Behind the scenes of the imperial palace, Mao Mao lives a quiet life practicing her craft as an apothecary. Unable to ignore the threat, she chooses to intervene in secret.

Her initiative quickly catches the attention of Jinshi, the enigmatic and strikingly beautiful court eunuch, who immediately recognizes her remarkable abilities. Impressed by her sharp intellect and skills, he appoints her as the official food taster for an imperial concubine. Mao Mao is thus thrust into the palace’s inner workings, forced to use her herbalist talents to solve toxicological mysteries, dismantle conspiracies, and navigate the labyrinth of political games within the court.
