Ranking of Kankuro's Best Fights in Naruto!

Kankuro eventually became one of Naruto's best and most accomplished fighters, which meant he had some truly epic battles throughout the manga.

After Sasori's death, Kankuro was the greatest puppeteer in the Naruto universe. His brilliant command of the Black Ant, the Raven and the Salamander made him a formidable opponent for anyone facing the ambitions of the Sable Village and its brand-new Kazekage, Gaara.

As one of his people's most powerful shinobi, Kankuro had dozens of opportunities to prove himself in battle. By identifying his best battles and who won, we can better assess the doll handler's merits as a warrior and how he makes his village proud - or belittles it.

5/ Kankuro fought Tsurugi during Chunin's exams

Tsurigi was one of Orochimaru's plants and a candidate for the Chunin exams. He had many advantages over Kankuro at the start of their fight, including experience, age and his ability to stretch his body to ridiculous proportions.

As a result, many observers of the duel were unsure who would succeed. Even the most experienced Jonin couldn't correctly anticipate the winner - the only characters who understood what was going to happen were Kankuro's siblings, Gaara and Temari.

After Tsurugi challenged Kankuro to a chokehold, he threatened to break his neck. The puppeteer was prepared for this technique, proven by the fact that he had already substituted his own body for one of his creations."

Since they were now in close proximity, the Sound Village ninja's fate was sealed. Crow casually crushed him, breaking bones and asphyxiating the man until he could no longer visually demonstrate surrender. This made Kankuro the winner by default and facilitated his pursuit in the tournament, where his next opponent was to be Shino.

4/ Kankuro vs Shino

Although the Chunin exams had been prematurely cancelled due to the Sand's betrayal and the invasion of Konoha, Shino still intended to challenge and defeat Kankuro. The man's coarse, arrogant manner contrasted with Aburame's reserved demeanor, making their impending skirmish visceral and satisfying.

At first, Kankuro wasn't interested in hosting their grudge match. However, after Shino caught up with him, he realized the threat his opponent posed to his brother and their comrades, agreeing to fight accordingly. As both warriors had already seen their opponents' moves in the preliminary matches of the Chunin exams, neither had a considerable advantage.

By placing a pheromone ant on Kankuro's clothing, Shino was able to use it as a homing beacon for his other beetles to latch onto the puppeteer's body . It was an inevitably successful tactic, especially as the sand ninja couldn't concentrate his chakra strands for any length of time.

Despite this, he was still able to inject Crow's poison into Shino's veins. Although Kankuro was the first to fall from the trees to the ground below, Aburame also fainted and was unable to capitalize on his victory by finishing him off.

3/ Kankuro and Kiba versus Sakon and Ukon

When the Sound Four were ordered to retrieve Sasuke, they divided their attention between their pursuers at Konoha 11 to evenly apply their advice. Kiba was responsible for the defeat of Sakon and Ukon, two brothers capable of attacking their enemies with limb barrages and bodily possession.

In the case of the latter, a brother would melt into Kiba's skin and begin to destroy the proteins that made up his body. The only way for the canine shinobi to combat this was to stab himself, requiring Kankuro's help if he was to survive.

Kankuro's dolls were an excellent asset against Sakon and Ukon, since they couldn't invade him for lack of protein. With an arsenal of deadly weapons, he lured the two brothers into Black Ant, where they would soon be sealed inside his body.

Unable to escape, they could only watch in horror as the sand ninja prepared his "puppet show" technique. Preparing lethal blades in all directions and directing them through the grooves of Ant's wooden body, Orochimaru's servants were slaughtered alive, their blood flowing back from the doll's frame.

2/ Kankuro fought Sasori outside the sand village to save Gaara

After Gaara was publicly defeated by Deidara and abducted from his own village, Kankuro was the first to try and get him back. So ardent was he in his quest that he left his home before any of his comrades were prepared, facing the fleeing Akatsuki members alone.

Deidara was already wounded and exhausted from his fight with the Jinchuriki, and his clay creations better facilitated a swift return to the organization's hideout. As a result, Sasori volunteered to defeat their pursuer instead.

The fight between Sasori and Kankuro was as brutal as it was short. Although the hero's trio of puppets proved useful against most of the villains, the Akatsuki member understood his weaknesses and targeted his joints, sending the puppet members scattering to the sand.

Simultaneously, Kankuro was left wide open for an attack. A single swipe of his tail was all the villain needed to render his opponent helpless, confident that he would succumb to his incurable poison within three days. Had it not been for Sakura's genius medical skills, his assumption would have been correct.

1/ Kankuro VS Deidara and Sasori

The resurrected forms of Deidara and Sasori were at the forefront of the Fourth Shinobi War and served as the vanguard. They scoured the forest for opponents and would eventually encounter Kankuro, Sai and Omoi of the Cloud Village.

It was something of a calculation, given Kankuro's aforementioned defeat at the hands of the Akatsuki member and the role the villains played in his brother's murder. It was particularly ironic since the sand ninja had already acquired Sasori's body and transformed it into one of his own puppets.

Although Kankuro was never able to defeat his opponents on his own (especially given their immunity to poison and incessant body regeneration), he was able to work alongside Sai and trap the Akatsuki in his puppets.

By forcing them into the air, he prevented Sasori and Deidara from dodging Sai's ogre creations. They pushed the villains back into the earth and comfortably into the clutches of the sand ninja's dolls. As Sasori was definitively sealed, he was relieved to know that his art lived on through his opponent's practices.
