The anime was officially announced via the Twitter account of Fire Force , on November 14, 2018. It was also announced via a color page published in Weekly Shōnen Magazine on November 21, 2018, in its 51st issue.
On February 25, 2019, Funimation officially announced via its Twitter that they had claimed the official rights to the anime and would be releasing it via their FunimationNow platform that same year.
On March 17, 2019, the Fire Force's official Japanese and English Twitter accounts posted a second PV, which confirmed the July 6, 2019 airing date, as well as its airing on the Japanese TV program block "Super Animeism. " by MBS television channel.
Adult Swim began airing the English dub of Funimation on their Toonami programming block on July 28, 2019 in the United States.
