be the king in command while the other would be the horse, or subordinate source of strength and support. Ichigo hesitated at first, then recognized and accepted his own desire to wage war and use the Hollow as a weapon. This sharpened Ichigo's resolve somewhat, and the Hollow, impressed, submitted to him as a horse.
1/ Ichigo confirmed that he wanted to fight and defeat Grimmjow

When Ichigo rushed to Hueco Mundo to save Orihime, he thought he was ready to fight the ten Espadas, but he was wrong. Deep down, Ichigo was still afraid to fight his enemies, despite the fact that he was the "king", and it showed. Ichigo held back against Dordoni and almost lost what should have been an easy fight, then became careless against Ulquiorra Schiffer, the 4th Espada. Finally, the 6th Espada, Grimmjow Jaegerjaques, told Orihime to look after Ichigo for one last battle to settle their rivalry. Ichigo fought well with his Hollow mask, but his resolve was still too weak, and this almost cost him the battle. Grimmjow continued to push Ichigo in their long final battle, and finally, Ichigo realized that Grimmjow was right. Ichigo burst into Las Noches to fight his enemies and win, and only with hard-won victories could he save Orihime and bring all his friends home alive. Never again will Ichigo doubt his willingness to fight his enemies to the death to protect those he loves.
